Mt Dandenong Hotel

I love the atmosphere here, yes its older and a bit outdated but it's a classic. Our meals were delicious and the service was excellant.

Tonight we went for a meal,

The glasses we got were disgustingly dirty, the staff taking our orders were rude.
The garlic bread had enough oil to service a car.

The lady who got us a new drink was extremely friendly and the only reason I would have anything nice to say about this place.

The food was seeped in oil, and was not enjoyable. I have never had such a bad meal.

I’m so very disappointed, and will never recommend this place to anyone, save some money, and dissapointment and go to McDonald’s

In the land of Mount Dandy, where hotel stands tall,

Frozen they were, or so you'd believe,

The Chicken Kiev Arancini, a curious dish,
Deceptive indeed, with nary a rice swish.
Arancini without rice, a twist quite bold,
But surprisingly tasty, as we were told!

The Garlic Prawns, oh, they were a delight,
Served on a bed of rice, a culinary flight.
Related to Arancini, though not in a ball,
Yet the flavors combined, a dance for us all.

And let's not forget the Calamari's tale,
Defrosted, perhaps, but it didn't fail.
Most pieces not tough, a pleasant surprise,
In Mount Dandy Hotel, they won the prize!

Chef Adam Back, a culinary whiz,
In the bustling kitchen, he'd surely fizz.
Running off his feet, yet with skill to spare,
He served up dishes, beyond compare!

Tasty reheated meals, brought forth with speed,
In this wondrous hotel, fulfilling every need.
So don't be fooled by their frozen attire,
At Mount Dandy Hotel, your taste buds inspire!

Had the open steak sandwich, the steak was cold, the chips were nice. Not just one cold steak sandwich but three peoples servings, never again.

Lovely staff, a relaxed atmosphere and great food at a reasonable price. One of our favourite places to go.

Delicious meals and generous serving for what you pay.
The venue could use a bit of TLC, but if you're not fussy about your surroundings, then this is a place for your next meal.

Bad service, wouldn’t let me use the toilet unless I brought something I found the bartender very RUDE. I don’t recommend them to anyone

WOW just WOW! A hidden little gem! I highly recommend. Dad and I were impressed. The food here is just amazing. We followed the road for a lovely drive and it ended us up here. On a hot new years day (1.1.23), the place was open, welcoming and its just a lovely old fashioned pub, priceless. Please don't change and thank you:) (dad said he'd crawl back just for the chips lol) So peaceful and tranquil surroundings and hearing beautiful Kookaburra's. Update 07.01 we were so impressed with our first visit we came a second time, just a beautiful peaceful place with great food (a special thanks to the restaurant staff, exceptional service xx) This will be a regular and recommend to family and friends

Cold, rainy Friday and I am chilled to the bone. Lunch at the Mount Dandenong Hotel warms me beside the open fire, cheers me with a red wine and repletes me with tasty food. Incredible value, generous serves (senior's lunch) and helpful, friendly staff. Now I need to find a reason to visit again very soon! (Edit - that second visit was the following week! Today we lunched there yet again. Magnificent meal enjoyed by our group of 8.) Update as of January 12 - I just keep going back it is THAT good!

Called in for lunch today. Gotta say I was thoroughly disappointed! Pepper steak pie with stale pastry and way too much pepper the other person in my party had a Parmigiana that appeared to have been pre-cooked, it certainly wasn’t freshly cooked. We both left nearly all of our meals.

Highlight of the meal was the beer being cold and the wedges were decent

Unfortunately my experience was not a great one. The meal was very ordinary and service even worse.

Possible the worst hotel I've ever set foot in. In saying that the locals seem to love it.

Food was lovely, service was great. However the dead rat on the floor in front of the arcade games left a bad impression on us. Especially when we alerted the staff and they seem nonchalant about it.

Super cosy pub with good servings of food.very welcoming and friendly group of staff members at the bistro.

As for the sports bar, well I've been to a few sports bars but the smell of a beer soaked carpet was just very off putting felt like I was 18 again.

The place n service seems to have gone down since the lockdowns, can't blame them they tried, take away food, they tried a lot of things to get them through but its hard.

Good spot to have a beer. A bit disappointed with the wait for food when the place wasn't that busy

Nothing to complain about, good pub grab, staff were super busy but still friendly and helpful.

Good old country vibe pub!

Good feed with exceptional portions, will fill up the biggest of eaters.

A nice place to stop at whilst visiting the Dandenongs, sit in the front beer garden, enjoy the fresh air whilst enjoying a cold beer off the tap with a decent feed.

Plenty off the street parking available.

2nd visit and didn't disappoint with the expectations that come with a country-like pub!

Food was good. Female staff member was very kind and helpful, we had a small baby in our group and she was most helpful ensuring we were seated in a good position.
