I had a surprisingly pleasant experience yesterday shopping at Nike Melbourne Central. The CSR went over and beyond to serve me and naturally I couldn’t help but to buy way more than I probably should have. At the end the icing on the cake was a partial price match for me which I also didn’t expect. I highly recommend shopping there.

23/12 I received my socks! Thank you so much to the sales manager, Frances of Retail Prodigy Group for all the help. Really appreciate the assistance and am now happy:)!

21/12 Thank you for the response, I appreciate it. Contacted.

19/12 I attempted to make an exchange for the socks in store on 19/12 but my request was refused my the manager in store. The manager, Nicole said that due to them being opening and worn, I cannot return them; I tried on one sock and left the rest attached. There is no other way to try the socks on other than to open the packaging as they are packed and binded together. I chose my size according to what was written on the packaging but they did not fit. The product was not as described.

To add, the paper packaging of the socks were already quite creased/worn out and fading.

Furthermore, I am extremely disappointed to find out this is how a store manager acts. Her attitude, facial expression and tone towards my enquiry for an exchange looked like she was disgusted or 'grossed out' towards the socks. As a customer this felt degrading and unprofessional. As I mentioned before, there is no other way to try on the socks without opening the paper package. She did apologise that she couldn't do anything about it though.

I was reading the Nike Australia's website return policy and it says only items purchased 30 days or more should be unworn and unwashed. In my opinion, I believe the returns policy should align with the official Nike website too.

Original 18/12:
I purchased a 3 pack of cushion socks in size S yesterday, Thursday the 17th of December from the Melbourne Central store. I chose my size as described by the sock sizing information on the pack but unfortunately when I got home they did not fit.

I wanted to ask for an exchange so I called the Melbourne Central store this morning, Friday the 18th of December at 10: 18 am to ask if they could put a pair of size M on hold for pickup tomorrow. The lady I was speaking to said they could not as they only have two left in M and that they want to reserve it for any possible customers that may purchase it today.

I was slightly baffled by this as I feel it does not make a difference waiting for potential future customers that will purchase these socks, when I myself am already a current customer with an issue I would have really appreciated to be solved. I also asked, 'If I come tomorrow and find they're all sold out, can I receive a refund? ', she replied yes to this.

What I would like to ask is, what difference does this make waiting for a future customer and placing one on hold for a current customer so they can make an exchange at a maximum of 24 hours?

Is this Nike store against holding items in this situation?

If I travel to the store (the store is not close to me, approx. 1 hour travel) and find they're all sold out, I will be asking for a refund anyway.

The lady I spoke to didn't sound too polite or friendly either and more on the rude side/inconsiderate, it could be because of reception or just my understanding; but nevertheless I wanted to add this in.

I feel this is a bit odd and disappointing, especially from the business - caring for a current customer side of things.

I was quite keen on these socks to use for fitness and was also looking to purchase more activewear items but this experience deters me from purchasing here again.

I would have to agree with the other issues people experienced with their customer experience/service in this store. It's just OK, considering the brand and how it is represented in general media, in my opinion, it should be improved. On stock, seems like other stores are faster at stocking newer products than an official Nike store itself. I would prefer to purchase else where/online but since its closer, I went to check it out.

Not a big issue for me but also saw a comment on how the staff just wear the nike merchandise, I agree with the previous comment. In my opinion, I think a nike store work uniform would look more professional and a lot neater (ex.footlocker staff have a distinct uniform).

Would give zero rating stars. Staff is so untrained! I was dealt with a member named Sana and all I can say is he was so rude i was after a specific pair of shoes for my son and he said they weren’t in stock. Fast forward to an hour later I proceed to go back into the shop and I had got help from another staff member. The second time I went back the shoes I were after was there all along, the first worker he is very incompetent worker and not helpful at all!

No stars would be more appropriate for Nike Melbourne Central. The Nike staff don't seem to be trained. When we visited the Nike Melbourne Central store it was as if the staff were at sea with customer service and even their own databases. Their work attitude was atrocious. My son wasn't allowed to stand or walk in the spikes he tried on, because the staff were worried about the parquetry flooring. Fair enough, but why not supply a rubber matt? Nor did the Nike Melbourne Central staff know the spikes were for athletics—we were advised they were for footy. The Nike staff knew nothing about incoming stock or if sold out items would be restocked.

Even though we have received countless emails from Nike prodigy group reminding us to spend money at their retail store, when we tried to purchase something they couldn't locate our account by name, by email or by phone number on their database. The sales assistant insisted it was a common problem because the store was only a retail Nike franchise and our account was probably with a rival Nike store and not with Melbourne Central. She was so sure of her understanding, she wouldn't budge when I read the details from an email on my phone with the voucher amount etc. It's such a shame Nike doesn't have more professional retail representation in Melbourne. A vending machine would provide a better experience than the Melbourne Central Nike store.

I dealt with Jenna from the Melbourne central store. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and showed excellent customer service. She went out of her way to find the right shoe for me and made sure I was happy with my purchase. I will be sure to shop again with Jenna and would recommend everyone to deal with Jenna.

I really would like to love this place, but the staff is not their best asset. Either the store was understaffed, or folding t shirts * (which no one was buying) was extremely important, there were customers waiting to be served and no sale assistant was available. I went to the Nike Emporium instead, and had a great experience making my purchase there.

The male employee was very rude when I asked about some trainers in a different colour. I was quite shocked. I bought the trainers from somewhere else.

I would buy a $250 tennis shoes if the sales guy hadn't looked at his watch at the time he was explaining the differences between them. It was almost the time to close the store, I know, but I hadn't other time to go there and I think selling a tennis shoes like this, worth leave the store 10min later. Very rude! Of course I felt very embarrassed and left and I will never came back.
