Nhu Lan Bakery

My regular is bun Bun Bakery in Springvale so if you've had one from there you know what I'm comparing it to. This place was reccomended to me as the best in Melbourne.
Crispy pork roll. Minimal ingredients. Really small amount of vegetables, chilli and coriander barely present. Pork quite dry. Only got it at 2: 30 on a Saturday I thought ingredients would be good still. I'm really not quite sure of the hype but I need a Bun Bun Bakery banh mi asap to get the memory of this one out of my head.

The Banh Mi is famous in and amongst Melbourne foodies and there is usually a massive line just to get into the bakery so it's well worth a visit.
We got here on a rainy day in COVID lockdown so there were only 4 people a head of us. BBQ Pork Roll & Crackling Pork Roll were great and the baguette was exceptional. The rolls for Banh Mi were small but the price is cheaper too, of you're really hungry but 2. Overall my usual Banh Mi joint beats the overall quality (taste) and size (message me for details if interested) but this place was very, very good too especially the bread which I would definitely go back for. Staff are very kind and friendly as you would know from the lovely Asian community.

Was pretty disappointed today grabbing a banh mi which is smaller from a regular sized baguette (was about 4 inches only). Hardly filled my stomache and good for just a snack

A popular Vietnamese bakery in Footscray. The staff are pretty friendly and they offer items. I had the crackling pork banh mi which was not bad but nothing special. Overall check it out if you’re in the area.

Bánh mì Như Lan lúc nào cũng ngon hết. Có một vấn đề là tay đeo bao tay nhưng vẫn cầm cash và thối tiền cho khách, xong vẫn đeo bao tay ấy làm ổ bánh mì khác? Mình không hiểu nổi, nhất là trong mùa Covid này nữa.

Banh mi here is always great and yummy. But the way they handle cash is not properly. They wear hand gloves but receiving cash at the same time, then keep using the gloves to make another banh mi. I feel it so improper but was reluctant to speak out. But I was so concerned, esp during this covid time.

Good banh mi. Has been featured on post cards TV show but to be honest you'll get similar banh mi quality in most other bakeries nearby. There seems to always be a line outside the store and sandwich may not be worth the wait.

Decent banh mi with additional offerings from the bakery. Not the best that I've tasted in Melbourne but sufficient to satisfy cravings.

Can get rather busy but queue moves quite quickly.

Everyone says that this place is great for Banh Mi and they are right. I had the chicken and would do so again. A bit crowded in a time of social distancing but great value and taste.

Nhu Lan has the best bahn mi in Melbourne! After going to the Richmond location for many years and it sadly shut down, this is the only place to get my satisfying bahn mi fix. The bread is nice and crispy like a banh mi roll should be and the fillings are meaty, fresh and crunchy. And you cant forget the fatty pate and creamy Vietnamese mayo! Footscray is about 40 minutes from where I live but I always make sure to stop by here when I'm around. I will say that the price has increased by a tiny bit, but that's understandable as the operating costs for small businesses has been rising.

My fave, i have Bahn Mi nearly everyday best Vietnamese rolls in Melbourne. Lovely ladies, very popular usually a line but worth waiting and though the line moves quickly.

Very good BBQ pork bread

The queues pretty much tell you that you're on a winner. I drop in here every-time I visit Footscray for a Pork Roll. Good amount of filling, price is spot on, ingredients always fresh, service friendly even when flat out.

There are a number of different options if a traditional Pork Roll is not your thing.

Ok so this tasted good, but I'm not sure the tofu option is vegan. I'm allergic / sensitive to egg and had a slight lasting mouth reaction after eating it, so I presume that there is egg in the tofu batter / mix somewhere

Excellent banh mi, always busy and consistently fresh. The BBQ chicken is awesome. Reader beware, this reviewer recommends if you are to eat two of these sandwiches you accompany them with a beverage, of which there are a vast array of choices. They are conveniently located in the left side of the store.

Simply the One of the best Banh Mi in Melbourne. I have tried them all.
The other one is in Springvale.

Crunchy, fresh roll. Wish there was a little more meat in their ham and bbq pork banh mi. Nice ladies too.

Probably the best bakery in Footscray. The fresh buns both smell good and taste superb.always a queue out the door during most hours of day pre/during/post covid.
