Myers Street Family Medical Practice reviews
42Got in at 7.59pm with my 2 year old who had cut his finger. "Sorry we're closed. " This is a business, not a place for health care. Go to A&E. Don't waste your time.
I cannot speak highly enough of Dr Mike Rankin, who absolutely went above and beyond anything I have ever expected from any GP, when I came in with a torn medial ligament in my knee. I would like to thank him a thousand times for his thoughtfulness and thoroughness - I have met very very doctors of this caliber and I’m so glad that I was able to access this level of help when it was so needed. Big shout out to Myers St Medical Centre.
Been a patient here since moving to Geelong **most** staff and Doctors are great **most** of the time. Caught a few on a bad day over the years but it’s a large, busy clinic and you’re bound to get that every now and then. Range of services is awesome and the nurses out the back are gems. Adapted really well through Covid. Dr Birrell is amazing, go see him even if you’re not sick (lol).
What is the point of having an online email query section? 3 emails I sent to this practice regarding a repeat prescription and didn't have one single reply, very poor
The doctor is too afraid to look at a patient who returned from China a month ago out of quarantine and had become a bit dizzy from low sugar on a night shift for like an hour and told us we can't look at it because is a flu symptom XD tell me when was low sugar level a flu symptom and the virus does'nt even have flu symptoms as one of the traits of the virus XD liers every where
We were treated like garbage by a doctor when we took our sick 2 year in old in for a Saturday appointment. The doctor spoke to us for 7 minutes, smirked at our answers about our son, didn’t believe that his immunisations were up to date and then charged us $105.
Most Dr's are lovely and thorough here. This is not a bulk bill clinic but some Dr's will put it as bulk bill depending on your issue and how long your appointment was. Can be difficult to get to see a 'regular' Dr. In a year of going here I have had to see at least 5 different Dr's. But all have been good.
Had to wait over two hours in the waiting room, when I was finally seen the doctor did not do a single test on me and ended up prescribing me the wrong antibiotics. I also had to wait over 40 minutes to obtain a medical certificate for work. Paid over $100 for this extremely poor experience not to mention the risk in giving someone the wrong medication.
Always happy with our experience at Myers Street Family Medical! All doctors we have seen have been amazing with us and our son. Reception staff are always lovely.
Professional service. Typical wait time as any doctors but having Pathology, a chemist and a cafè also under the same roof is an easy all in one. Can reccommend
Very poor and rude service from receptionist. She was most unhelpful when my husband booked a job related medical only to find out on the day of the appointment that she had double booked the time. No apologies no nothing. Not the first time engaging with this rude person either. She is messing with peoples careers by messing them around like this. Avoid if possible.
Went to the Dr with pains in the stomach when I was 5 weeks pregnant. The Dr sent me home telling me it was completely normal without even touching my stomach or checking me at all l, even after I insisted something wasn’t right. Charged for the consult of course. Fast forward one week I was in extreme pain at work. Went to a bulk billing Dr next door and she called an ambulance straight away, turns out I had a 21cm cyst in my stomach, an abnormality which was apparently very easy to feel (had the Dr from Myers St bothered to check). I had surgery to remove it the next day and my baby was ok. I pay for private Dr because I hope that more time and care is spent during the appointment. Apparently not the case at Myers St.
The reception and nursing staff are wonderful, could not have been nicer nor more professional. However, the Doctor I saw didn't seem to care that I was in extreme pain after having surgery, a fact that she could clearly see. I even had documents from my normal doctor (I was visiting from overseas). She didn't even try to contact my usual doctor sighting legal restrictions about pain killing medications in Australia. I understand this problem but I was made to feel like some kind of drug seeking criminal and paid $80 to be given a prescription for some normal Panadeine that I could purchase over the counter from a pharmacy in my own country for about $6.00. Please Dr Lam don't make people feel like criminals or liars when it Is blatancy obvious that they are in genuine need.
My profound thanks to the rest of the Meyer Street Medical Centre staff, they were truly lovely and caring.
Walked out 1 hour after my appointment time. Was not told they were running behind. Avoid if you can.
Saw Dr. Sangesh Chaudhry as I needed an urgent script - walked in with no appointment just before 8PM on a Friday - I was seen after about 10 minutes and out the door with prescription from the chemist in another 10. I have been there when wait times are much longer, it is always worth ringing first and asking.
Doctor saw me 45 minutes after scheduled appointment time. No apology for delay. I was directed to this surgery for work place injury by my employer’s medical provider. Consultation over in less than two minutes, without any investigation, and told to see my own GP.
Would definitely NOT recommend this practice.
Reason for one star rather than NO star, receptionist friendly.
I went here after hours as my normal GP was not available. It was a short wait reception staff were nice. Doctor I saw ordered relevant tests and treatment room nurses were very knowledgeable and lovely. Doctor called me as soon as test results came back. Follow up appointments with specialists all said doctor took the right course of action. Can not fault, highly recommend.
Absolutely fantastic practice with wonderful doctors who made me feel welcomed and at ease as well as being very informative. So happy to call this my family doctor and will be recommending
Went to see my GP Barbara Ward in early October with a mild temperature and very bad night sweating, I have a pre medical condition and a low immune system, I had darker pee than normal.
She told me that the dark pee could be something I ate mmmm? Told me to go home and drink plenty and rest.
She only works at this practice Mondays and Thursday so I went back Thursday she ran blood test all was ok. This went on for 3 weeks until I mentioned to her should I have a chest X-ray, she said in your blood test nothing showed up in the lungs. So I insisted on having a chest X-ray, which she finally agreed. This is the first time I went to her with a problem after seeing her for 2 years, she just was good a writing out prescriptions. So I went to get the X-ray and the lady at Lake imaging told me I should go see a doctor ASP, so I went to another doctor to get my results and he informed me that I had pneumonia.
Dr Barbara Ward, if I can could her a Doctor was very incompetent.
I'm still fighting this pneumonia nearing 4 week after first seeing her, I have since changed my GP who is so thorough. Stay away from Barbara Ward if you have a serious medical condition.
Thanks team for great service. Dr Saater and Mary are the best. Best medical practice I have ever been in. Thanks
