Rally appalled that this business is charging 50 cents per eftpos transaction when it costs less than 10cents.

Disappointed with meal - oily and soggy potato cakes & chips. Overpriced, poor quality food. Will not be eating from here again.

Called up to put an order through tonight around 7pm, was told over the phone that it will be a 30 minute wait, arrived there a little after 30 minutes as quoted, and there were customers spilling out of the shop!

Went to pay and was slightly confused, it looked as if they only printed out the docket to be paid- I thought the order was already being prepared and would have been ready at least 10ish or so minutes after we arrived there, but felt embarrassed to enquire about it, as the shop was packed, however we ended up waiting over an hour all up for it to come out.

There were a few people that ordered before us that were still waiting when we left! Some even asking for refunds and being reassured their order will only be another '5 mins more. ' I overheard a few customers saying they were quoted 30 minutes over the phone as well and were set back when they saw so many people already waiting.

The staff at this place were working under the absolute pump in 33 degree heat to complete way too many orders at once, customers were waiting outside in the heat for ages, as there was no room in the shop, wondering why it was taking so long, while more and more seemed to arrive.

I place this on the way the shop was ran by whoever was in charge tonight, whether it was the owner or a manager calling the shots, it was managed poorly.

It was a public holiday today and this place seemed to be one of the only Fish and Chip shops running, so being busy was understandable, however, at least be honest with customers regarding wait times/if you already have SO many orders at once, disconnecting the phone would be an option, as people were arriving exactly as we did ready to collect their orders, but had to pay on arrival, and wait for it to get started instead.

On a positive note, food was lovely and our order was received correctly, but please have more regard with what your staff can handle, ontop of drowning with orders, customers were getting frustrated with them when it isn't their fault that they have to do 1000 things at once- Tonight just appeared to be all about making a profit more then being organised.

I'm hoping that this situation was due to the enhancement of a public holiday today, and isn't a regular occurrence, because we would like to order from here again in the future, with the hopes we won't see workers as slammed as they were today.

UPDATE: Going through reviews, it does seem like this isn't a rare occurrence of paying for your order to start/the owner not treating their staff well. This is dissapointing to see, I truly hope things change, especially if I haven't been the only one to notice this.

The salt was only sprinkled on the top layer of chips, and not mixed throughout the remainder of the chips on several orders I saw while I waited. Had better chips.

Really really disappointing! It took SO long to get our order and when we finally got it, it was incomplete! The batter was awful and the fish wasn't cooked properly

Ordered $500 worth of fish and chips under different names and orders. It was professionally wrapped with name labels and boxed. For the amount of fish and chips it was done quite quickly considering peak season time. He also gave 4 bottles of coke for free along with half a dozen sauces. Overall very impressed

Went to Ocean Catch to try a different fish and chip shop i will say, the excessive wait time for a burger, souvlaki and some chips.was rediculous, there was hardly anybody inside who had ordered, to be charged $40 for what we ordered was insane.when we got home i will say that we were very disappointed, i found a hair in my souvlaki, guessing from the young guy who does the packing, because he had some long hair with just a hat on… was not tied back.the food was disgusting, the burger was horrendous, and meat patty was not cooked properly.the chips were okay.will never be going back there again!

The way this owner treats his staff is absolutely disgusting.we refuse to order food here due to this.

Twice had order short changed. Do staff know what half dozen or dozen quantities are. Also never sure if been charged correctly. Sick of it and not good for customers.

My partner and I went in to pick up our $70 worth of fish and chips for my family. When the staff asked if we wanted a bag, we said yes, the owner came over and said “you guys can carry it” and then went “you carry these” to me and to my partner “and you carry these” in a very rude manner.

Fish and chips was alright, nothing special. Customer experience was terrible.

Won’t be coming back or recommending this place to anyone after that.

There’s better places in Mornington.

My boyfriend ordered a mixed souvlaki over the phone. He wasn't told that they would charge him for the price of two since he wanted lamb and chicken. We went to pick up the food and he was told that it would cost him $25 for one souvlaki. Outrageous! Most fish and chip shops offer a mixed souvlaki for the same price as lamb or chicken, or a few dollars more. Asking him to pay double is such a rip off and if they sincerely expected him to pay $25 for one souvlaki they should have warned him over the phone. Very disappointed.

Overpriced fish, spent $40 on a pile of greasy flake. Get pizza instead. Flake should be $5-6

Despite the crazy wait time (being Good Friday it’s totally acceptable) this was the best Fish and Chips I’ve had since moving to the peninsula 3years ago. Definitely will be back. Prices reasonable. Customer Service fantastic and food crispy, well cooked and delicious. Thanks Guys. Happy Easter.

The owner was friendly though & kept me up to date with waiting times
Which warranted the 1 star

Poor quality over priced greasy mushy flake and under cooked potatoe cakes asked me 3 times if i wanted chicken salt and didnt put any on i feel sick

Crikey. Flake recently $6.50 now $9.50 a piece. For me that’s over the top and says to me, “Find another fish shop. ”

We ordered from here last last night. We are always told it will be ready to collect in 20 minutes. It is never ready in that time. I waited 25 minutes before I even left home and still had to wait another 15 minutes before it was ready. They didn't even appear as busy as usual. Our dim sims were missing but paid for. The potato cakes were overcooked. The seafood sticks were terrible. Flake is $9.50 per piece! The way the owner speaks to his staff is terrible. I keep going back but no more.time to find a better fish and chip shop.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING
After spending $85 and waiting a ridiculous time waiting, received the wrong order of some uncooked chips and a crab stick.
Called up and was told we needed to come in for a new order, which was not viable hence getting it delivered. Was also met with they can’t deliver or refund so too bad and come in tomorrow.
Went in today for a refund only to the thrown $70 cash and said they will cook some chips as we “received food already” which went to the dog. Stating the order was $85, with reluctance thrown another 15 and basically told not to use them.
With pleasure, all the negative reviews are bang on and how they are still in business is baffling.

Make sure you ask for the fat chips! Potato cakes are also amazing if you want a nice cheap meal.

Pretty awful chips, burgers also not nice. The guy behind the counter wasn't rude so that's a plus.its a shame as the location is handy.
