67 We came in on a Monday night and it ended up as one of the best dinner we have ever had in Australia. I ordered the age dry rib with dauphinoise potatoes, it is one of the best meat cut I have ever had in my whole life. Tender, amazingly tasty, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Dauphinoise were delicious too.
Great atmosphere and great decor too. The service was quick and very friendly.
If we were living in Melbourne that would be a local favorite for us.
Surprisingly good food, really well done. Food has the feel of finer dining, although it's still a pub feel and has that louder ambience associated with that. Would ręcommend though
Meals are slightly on the small side (for a pub meal). I ordered a well done steak, and I was happy to see that it was butterflied and cooked through, although it tasted a little bland without the jus that was served in a small pouring jug. There didn't appear to be any seasoning and the texture of the steak seemed like it was almost boiled, plus there was no smoky flavour to it. The chips were cooked well and to my liking. The waitress was very friendly and provided good service.
Opened on 1873. Still going strong. We had a nice team lunch there with good food and pleasant environment. It's a classic place
Noisy, overpriced "hotel" right on top of a bar. Do not stay there if you value your sleep. Complete disappointment, especially given the price!
Frequent visitors, have eaten here dozens of times. Place buzzes, especially on weekends. Food reliable, good value, wines ditto. One small carp: lately the gnocchi has become entree size only. Had to order another dish. At $25, it should be large enough.
Not your average pub. Sleek interior design and cosy ambience. Food is constantly done really well. We had the specials on this day - Beef brisket burger - 10/10. Crunchy and soft bun with juicy and tender beef paired with a nice slaw and slightly spicy and smokey barbecue sauce. I've also had their starters on a previous visit. Worth a mention - arancini balls were amazing. Definitely one of my favourite pubs in Melbourne.
