Mark proprietor /chef and his lovely wife are doing an excellent job, very welcoming and maintaining the ambience the hotel is so famous for. The setting throughout, the food and friendly, courteous service is excellent. My wife and I frequently dine and entertain at this unique historical hotel, enjoying every moment of our favourite Parma night. Excellent dinkum Aussie meals and atmosphere. Cheers Vic.and Doreen.

We ordered a chicken parma and the prawn gyoza with a side salad. The Parma wasn't anything special for $25 you could tell it's not home made and frozen and then deep fried and then add the rest.so charging $25 for that is a bit rich.the dish had Verry few chips and a small salad. (The chips were unseasoned). The gyoza was overcooked the pastry fell apart and the salad dressing just tasted like praise mayo and wasn't appetising at all. The staff member that seated us was Verry nice, however the woman at the bar didn't seem interested at all and came of as grumpy and had no customer service skills and had no interest whatsoever

AMAZING! I arrived at 6: 20 for my 6: 30 booking and was immediately met by a lovely staff member named Vanessa Michele Bateman. Once I was seated I was handed a menu that included an amazing variety of delicious food. I ordered a medium rare porterhouse steak that was cooked to perfection and had delicious gravy along with chips and salad on the side. The service throughout the night was some of the best I've ever encountered and everyone was extremely kind.

Meh. I wouldn't say don't go here, but the food was just OK. What was frustrating was that everything was about 20% more expensive than you would expect. Post mix - $5, generic mains - $25. I guess that everyone has been hit hard by COVID, but I think the price to quality ratio is a bit off.

Very disappointed. Had online booking nice an early for 1.45. Arrived 1.30 And were told it will be 45 minutes wait. Walked out. Absolutely pathetic organisation.

On Melbourne cup day we decided not to follow the crowds, instead a trip to Alfred Nichols park and the Rhododendron gardens was in order on such a magnificent warm day. After the park we unanimously decided a beer and wine were in order and we found ourselves sitting out the front of this charming hotel in the shade enjoying an $8 pale ale can and a $10 glass of bubbly. We didn't eat but we're revitalised enough to try the gardens. The staff were courteous and polite and we agreed it was worth a try another day as the food coming out to others looked pretty good. Always happy to support local businesses when we go anywhere and try out new places.

Decided to stop here for lunch as the main area of Olinda was packed and parking was unavailable. Had no trouble in getting a table, checked out the specials and realised they were a little understaffed post Covid. The staff were helpful and friendly and we ordered the Garlic Prawns and Veal Scallopini. Sadly the meals were OK but nothing special. The Garlic Prawns in a creamy sauce were mediocre and the Veal Scallopini was overcooked and like eating rubber and came with frozen beans, not fresh. Would I go here again? Probably not.

Yeah nah. Went there to celebrate a birthday on Saturday night. We asked to sit by fire, it was too low to warm us. It was a cold night. It just got colder. Food could only be described as disappointing. Veal scallopini was cold chewy and in a gluggy floury sauce. Daughters burger was burnt. Roast of the day stone cold with cold greasy carrots. Asked for tomato sauce and charged $1 each for a teeny container. What!? Used to be good. Table was sticky too. Sadly not worth the money?

Porterhouse was great, horrible weather but warmth from the dining fireplace was very inviting!

Mt D pub hasn't changed a big. The bistro has beautiful Tudor style interior. The public bar desperately needs a fresh coat of paint & tidy up.

Only giving 1 star as you can't give none! The place is dirty, food on the floor, far over priced! Appalling excuse for cocktails, followed by poor service.

This was a very disappointing meal. Service was good but the quality of the food left much to be desired. We were the only diners at round 6pm on a Sunday night. The food explained why this lovely old pub was so empty of customers. Try burnt freezer type chicken schnitzel, oven cooked frozen chips and a small quantity of salad leaves straight from a packet with bland mayonnaise. Truly awful. There were so many staff members floating around trying to look busy. Why oh why can't management see their way to employing a decent chef.

A very nice pub.not modern. Good food and drinks at a good price. No play area for the kids but a few arcade games and they are made too feel welcome. It's now one of my young sons and my favourite places for a meal. A easy drive from Melbourne

Yeeewweeee Mark the publican is as friendly as and great pub fair. Something about the pub smell (mountain air, smoke'n beer) makes for a cosy winters meal, even in summer

I had an emergency wedding right before covid and needed someone to provide food as our caterers could not do it in time.
Mt dandenong hotel were kind enough to accept the offer at $60 per platter. But I was quickly very disappointed by what they had put together. Half of it was just lettuce. I'm disgusted by what they thought was acceptable as $60 a platter and we ended up having to buy pizza for our starving guests. I should have asked you if you would serve that at your wedding. Really guys.that was a really poor effort. Very disappointed!

We feel so lucky to have this place in our neck of the woods.
The meals tonight were out of this world.
If you need a mountain hug, served on a plate, you'll find it here.
The wait staff are next level, smiles all round and the kind of young people you'd be proud to call your own.
The Mount D is the place to be!
