58Food was very good! Only downside was the grumpy bartender lady that made us feel uncomfortable!
Food Average, no sauce with side of chips. Roast servings meh, Parma meh. Not overly bad just need a bit more improvement. Especially for $25 a main.
When I arrived staff member could not see my booking (which had been confirmed, so waited around till they sorted it out). My rump steak tasted nice but I could not eat much of it as it was full of gristle which made me wonder if it was not some other cut of meat. I ate what I could, so did not expect a refund, but when I mentioned it, I was told there was not much they could do about it. I thought in the interests of customer relations, they might offer a free dessert or drink at least. The hotel is historic and has a nice cosy atmosphere with the log fire and brick interiors, however it all looks a bit tired. If they were to invest in updating the interior, toilets and improving the food, it would be a destination more appealing to all the tourists that visit this beautiful area.
Are you paying your staff properly yet, or still paying well below award with no penalty rates?
Plenty of places around that pay their staff fairly. Money better spent.
The food was enjoyable, and the music that was played gave a good atmosphere. I liked that it was catchy, but it wasn't too loud to prevent talking to the person next to you.
Best pub on the mount. Nothing beats a classic local pub.
Great food and service
Pool table
Great atmosphere and people
Live music
Felt like stepping back in time to 1976. Only thing missing was a few mullets. I'm sure if we stayed longer we'd have spotted one. Great place to mingle with the natives.
Old hotel with a rustic atmosphere. Food however was a great disappointment. Looks ok on the plate but lacks flavour as if had been watered down. Slow cooked Pork Belly was dry and bland and the Parmy was a processed piece of chicken again with no flavour.
I met a friend for lunch on Friday. Hadn't been here before. The day was awful outside, cold, wet and windy! It would have been nice to have been able to sit by the fire, but the fire wasn't lit. I ordered a Parma which was nice and my friend ordered nachos which looked great but were just OK. The atmosphere was very dark, tired and for quite some time, we were the only two in the bistro and then two other patrons arrived. The wine was good, the coffee ordinary. A bit disappointed, as I'd wanted to try this hotel for quite some time.
Good food, good service, but unfortunately the place looks and feels really outdated, could really do with an update of sorts. We were disppointed that a lot of the meal options were out of stock when we went on a Sunday lunchtime.
Service was good but we order roast of the day which was lamb it was disappointing it took quite a while to be served one meal came out with slices of lamb but the other was just pieces it did taste great but not well presented and the vegables were disappointing just a few peas carrot broccoli and 3 small halves of potato no pumpkin
Awesome spot. Kicks off on Thursday night and parties on till Sunday. Bit quiet rest of the time. Keep your clothes on
Wow the customer service is pretty shocking. Went in looking for a dinner around 7: 30 the nice waitress advised it would be an hour wait for a meal, which was fine but a bit odd given the meal area had about 2 tables filled. She recommended we head round the corner to the beer garden/bar for the time being. Headed over as recommended and was “greeted” by an older waitress who was less than hospitable. Asked her what ciders were available and she replied ‘we have forty’. Well that’s all good and dandy but not so helpful for making a choice, and whilst maybe this was obvious to her there was no signs or menus visible of what WAS available. She then mentioned what they had on tap which I was all for. Later on, as it had gotten late I asked what the food choices were for the area at that time of night and if pizza was the best bet. Was asking this as someone who is not a local and being under the impression their kitchen was closed, she replied ‘you can’t bring pizza in here’, I said no worries but I was told you aren’t serving food so just wanted to know what you’d recommend as a local if this late at night if pizza was the best bet, and she stated I could get a meal if I ordered in the next 5 minutes then repeated her self ‘you can’t bring pizza here’. It was a weird, unwelcoming place and the drinks weren’t cheap and obviously won’t be coming back.
Meals were lovely. Service was great. Good prices. Staff Very thoughtful and caring towards our kids
Good, honest pub grub. The venue itself has a lot of potential but as is, it's honest and very cosy. The staff are down to earth and very accommodating and the chef Mark always seems to go above and beyond to adapt the menu to suit our dietary requirements.
Spent a wonderful night here recently with my life partner Daniel and his interesting friends. We drank beer, danced and partied like sweet summer children. Was a blessing to see a great live act perform, and to get the chance to interact with them. Definitely will be back soon.
What a waste of potential. Great location and beautiful old building but completely lacking in inspiration. Meals were average and the roast lamb slices were microwaved! Staff swung between rude, clueless and just generally lacklustre. Meals came out 30mins apart and some drinks that were ordered never came at all. The interior fit out is an absolute disgrace. Haphazard and dilapidated. This place is in desperate need of someone with some enthusiasm and vision to reinvent it. As it is, we won’t be setting foot in it again. I genuinely hope that someone in management or a shareholder sits up and takes some accountability for what is a tragic waste of potential.
Lovely traditional pub, top quality food great menu and on Sunday nights they have a great open mic / jam night, all welcome. Nice friendly staff too!
