Montezuma's Mexican Restaurant & Bar - Parkdale, VIC reviews
58Average food unfortunately. The Fajita with chicken had extremely dry overcooked chicken and guacamole was simply avocado dip with no spice. Asked for some jalapeno sauce to add some flavour and was charged for it. The fish taco was ok. Pulled pork nacho no flavour and very little actual pork.
Biggest thank you to our amazing hosts, Benny and Pearl. Not only did they look after us super officially but all the other amazing staff did too. We are a massive fan of the classic margarita cocktails and they were delicious. The restaurant is super busy so make sure you book well in advance! Highly recommend.
Casual, simple and tasty. We didn’t expect “authentic” Mexican food so we weren’t disappointed – it was a lovely dinner overall. We had the pulled pork nachos, and two combination meals #7 (beef and chorizo). The lemon margarita was tasty too.
First time here tonight. The food was really interesting and delicious. The staff were lovely and very smiley. Made us feel very welcomed. The margaritas are awesome and the young woman making them was an absolute gun. The churros are to die for! I'll definitely be back! Thanks so much for a lovely dinner!
Pretty disappointed for our 1st time at the restaurant in Parkdale. Mole chicken was super dry/overcooked and the sauce was somehow bland, despite all the herbs and spices it supposedly had. Enchiladas were also pretty basic.
Margaritas were good, if a bit small for the price. Probably a first and last for us.
Very disappointing. Ordered takeaway - food lacked any flavour, looked like everything had just been reheated and over done.
"Lively, Aztec-themed restaurant serving Mexican dishes like burritos & enchiladas, plus cocktails. " far from it place is trash ordered the garlic prawns tasted like 5 week old prawns stewed in sea salt.took one bite asked for a refund didnt get one said 'this is how it always is'. Yeah the nachos and cheese dont make me pay for **** prawns place is trash and so is the manager
We visited recently and couldn’t speak more highly of the food and service. Meals were hot, tasty and succulent. The Margarita was perfection. Would definitely recommend to our friends.
We absolutely love montezumas parkdale. The family owned franchise is the best of them all at parkdale. We come here often and travel from the peninsula to do so. The food is always amazing and the owners remember us, staff remember our orders better than us. The food is amazing with the style of Mexican hard to find now days. Love the vegetarian enchilada, also margaritas but ask for patron tequila for the perfect margarita.
I have nothing good to write. We sit down to a sticky table, service takes forever, there’s no water offered for the table (with 3 kids too). The food takes 45 minutes to get to the table and it was NOT worth the wait. I can make better Mexican with a microwave and sachets from the supermarket. Everyone around us was having the same issues, which made for a less than positive vibe. I took my kids to the toilet - there was no toilet paper and there were old bugs lying around like the place hadn’t been cleaned in a while.
I wish I had something (ANYTHING!) better to say, but this place is appalling, we couldn’t get out of there fast enough and we will never return.
Been here a lot can never complain service is great and beautiful food look forward to my next dinner there
Really bad, my whole table was so confused and embarrassed - it tasted and looked like prison food. I got a $20.50 veggie enchilada and it was just a small wrap filled entirely with re-fried beans that just looked like beige slop out of a can, and the 'salad' was a tiny (condiment sized) bowl of frozen veggies. Nachos looked alright but still really bland and basic. Lot's of other places that will put effort and flavour into your food for cheaper.
Has to be my favourite restaurant
Laid back atmosphere friendly staff.tasty food served on a hot plate.only complaint there not open for lunch anymore.
BEST NACHOS EVER! My family are Mexican & this is by far the most authentic cuisine i’ve ever had here in Australia, really reminds of my nana’s cooking back at home. Gracias!
Excellent restaurant, reasonable prices, delicious meals and great, quick service. I had the La Jolla combination and it was very tasty and super filling. Will definitely be back!
We have a great time, every time. Food is fantastic. Cocktails are delicious. Kids love the decor, it just feels great, and we always feel well looked after. Sometimes you spot famous people here.
Great service from arrival to departure.
Always order my fav meal, Beef combination #7
1 enchilada, taco, chili concarn with Rice
Yummo
Besides the parking, although on a Tuesday night it was ok, Montezumas restaurant was amazing. From the wonderful greeting at the door, the table service and the food, it was better than any other Mexican restaurant that ive been too. My party had a wonderful night, thankyou
Didn’t taste mexican. Lack of flavours no seasoning. Margarita had no flavour, just tasted alcohol. Would not go again.
Popular in this area but it's fairly expensive for what you get. The flavors are so-so. It's like Mexican food in Australia in the 90s - bland, unadventurous and safe.it would be nice to have things like hot sauces and other condiments at the tables just to give the food some flavor.
Service is mixed. I asked a guy for the menu after we finished our mains and he brusquely pointed at the drinks menu, saying "It's there. "He showed zero care for upselling me and it felt like I was an inconvenience for asking.
The place is stuck in the past and hasn't added new flavors or elements to the menu nor new decor to the restaurant. There are better Mexican options in the area.
