Okami - Caulfield reviews
67Great food all round, but when it came to the ice cream they bought out this weird voodoo black magic Stuff.
There is a great selection of Japanese food to choose from. Their service is excellent and how quickly they prepared our orders to our table. Overall it was a fun experience.
$36.80 pp, drinks sold separately. Delicious and freshly made food. Seating is a little cramped but the low chairs make up for it.
Would love to come back again.
Honestly one of the worst places I’ve ever been to. The food was beyond awful with most of the items tasting frozen. The service was also terrible, with our entrees coming after our dessert. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!
Overall it was a good dining experience. We came here by booking in advance. Ordered straight from the start and finished in less than 2 hours. We expected this place to offer a bit of premium quality but it was just okay. Some food was quite good and others were just okay. Some just make you quickly feel full especially the beef meals (too hard to bite). Dessert were so pleasant. We were hoping to get a better food experience. However, the staff were attentive and helpful. This is a place where you get bangs for bucks if that's what you're after plus long chit-chat and group dining.
Expensive all you can eat Japanese food with moderate-to-low quality food and very poor service.
In terms of the food itself, you can normally expect these sorts of all-you-can eat places to be expensive or low quality. Unfortunately, this place was both. There are plenty of places nearby (Glen Huntley Road, Elsternwick or Koornang Road Carnegie) with better food and cheaper. Nothing was terrible or outrageous, but nothing was particularly tasty (and we ordered most items on the menu).
In terms of the service, we came here for a birthday function for dinner. Despite booking several days in advance, they didn't have enough seats on the table. Rather than rearranging things so we could all sit together, they insisted we had to sit at separate tables. Furthermore, despite both tables ordering within 2 minutes of each other, the second tables food took 15 minutes longer to come out and they refused to split the serving of dishes that were ordered at both between tables. We were given a very half-hearted apology in passing and offered no compensation for the experience. Whilst they were fairly busy, I don't think that's much of an excuse for the experience.
In summary, I'd definitely give this place a miss, even if you value quantity over quality.
Recently, my friends and I visited this absolutely good Japanese restaurant with such a variety of food and just eat all. Looks like local restaurants can provide you a good experience too.
Had a great experience the last 2 times I ate in 1st time here at Caulfield a few years ago and then the footscray site. But last night was really disappointing. The staff were very friendly but service was slow the food was slow in coming out. People were looking around wait to see where staff where to order etc.
I was not greeted at the door, nor did anyone check my vaccination/ check in status.
Took my friends out for the first time and I was disappointed that they did not get the same vibe I did on my first experience. Overall all food delicious and you can't beat the value on price!
They need to lift their game on customer service. Won't be back at this location.
They use so much msg that me and my friend felt like we were floating above our bodies. Even the vegetable dishes were dripping with oily msg.
Fantastic food and friendly staff!
Ordered everything on the first page of the menu and it was top quality dishes
Good food but the service is terible. 30min for 3 dishes. The tall guy with the glasses dont even care about our order
All You can Eat Japanese. Good selection of dishes, but the quality is not fantastic, but at the price of $36.80 a head, it’s great value.
We ordered takeaway from here tonight via Deliveroo and a more insipid and tasteless meal, we cannot recall. The agedashi tofu was just abysmal beyond all belief and the rolls were just horrendous. The $32 beef was old and clearly from the deep, deep freeze, and there were no highlights anywhere. We actually laughed at how low-brow the food was and after trying to call them several times, to no avail, we realise they must be actually closed, but just operating for takeaway, selling old food from the freezer. A worse meal we cannot recall.
A fantastic all you can eat japanese restaurant. While there could be a little more range, the food that is on offer is fantastic! The service is really lovely. My wife mentioned it was my birthday when we went just in conversation, and they gave us a sparkler with our dessert! It was so wonderful. Thank you for such a lovely meal Okami Caulfield.
Okami has refined the art of making Japanese dining simple for everyone. You just point to the menu accompanied with pictures and in a flash you have deliciously prepared food on your table. The food all round is awesome and I'm not even going to single out any particular dishes as our favourite.
If the food wasn't enough for you to dine at Okami, the staff are courteous, responsive and respectful. The price of admission is great value and upon paying, it is hard not to leave a tip because you'll be overwhelmed with such a nice dining experience. Definitely our go-to place to get our Japanese fix and they never disappoint.
Just amazing place the waiters are so good they where great l guess the waiters is really what makes the place as well as the food that's why lm definitely going back
What you expect for a all you can eat. The service was poor however, not bringing out food we wanted. We had to tell them multiple times we ordered something and it happened came yet
Fantastic! Cold, rainy Tuesday night at the Caulfield restaurant - and still a queue out the front for the 7.45 sitting. Full restaurant, but very comfortable, cosy and not too noisy compared to the deafening Saturday dinner at the Chelsea Heights Okami a few months ago. Staff were very obliging, couldn't fault the service. Food was excellent and plentiful, especially considering the price. We ordered 6-7 entrees for the three of us, followed by another sushi platter and 4-5 mains - then black sesame ice cream and green tea taiyaki. Very full and happy:)
Staff are wonderful and food is lovely. Food is always consistent, every serve is the same and every time we go its the same great quality.
Had my boyfriends birthday there and staff helped with the continuous ordering by our big group, helped with the birthday cake and didn't rush us out at all.
Had the all you can eat banquet which was good value for money. Food was tasty and arrived really quickly. Very busy and difficult to get booking do get in early
