If you’re in Melbourne, this is one place you MUST visit! It has so much you could spend the entire day here. I love how there is a good range of exhibitions both collections and temporary exhibits. They have a couple of free tours and places to just chill. Highly recommend!

Love the NGV. A warm and inviting free art gallery, with a wide variety of art from many different artists, eras and categories. Plenty of space, the exhibitions are always interesting and it's definitely worth an hour or two exploring or relaxing in their Cafe and great gift shop. You can also sit outside the gallery by the waterpools for some sun, beautiful.

Great gallery for the work displayed. Don't expect any engagement though and if you are visiting a paid exhibit, don't expect them to limit admissions, as they seem to oversell shows which can make it feel like conveyor belt art.

A great place to learn about arts. Even if u don't understand arts u can just stroll around and admire the creations. I spend around 2 hours to explore all the 3 levels.

I have had so many great experiences here. NGV is the giant of cultural experiences in Melbourne. My parents have a picture of them in front of the fountains when they first arrived in Australia in the 1980s.the tradition will live on. Can't wait to bring my own children here one day to put their hands in the fountain.
