Moroccan Soup Bar reviews
68Fast and friendly service. It was a set 3 course menu which costs $45 and you get plenty of varied vegetarian food options. Well worth a try!
Been meaning to go to this place for a long time. Did not disappoint. Fantastic experience.
One of my absolute favourite restaurants. Great for when I’m in the mood for vegetarian. I’ve eaten in at their new establishment and it’s as delicious as ever. I usually get takeaway once a week and it’s always on point! The pricing is very reasonable too considering they cook everything fresh daily here.
Food was delicious and hearty. It's $45 for a banquet and you definitely do not go home feeling hungry. If you're low carb or dont eat pita this place is not for you haha.
I would give 5 stars but my only gripe is due to being a set menu there was no information on what we were eating as the waitress just put the food down without saying what anything was. I really would have liked to have known.
Food is excellent, however, the prices keep going up and the food delivery is a complete shambles. Every delivery I have received over the last 6 months has been missing key items that I have paid for - dips, deserts, chick pea bake, etc. I love the food and have been a loyal customer for many years, but my patience with the delivery service is really wearing thin.
I was excited too find a Moroccan place too eat in memory of my late mums delicious cooking from north Africa. I travelled 45 minutes too get there and it was nothing but a bad memory. I sat down and told the first waitress that if it tasted anything like mums I was happy. She seemed too be a very nice person. After the dips, another waitress asked me where was my mum from? Later she accused me of being a food cretic. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I was interrogated! The questions kept coming, she asked me what I did for work in her angry voice and angry looking face.you don’t know me so mind your own business. Luckily I was not feeling too well so I kept my cool and had takeaway for my mains. All I can say is I have never been so insulted in my life like that and I will never ever go back there. This is a prime example of people just simply going mad after covid and these people have become paranoid about the world. Sad night it was and a bad experience. I would never treat anyone like that so I don’t expect to be treated like that also. Thanks for reading
An interesting experience.
We were directed "around the back" and waited 25 minutes before being asked if our order had been taken.
We were told that the food was vegetarian and asked if we had any allergies.
I was hoping, since it was the Moroccan Soup Bar we might enjoy an interesting soup but was told that we would be eating an indecipherable "set menu".
The food was tasty and servings generous but the bill was staggering. The takeaway offerings are much better value.
The temperature outside was 10° and it was not much warmer inside: we froze!
Bit chaotic with regards to the seating arrangements but the food made the experience worth it with great vegetarian spread. Their chickpea bake definitely deserves a special mention. The prices have gone up just like everything else around you and you can't blame them for it.
Told that it will be open at 5 on phone and was walk in only and when we reached they said they open at 6 and are fully booked out so not sure what to believe
Great food, so many incredible flavours, ridiculously good portion sizes in our banquet for four
Literally my favourite place in Melbourne.
I have dreams about their chickpea bake.
Beautiful way to experience humble and generous dining.
The porterhouse steak is to die for!
So fresh you would think they have a farm out the back. A real farm to fork experience. Next time I'll try the Tunisian kafta.
The best food I have eaten on my last 4 years since I arrived in Melbourne. Absolutely delicious. The staff was polite and helpful. Solid 5 stars. Will be coming back before the end of the month.
Was worried it would be 'spicy', but no, the food was flavoured wonderfully and extremely tasty. So filling, but didn't leave me uncomfortably bloated.
Excellent dinner out with friends, staff were lovely, service was timely and friendly. Will definitely go here again.
Delicious food, great variety, fab value and friendly, lovely staff! What more could you ask for?
Over the years (10+ years) my family has been regular customers. We had the opportunity of visiting twice in February and we were disappointed at the cost and quality and found it wasn’t value for money at all. Ad per usual the staff were lovely and accommodating however the food offering and what you actually get for the $39 banquet has declined. The pita dish is always amazing but everything else is a little average.
Lovely dining experience. Staff are so lovely, and really knowledgeable on flavour combinations Accommodating for gluten free and vegan options.
Disappointing experience unfortunately. The table staff were clearly under-trained and overworked; not allocating tables properly (so that we had 5 people on a table clearly too small), and not knowing the set menu well which was, well, a set menu. We also had to enquire with the wait staff when they brought out the incorrect number of food items which is never nice because it's not their fault. Most unfortunate is that the staff were clearly stressed. Food was decent (albeit expensive), but hard to appreciate in this environment that felt like it was hanging together by thin threads.
Yeah.mmmm.the food isn't as good as it used to be and it's a bit too pricey now.sorry.
If you are Moroccan I wouldn't recommend. Harrira has white beans in it! So, what a joke! That was also literally the only Moroccan dish that the 'spoken menu had to offer!
