Nobu reviews
75Went here for a romantic dinner with my partner, was served by Johnny and had unmatched service to any other restaurant in Melbourne. Johnny provided us with great menu recommendations, was extremely polite and knew exactly what he was talking about. Food is expensive but regardless definitely a restaurant worth experiencing.
Yummy flippin food, black cod never disappoints, the vego bento box was good too, Sutinee was a great waitress, very attentive and nice!
Came here for a birthday dinner and was not disappointed! Worth the hype.
We had Melbourne Chef de Cuisine 7 Courses and every course was DELICIOUS!
Excellent recommendation by your staff on the dishes. I ordered the following on my visit on 27 Dec 2022
- Hiramisa Yellowtail Sashimi A$35.00
- New Style Salmon A$31.00
- Wagyu Tacos A$44.00
- Black Cod Miso A$65.00
- Blueberry Sorbet A$5.00
AVOID! Arrived at 7, placed order, waited an hour, 8: 15 food still not ready but was told by the manager that must leave venue by 8: 30.food finally arrived by 8: 20 and was only given 10min to enjoy your the food.
The food was delicious and the service was very good. This is the second time that I have dined at Nobu Melbourne and both times were great experiences.
The tables are a bit small and hard to fit the Bento boxes, but that was the only negative.
I would like to return and try more dishes.
Absolutely amazing place to dine! From the moment you walk in to to the moment you leave, the staff are super accomodating and make the whole experience. The food was fantastic, we basically rolled out! Couldn’t fault a thing, we ordered the 7 course meal. Everything was just enough to leave you ready for the next dish. Overall 10/10
The cold plates were beautiful, as is the vibes and decor. The sushi maki, we felt was a little disappointing in regards to the lack of flavours of the seafood, especially for the price. Service was polite but quite transactional without any explanation on the menu or dishes.
After having read previous posts and simply “For the Love of Food”, I decided to dine at Nobu. It turned out that such posts were grossly exaggerated in my opinion. The service was fine, there is no denying it. However, the food itself, well, it was just okay. Yes, we ordered the sushi, the sashimi and the much heralded black cod miso, among several other dishes. The level of noise was excruciatingly high, although uncouth diners seated proximal to our table were clearly to blame. Perhaps they thought they were still playing Baccarat or Blackjack. The cost was also much too high for the dishes presented and the overall “experience”. Based on these findings, I would neither return to, nor recommend, Nobu. There are definitely finer Japanese restaurants, both within and outside the city of Melbourne.
I'm sorry, but seriously? Who came up with these prices?
This is as far from Japanese cuisine as possible. It was beyond disappointing. I'll be honest, even without the price, the food is still decent at best, and downright awful at others.
Genuinely one of the worst restaurants I've visited in Australia, partly due to how much was paid for how mediocre the food actually was. (Also I don't usually get annoyed by dark diners but this place irritates me because of how dark it is for whatever reason.)
Service was socking.we were show to are table, had no staff acknowledge us, had another couple sat next to as 10min later and got there menus & waited on straight away, we had to go to the front desk to ask for a menus. To make it worse we then waited another 10 min before some come over again to serve us, we also had to wave her down as well! Food was really average compare to are last vist here! Was so disappointed and will not be coming back! Not worth the price in food or service
So over rated & expensive iv had better service & food in the crown food court! Would not recommend!
Any advice to this place, work on your customer service if you’re going to change $60 or more for one dish …
Wow to think we’ve come from Perth and treat ourselves at Nobu for a birthday dinner to experience fine dining it was a far cry from that. We’re speechless as it doesn’t even compare to the beautiful Nobu that we have in Perth. Need to step it up big time in all aspects of you want to charge your prices from service to food and everything in between. Disappointed
Always wanted to try and I feel it is rated where it should be. It's not like the best but it's good and delicious, but you're paying for it. Food was a bit slow to come out but staff attentive and friendly with things like water or drinks. Nice interior and view sitting near the window. Had the Bento Box to just simplify choosing, great range of food in it and delicious. I do feel there's better Asian options in Melbourne, but I'd say you have to still try nobu once for the esteem. Id enjoyed my time and had a nice lunch.
It didn't excite me! Had the set menu, the salmon in miso-musttard sauce was out of this world but yeah. Will try full menu next time
Can be hard to secure seats over the phone, however at walking staff are always polite friendly and accommodating. Cocktails and food never disappointment
Every single time we come to Melbourne we make the trip to Nobu and every single time we are blown away. The sashimi is breathtaking and you’ve got to try the wagyu steak, it is unbelievable. Melissa & Brian
Deluxe lunchbox surprised me. Black Cod in Miso is a must try, yellow-tail sashimi and beef tataki are also great.
Was recommended to order another main because the food might not have been enough then when we couldn’t finish it I asked for it to be packed for take away but because they are a “premium restaurant” they couldn’t do it. For a premium Japanese restaurant you should appreciate your ingredients and know the value of waste of food. Very disappointed that we couldn’t take it with us after being recommended to order more. Knowing that it was all going to be thrown in the bin was just horrible.
Food was actually quite good. Prawns were the best thing there. Cod was nice but keep in mind it is fairly sweet. I spent $500 that night for two people.
Just really disappointed that even after I said “will this all be thrown in the bin” the the reply was Yeap.
DO NOT OVER ORDER OR LET THEM RECOMMEND.

Nobu never disappoints. Came for a quick wedding anniversary lunch. The tenderness and flavours are so delicious. Cocktails were amazing.
Have been here for a couple of dinners as well - highly recommend the miso cod! Pricing is very fair for its quality of food and this calibre of food.
