Ocean Catch Fish & Chips

Went to pick up the family pack I ordered based on the website only to find out when I get there that it had gone up $15, ($37 to $52). I ended up getting it as we needed dinner and didn’t want to muck around organising anything else. I said to the owner that he should probably update his website, to which he replied “I can’t do the internet”. Won’t be back going back.

The food is great, the owner caked my order in sea salt and vinegar, which I love. I was pretty happy with what I got.

Just terrible experience. Owner yelling at his staff while I waited. Ordered 2 fish burgers for my children because they don’t eat meat and instead when I got home I found we had received meat hamburgers. Disgusting! Also, my piece of flake was under cooked. I also ordered a fish cake and when I got home it wasn’t in the bag. This is the worst fish and chip shop on the Peninsula! We have ordered many meals from other fish and chips shops from Dromana to Mornington - this one is the WORST. It’s simply terrible!

Someone will die one day eating this disgusting slop. The fish was off as in slimy and the chips and burger were old and fell apart in our hands. The worst I have ever experienced and had to throw the food out. When I rang the owner he seemed to have a well prepared answer for everything like he's an expert at defending his dangerous menu by blaming the suppliers. I have checked his ratings on other sites and the same dire warnings from others. Avoid if you want to live

Order via menu log. Wrong order sent. Called shop and told they have wrong order out and that I can keep that and come collect my order. Then have to wait 20 minutes at the shop for my actual order. So now food I don’t want, delivery fee paid for food I didn’t receive and wasted time waiting for an order they mucked up. Very frustrating.

Really annoying that they only seem to start cooking on arrival, even though I ordered in advance.

Love the food though, grilled fish with breadcrumbs and the fried pineapple are yum!

Extremely disappointed. Chips were good but the fish.disgusting. Oily, sticking to the paper. Batter was white. It was not appealing at all. Owner was short tempered, and quite rude. Shouldn't be working in customer service.wont be going back there!

Honestly the worst slop is the only way to describe this food. The fish was so oily it stuck to the paper that was soaked in oil.my son refused to eat it and I wouldn’t feed it to my dog.

I stopped buying from here months ago after the same experience, Main Street Mornington fish n chips has closed for a while so I thought I would see if things had changed. Well it has.its worse!

Money down the drain and ended up cooking for the family. I won’t be back!

Used to go here all the time was always nice, but the last few times, the food has not been up to standard the fish is much smaller, and price has gone up, very oily, I bough dinner tonight and after I had paid for it I was told don’t take long we are closing, I was literally gone not even 5 minutes, when I went back in other people came in and ordered and not one of them was spoken to the way I was about not going far or about them closing shortly the service was very rude, I won’t be going back I will be finding a new place to buy my fish and chips.

We ordered a pack for 2 not long ago and the tiny amount of chips was disgusting, and the size of the flake nothing but a complete rip of never going back.

I ordered fish 2 potato cakes 2 dim sims and The fish was a funny grey colour potatoes cakes like rubber dim sums ok won’t go back that man in there is very rude should have stuck to my. Usual place

I get today is the busiest day of the year for fish and chip shops but be honest with your customers. Quoted half an hour when ordering. Still waiting an hour and a half later. Plenty of people who ordered after us have got their food and have probably finished eating it.

Back to Wilsons rd we go!

Abrupt staff consisting of teenagers who clearly hate being there hence treat customers with disdain. Food is ok but we've found a significant better fish and chip shop in Mornington - tried this place a few times and although there seems to be a high staff turnover (sais something about management I guess) it's not worth the negative vibe for generic food. Try it if you're at peace and have forgotten what it's like to be around entitled teenagers.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. These fish and chips are as good as the Beach Box in Mt Martha. Cooked just right, with the right degree of crispiness, wrapped hot by a pleasant young lady and handed out quickly. I had a seven-minute drive back home and they were still hot when I arrived. I asked for one potato cake and received two, thanks.

After getting food poisoning two years ago from dodgy grilled fish I stopped eating their fish and just having the chips. The chips are cooked pretty good.
So last night I thought id give the fish a go as it's been quite some time. Well, guess what. Its happened again thanks to their dodgy fish. I will never again order from this place.

Got to be the worst fish and chips on the Mornington Peninsula. Even the kids refuse to eat it, the fish bits tasted like it was cooked day's ago and then recooked.

Placed an in order over the phone told 20min. When I arrived I had to wait till it was cooked. Waste of time placing an order over the phone. Quality of food is rubbish. Flake was terrible, chips over cooked, scallops over cooked. Don't waste your time with this pathetic place. I can tell you this as long as my bum points to the ground I will never come to this dump of a place again.

Never ring to place your order as he will not start cooking until you pay for it.
Fish and chips are good, but he's a very arrogant man.

David has been running this fish and chips shop for years and every couple of days he'll spend a couple of hours on his own in the back filletting the fresh fish so you cant beat it for freshness. The fat chips are a hit in our household, the kids love the nuggets too and we love the burgers!
