Minotaur reviews
60 Just brought something from there.
They have a lot of stuff. A wide range.
But the thing I brought, like presumably much of their stuff, had one of those electronic protection stickers to prevent theft hidden under the normal sticker. That sticker prevented me from opening the container to get at the contents and took considerable time to remove enough so I could do so. Now I will have the task of completely removing that sticker which is designed to break up and is adhered very strongly to the surface of the container. I will then have to remove the sticky mess left behind.
This is not what I paid good money for.
I will not shop there again.
Minator is an amazing place, I go there every time I want a comic that my local store doesn't have or get some D&D stuff
Why do you have to put those security sticker ON the books. Put them on the plastic or under the plastic, taking these stickers off ruin the product.
Also, overpriced and unfriendly. Go to All Star.
Manga heaven. Super helpful staff, made me the best dad in the world when they found the edition my daughter really wanted!
We dropped in fairly late, place always has a lot of cool stuff to check out. Shelves are looking a bit bare at the moment, probably partly due to stock shortage during COVID and moving location I guess. Definitely worth a look if you're in town.
One of the few places left in Melbourne to get comics, merchandise or memorabilia. As of April 2021, there is a notice that it will move to a different location, a few hundred metres away.
I came here the first time with a friend.i got the cutest Osamu Tezuka Hyotan Tsugi keychain ever.they were friendly, sure its quite expensive but that is what to be expected in a pop culture store.i wish they got more posters + stocks but its ok considering it is COVID
This place is amazing talk about stepping back in time for me remembering a time I use to read comics all the time. I loved looking through the shop and seeing all the new editions. The staff were lovely and everyone looks so happy to be here!
Been many timea over the years. Stock has not updated all that much as its also running slow. Still a Gem to visit for yoir first time but repeat visits are worth less and less.
Can be a bit pricey at times but it's definitely one of the best comic/ pop / anime place to visit in Melbourne as it's a 1 stop location that has everything you need. The building size is perfect as it's quite large so they have room to fit everything. The staff are chill here too which is an added bonus.
Very friendly, knowledgeable & passionate staff. This places offers an impressive range of all things pop culture & a great library of comics & books!
Love this store have been shopping there for over 25 years even in the old store on Bourke St a true Melbourne institution
Great selection of manga for a reasonable price. At the moment their shelves are pretty bare because of shipping problems due to covid but they have some really awesome niche titles you wouldn't normally see elsewhere.
Massive selection of pop culture merchandise. Not always the cheapest, but made up by huge range of available items.
For anyone who has grown up reading comic books which funny enough they haven't ended up only online, because it can't and will not be the same and for every other boy or girl who likes to lose themselves in comic book stories there is only one place in Melbourne that is the the home of comic books. It's a basement paradise called Minotaur. That place has been around for over 30 yrs that I know about it, and the first time I went down the stairs to the subterranean world of judge Dredd, Superman, Spiderman I fell in love with that place. I spent hrs going around the place checking the comic books, let alone the figurines, t-shirts and all patches or buttons that you could buy. It has changed a few times but always in Elizabeth St and always down stairs in a basement, that gives it a feeling of being in another world and that feeling of the only people who would venture down stairs are comic book hard core readers. And I think they are moving again. To anyone who loves reading comic books or starting their love affair with them and if you haven't been there go the underworld of comic book heaven and lose yourself
These boys are the best in town, fade like no other and great customer service, they actually care about their clients highly recommended
I love this place to find good manga, wish there is a bit more verity in the BL section though, but perfect for any average manga reader!
I would always brush Minotaur off as a generic pop-culture store. Just another comic book store. Nothing interesting.
Now I realise I was far from right.
A few comic fanatics I've known would go to Minotaur every so often, and would say it was a decent store. Maybe not the #1 store in the area, but pretty reliable for finding lots of random bits and pieces.
A few friends recommended I check out Minotaur a few months ago, but I didn't really give it a chance until they started sending pictures of their weekly manga hauls. Eventually I was guilt tripped into checking out Minotaur, and I was impressed to say the least.
The manga options were vast and had me gasping on every second shelf, with some quite nieche reads. The pricing was decent, not dirt cheap, but definitely convincing.
That being said, it was brutal trying to find a 'volume 1' of pretty much anything, so picking up a new series was nearly impossible.
Checking out some figures (particularly Nendoroids), I was surprised by some comparitively low prices on popular ones that were sold out everywhere else, which is a major plus to me.
In terms of the general atmosphere, it's pretty cosy. The staff are quite knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The building is a bit odd to navigate at first, but you get used to it fairly quickly. Some spaces are a lot tighter than others, which can make moving around a little bit awkward, but overall it's certainly doable.
I been to a lot of anime stores in Victoria but this is the best one I been to so far but I do wish they had a lot more inuyasha, beyblade metal series and death note things there tho and more pokemon plushys lol
Staff are extremely helpful, and ther store is full of everything you could possibly want. If you want a more tangible experience than shopping online, here's your place!
