Mr Ramen San reviews
57My favourite Melbourne ramen. Staff, food, atmosphere, price - all perfect. Such a Melbourne gem
I rarely ever write very negative reviews.but honestly, this was the worst ramen I’ve ever eaten in Melbourne. We have a few mouthfuls and then that was it, we were done and left to go somewhere else.
Maybe it was the batch of broth? We are not sure, but we are certain that we will never return. A very surprising experience given the reviews.
A hidden gem - one of the best options for ramen in Melbourne both price and quality wise. The black tonkotsu is to die for. Vegetarian options are also available.
My partner and I always used to walk past this place unsure if we should try it. I regret all of those times because it really is one of the best ramens in Melbourne. I had the spicy tonkotsu, chasu ramen and gee it was amazing. Great portion size, amazing broth, good toppings, no skimping on the food.
Theres really no cons here. If you're like my partner and I, feeling unsure. Walk in next time you won't regret it.
Great service here and so yummy. The tonkotsu charsu ramen is delicious, and I also love their mushroom side dish with natto (fermented soy bean) which is great with a little side of rice. Your table will have a little condiments tray eg.chilli oil so you can control the spice level - but most importantly garlic, because I always want a huge hit of garlic in ramen. Will be returning?
Truly the best ramen in Melbourne.
The noodles, the broth, and the toppings all came together like a symphony.
Excellent Japanese food. Fast and friendly service. Nice ambience. The ramen dishes are a speciality. Located in an arcade.
Mr Ramen is a hidden Gem. Had their signature tonkotsu ramen and it was absolutely amazing! Could not have asked for anything better in the meal, besides more of it. Would highly recommend eating here.
Absolutely incredible service and super friendly staff. And my food was served to me in a matter of minutes. Such an all around incredible place. Plus the food was very delicious.
Now i'm not going to pretend to be a Ramen expert but I do like my ramen and have had the pleasure of eating many a bowl throughout the world, including some of the best places in Japan - including a Michelin starred ramen bar.
Going into this meal I was super impressed by all the reviews and the high rating Mr Raman San received across the board. Was it to be that I finally found the best ramen in Melbourne.
Let me begin with the atmosphere and staff - absolutely flawless even in the time of Covid. Super friendly, attentive and always providing service with a smile from the greeting at the door to the moment we left with a arigatou gozaimasu.
The shop itself transports you back to a little arcade in backstreet Tokyo with its Anime and Asahi beer adverts on the walls, its mix of bench and table seats and the hive of activity in the kitchen.
Now the food.
We ordered two bowls of the tonkotsu ramen one with the roast pork and the other with the Spicy chicken mince.
Both dishes were enjoyable and definitely worth a try but one of the best in Melbourne? I'm not too sure. Both did what they said on the box - Pork broth definitely tasted like pork but lacked any real flavour building beyond that initial taste. The home made noodles, whilst delicate and the right consistency to taste really lack a flavour component that built on the broth. The meat also lacked any significant seasoning and flavour enhancement which all combined, whilst enjoyable, was a bit one dimensional.
Over all I would recommend trying it out if you are in the area as it is an enjoyable meal but I do find it hard to believe it is one of the best in Melbourne.
The quest continues.
Nice balance of flavour
Even the broth was drinkable.
Suggest to order another Charsue Rice and soak the rice into the broth after finish ramen, it will bring you to next level flavour.
Tucked inside the Mid City Arcade, this is a hidden gem if you are a ramen lover. Worth the queue. Staff were helpful and friendly. Their mixed mushroom is worth to try for.
Staff didn't know what came with what dishes, dining with intolerances made this a waste of $14 for a meal we couldn't eat
Amazing atmosphere, amazing food and amazing staff! Would happily return every day for lunch or tea.
Nice little genuine place. The broth is not too bad and the noodles are good. However, we were disappointed by the チャシュ.
Good ramen in authentic surrounds. Sort of place that would be good for a few beers and some food after a late night at work.
Amazing ramen, the broth was creamy, delicate and Full of flavor, service is quick and efficient, you will leave full and with a smile on your face.
This place is really lovely. It is small but has a lot of character. The staff are very attentive and there are two vegan ramen options on the menu. Both are really tasty and I left an empty bowl as the stock was delicious!
Best ramen I’ve had at the price point. Chashu was bursting with flavour and the noodles were springy. Definitely recommend this.
Fantastic small Ramen house, full of atmosphere. Had the Tonkatsu Ramen with pork and it was full flavoured and tasty. Prices very reasonable and service was fast and friendly. Great place for a good meal.
