National Gallery of Victoria reviews
66 A place worth visiting when coming to Melbourne. Very beautiful and spacious. Many other areas to see.
Admission is free. Near Flinders Station.
Wonderful exhibition of post impressionist Pierre Bonnard, someone who I wasn't that familiar with but loved his work, especially the colours used in his works
Honestly i dont understand people that leave negative review! What do you expect? This is my fav place in Melbourne.place to get inspired, educated and contemplate
When I come to Melbourne again, the Art Gallery of Victoria is still the choice of Ailai. The paintings and artworks collected in the museum can make people spend a day inside
The NGV may not be the Prado but it certainly is worth visiting. What an eclectic and wall represented collection of new and old works, It's astonishing that somehow the NGV acquired incredible 'The Banquet of Cleopatra' - Painting by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, worth visiting the NGV just for this alone. - Hamish John Appleby
Didn't go in this premises.they discriminate against people based on medical choices. Shame on them.
Consider annual membership - there’s exclusive events and discounts at the gift shop, NGV tea room, garden restaurant and for ticketed exhibitions. I also love the NGV nights with a group of friends!
Loved it, make sure that you have a few hours to wander around.
History is amazing along with modern art.
I like going to the NGV. It has great on going exhibitions and very interesting alternating ones. They show case very important and influential artists and art works. The place is spacious and easy to get around. Friendly staff and good dining options.
Great experience used to be a member. Lots of free exhibitions and friendly staff able to guide you through exhibitions. Lovely Cafe on the first floor and comfortable eating place on the ground floor. Design store with many interesting gifts and purchases related to gallery exhibitions.
Very nice building. Lovely exhibits. Recently went for the Escher X nendo exhibit, absolutely beautiful!
Chanel Manifesto is an amazing experience. Once in a lifetime. Fabulous intricate pieces and thorough narrative surrounding Gabrielles life and design
Always a great place to go. I've gone a couple of times most years and always see something new. I especially like the range of sculptures from antiquity. Being able to look at South American art and compare it directly with Greek, Roman and Egyptian items from the same time periods is a delight.
Magnificent artwork, quirky artwork. Monet, Manet, Renior. Need a couple of visits to see them all. Some fabulous installations.
Always a great place to visit. Wasn't busy when I went during the week which was great as you had more time to view everything
Been going for 50 years. Never disappoints. Could spend hours in the Hall contemplating the ceiling
Relaxing Sunday afternoon wandering through the collections. Great atmosphere, well designed - even the transition between different floors was smooth. So good it's free entry, bags can be left at the cloakroom. Spent about 2 hours exploring and still have more to see for a future visit.
How lucky i am to have the NGV international so close to me, they always making something new to showing to people.currently the have some amazing local artist masterpiece.some classic oil painting are gorgeous, from time to time im like to pay the NGV a visit to find out what’s going on, everyone will love this place.
NGV is one of my favourite places in Victoria. I highly recommend becoming a member if you live in Melbourne. The exhibitions are always incredible, and most of the time, you'll be able to experience a live performance piece as well.
