Nhu Lan Bakery reviews
65$8 for a bread roll which is good for value but you get less and quality tasted old and stale. Barely any filling and sauce, mainly just ate bread. Would not return.
I am very disappointed. Staff don't speak English very well.
I have spent $41.00 in this transaction and one of my rolls was meant to be crispy pork, which costs more then bbq pork, only to find when I got home that it contained mostly bbq pork and a few crispy bits on top.
Why? To save a few cents? I just don't get it.
What happened to Nhu Lan? The serving sizes have drastically changed and unfortunately not for the better, the fillings were scarce. The service is still cold and mechanical, and the queueing system is still unorganized and chaotic.those negatives I can deal with as long as the Banh Mi I get in the end is worth the wait.even the rude aunties line cutting and pushing in was not enough to deter me, until recently. Better off buying the tiger bread and eating it with the pate & egg butter like a pauper.
Bánh Mì breakfast.
Having a really yummy BBQ Pork (cha siew) bánh mì from Nhu Lan Bakery in Footscray (Melbourne, Australia).
So popular, the queue starts at the entrance! 3 queues and three speedy ladies making the bánh mì so it’s quite a quick process.
Flavours are wonderful but, in my humble opinion, there is way too much meat. A modification to cater to western preferences I guess.
People eat huge portions here.
Their name is probably inspired from the famous Saigon bakery/restaurant of the same name (famous for its mooncakes and bánh mì). I must say they do this illustrious name justice.
THIS IS SO GOOD, GET THE BBQ PERFECT AMOUNT OF SAUCE AND MEAT, A HIT OF CHILLI FOR SOME KICK AND FRESH BREAD ROLLS 10000/10
Easily one of the best bahn mi in Melbourne. Tried the tofu bahn mi and bbq kebab bahn mi - both were full of flavours, good portion of tofu/meat, lovely fresh and crispy bread. It's obviously very popular as there is always a queue in front the store but it moves quite fast. Will took forward try all the other bahn mis there.
Unfortunately banh mi is not as good as it used to be. Minimal fillings for the price, not as flavoursome and the bread was so dry. Maybe an off day but definitely worth trying other places.
Uhhhh its best to pretend there is no other banh mi shop in Footscray, the rest suck! Wish it was open on Sunday
If this is considered one of the better bhan mi in Melb, then I have to say the standard has dropped. The filling is so little compared to the bhan mi in sydney (Marrickville) and SO DRY! 2 stars for the quality of bbq meat.
Going to Footscray? Your best bet for the best Banh Mi in the area. Crackling Pork is my go to.
Keep in mind there'll be some queue at times.
Consistently great Bahn mi. Made perfectly. On par with the best in Melbourne, including Springvale.
An unspoken secret. A small item hidden in small writing on the menu board. The Pate Mayo roll. You've tried Bahn Mi from all over Melbourne and now it's time to give a lesser known item a try. My advice, with a dash of fresh chilli. They are open from 5 which is great for early starters and the staff are friendly and make great Vietnamese rolls. I won't be working over that side of town for a while but I can't wait to go back.
This is just moon cake heaven… I think that they should be a franchise! The food is just too tasty. The durian mooncake reminds me of my home country Malaysia. Try this if you haven’t!
There's always a queue at this place and I'm usually part of it! The banh mi here is delicious. Bread is just the right level of fluffy and crispy, decent amount of filling, fast and efficient service. Don't be frightened by the queue, it moves very quickly. The mooncakes are nice too. If you're just buying bread, walk straight in and get it (pay at a separate counter).
Obviously the best Vietnamese ham rolls pork rolls. I've been going here for 20 years hope it never changes.
Went to try their banh mi, and I would say it would have been 10/10 if they have put more pate and fillings
If the world was ending and I was driving past, I would stop to get a Bahn Mi and be very happy to wait the 15 min in line to get it. I would die happy.
One of the best Vietnamese banh mi in all of Melbourne. Sadly prices have increased alot but would prefer this over subway any day.
Can have a long line during peak lunch hour but generally any other time you can quickly get a banh mi to go.
Staff work quickly and banh mi are made fresh daily. Quality of the meats, vegetables are all high quality.
Will continue to go here whenever i feel like banh mi
Visited this place as it’s known as the best Bahn mi in Melbourne. While it was pretty good, I wouldn’t make a trip out here specially. Many other Bahn mi places in Melbourne are doing the same quality / taste / price / etc.you’ll also find a very long line at all times of the day.
I have try the pork roll there, bad service very expensive double the price in Sydney. Taste terrible. Don’t know why people queued up to buy.
