MoVida

MoVida is one of my favorite restaurants in Melbourne so we couldn't wait to revisit when lockdown ended. My girlfriends and I went last night and we were left disappointed. The OG menu items like the smoked fish, anchoa and croquettas were all great. Some of their newer, seasonal offerings weren't as good, especially the oysters with the watermelon sorbet - it was lacking acidity and even with the watermelon, tasted too salty. The worst thing about the night was our waiter, an older man who was rude. He started with explaining the menu very slowly and rather condescendingly, and when we politely said it's okay, we've been here several times, retorted that he's not a mind reader and doesn't own a crystal ball (!). He also insisted an item was not gluten free (it was) and then had a little argument with another female waiter (who we loved, she was great). Not the usual MoVida experience this time.

Lockdown is over and I could not wait to get back to Movida and it did not dissappoint! Food, wine, cocktails, service and ambiance perfection as always, I was ready for the experiece to be maybe a below their usual brillance coming out of lockdown, but nope, 5 star rating across the board for Movida, far out I have missed Movida so much and so happy to be back there celebrating life! Movida is my happy place:)

Refused to refund deposit even thou we provided vaccination proof. Absolutely robbery. I will getting consumer lawyer involved.

Out for my mums birthday, restaurant did a solid performance checking patrons for check in and vaccine certificates. 5 stars to the waiter serving us, he was wearing pinkish mask. 4 stars overall because one waiter consistently grabbed the already sliced bread with his bare hands and served, even though the tongs were next to him. 5 out of 5 if I hadn't seen the bread to dish happen more than twice.

Absolutely beautiful environment and scenery that cannot be denied and the food absolutely beautiful hand crafted tapas, but the only thing stopping me from giving this a higher review is that the wait and bar staff seemed very uninterested in talking, and I feel like a heavy appeal to come to tapas bars are for the conversation especially when one is seated at the bar, but they were very kind even allowing me and a friend to slip into the bar on very short notice on a busy day, but the only thing stopping that 5 star is just the uninterested bar staff, highly recommend this experience

There is definitely a good reason why Movida is the iconic top contender for Spanish cuisine in Melbourne, every element from food to service is faultless. We decided to make a visit to the Original restaurant located in the famous Hosier Lane, one of their many restaurants they’ve opened since 2003. The menu is a seasonal mix of tapas, sharing plates and ever-changing specials, with an aim to bring an experience of culture and fun.
We ordered a few things from each section of the menu, and made sure we left room for dessert. The drinks menu mainly consisted of wine and beer. Each dish had us salivating and wondering why the hell we hadn’t visited sooner, with the Octopus and Empanadillas being the standouts from the night. What also impressed us was how laid back yet efficient the staff were, sometimes when restaurants get too popular they end up dropping levels of service - this is not the case here. We felt extremely welcomed and can’t wait to try more of their restaurants.

Wow, movida has a good reputation and it is well deserved. Everything on the menu is amazing and the staff are super helpful and very knowledgeable aboit the food and the wine list.

Great night full of good food and wine to celebrate end of yet another COVID lockdown. Love the vibe here, great service and the food were delicious.

Or fav was the croquettes of the day and the abalones. I'm a sucker for a good flan and it was creamy smooth and down right delicious.

Can't wait to come back here again.

Amazing Sangria.
The portions will serve three people at most. So be aware. The dishes are very tasty but smaller than I have been told by the waiter.

A well refined tapas experience. Flavours really well considered, and really enjoyed the vegetarian options. Touch on the expensive side, but well worth it. Recomend-o-meter: high

After corona happen i can’t come to Movida anyway we finally got to Movida. First i ordered glass of sangria. That was not too sweet and wonderfull. Also we ordered Duck leg&Rice and intercostal skewers. The meat was really tender and juciydefinitely movida is gorgeous place.
We will return for next anniversary?

Very warm environment, nice drinks and amazingly yummy tapas. Can't get enough of the Remolacha. Golden beetroot and goat cheese very well compliment each other. Pez Real is stunningly good too. Ah the smoke flavour was so well presented! The kingfish and nut sorbet are so made for each other! Abulón is shockingly good as well.

Absolutely out of this food world.superb drinks and food selections. The set menu just blew us away, and staff could not do anymore to accommodate our palate and needs. By far as culinary experience you just cannot miss while in Melbourne. Thank you for making our evening and having some insightful wine recommendations that superbly complimented our meal.

MoVida is one of my favourite restaurants and probably one of the best in Melbourne. The food flavours are mouth-watering and presented beautifully. The Beef Cheeks are to die for and must have. The service is very good.

The food was divine and the service was impeccable. We kicked the night off with two Margaritas that were made with love and quenched our thirst! Everything that followed was outstanding, the wine, the tapas, the main meals.everything! Money well spent!

I was struggling to find a fun restaurant for Monday lunch. Movida is the best one I found. The set lunch is great value! I am very impressed with the prawn and lamb, highly recommended.

You're in great hands. Friendly staff. People having fun in the kitchen. Not stuffy.
Class on a plate. Good atmosphere and I found the high stools we sat on very comfortable. We had the set menu which I highly recommend and it was no problem to swap out items if you share different tastes. Well done and compliments to the chef. 5 out of 5.

Interesting Spanish tapas restaurant.very popular on weekends. Food is great and unique-not the usual tapas that you see at a taperia. Selection of wine is reasonable

Got there on a very rainy day, walked in with my (not cheap) umbrella stowed away with the intention to keep it between my feet under the table, but upon arriving at the table, a waiter took my umbrella away without asking. When leaving, my umbrella was nowhere to be found, and all I got was an "I'm sorry", and then the waiter walked off never to return, leaving me standing by the door before I had to leave and go for a walk under the rain.
