Minamishima reviews
92Excellent service. Great atmosphere. The food is good, with very subtle flavours. The specials are excellent. We went with the wine pairing. This was where we were disappointed. It seems as though the wines were chosen for being exotic rather than for matching or complementing the food. I would skip it entirely. Very expensive. But if its just for the food you can justify the experience.
Fantastic Japanese fine dining. Best sushi I've had in Australia. It was so fresh and melt in your mouth. Highly recommended for any special occasion. Staff were attentive and welcoming.
Chef Koichi Minamishima's restaurant is like stepping into a Japanese dojo. Beautiful, reverent, calm and immaculate. The service is warm, subtle with a meticulous attention to detail and care. Then there is the dining. Having experienced most of the Japanese fine dining restaurants in Melbourne this is by far the best in terms of the quality of the produce, the deliciousness of the dishes and the extraordinary theatre watching the Chef's skills. Chef Koichi Minamishima is so skilled he manages to flit with ease between extreme concentration and flow to being warm and personable to those he serves. We came away feeling extremely happy having had a memory to take with us forever.
We spent more time without food than with. Compicated food with complicated explanations. By the time it arrives we had no patience for the long winded commentary. And talking? Keep it down, this place buzzes with whispered conversation. Not the way I like to enjoy Japanese food.
The reason the price is so high is because of the service. Perfect presentation of everything at all times. The food is very tasty but if I could choose I would have only flounder and wagyu special over everything else. Such amazing attentiveness and presentation is what puts this place above others.
Quite pricey, but the experience is worth it if you cannot go to Japan directly:) Food is top notch and staffs are really attentive.
Came on a Tuesday and it was busy! Can't fault anything about it. Excellent fish. Attentive service. This is the go to place for sushi in Melbourne
Fantastic sushi the best you will find in Melbourne. The customer service is out of this world you really do get your money's worth. 10/10
It's good. Don't get me wrong. But it's not the best Japanese place in town, especially not for that price.
Place is very nice. I like that you can order with the laptop! Super handy! Staff was nice. Food was nice, chicken was well cooked but the skewer with Italian spicies was not nice. So much of the Italian spice on it (comes with a set of 5 skewers). Pork buns pretty avarage. Salmon sushi was nice. 3 stars at the food was nice, avarage and not that great that I wanna come back.
Always an experience dining here. Ambience, food, drinks, conversations with the friendly floor staff and chefs, all perfect 5 star standing.
Definitely a must try, one of the best omakase experiences in Melbourne. We were served by Chef Koichi Minamishima himself which was nice. Nice intimate vibe, highly recommend sitting at the bar so you can watch the sushi being prepared, really enhances the experience. It was about $250 pp, that was for the omakase, a couple of cocktails, sparkling water and a couple of extra specials that they had for the day. The price is well worth the experience!
Phenomenal dinner and immaculate service. Sitting up at the sushi bar is an absolute must do - being able to interact with the chefs during the dinner was a great experience. Location just off bridge rd, quite easy to walk past so keep your eyes peeled. The restaurant is beautiful inside and has a wonderful quiet ambiance. The degustation menu was delicious- a superb variety of fresh seafood, artfully crafted & prepared right in front of you. Absolute hidden gem in Richmond!
Eating here feels like a ritual, the delicately presented dishes lay out a harmony of exquisite flavours. You don't get overly presented food like you'd normally seen in most fine dining places, it's all about the taste.
The best Japanese restaurant in Melbourne! Amazing! High quality service and comfortable environment. Professional sushi chef and smiley staff. The best way to celebrate birthday Excellent value for money. All the food are so fresh and have a rich taste. The foods are divine like all the seafood dancing, swimming even having a party in your mouth. Fantastic! Scrumptious! I love it so much! ️️
Some of the best food I have ever put in my mouth. Great service, amazing flavours. Truly deserved of their top restaurants of the world rating.
Recommend to sit at the bar and try the sake too!
In fact, you can have the same food elsewhere at a much cheaper price.they are very good at making the place look fancy and high class.the waitress' and chefs' English needs to be improved.some waitress simply are not well trained, good attitude, but know little about their food or their restaurant.you will never forget the word dis-proportionality after dining there.
Welcoming experience, friendly staff and excellent food. Just wish the ipad menu is can be done better
I would give the service 5 out of 5. The only reason I would give it 3 is there are far better degustations in Melbourne to spend your money on. Nothing wrong with the food, but you would have just as an enjoyable meal at your local Japanese restaurant.
IMO Amaru doesn’t even have 3 hats and is ahead of this place.
This was the best sushi I’ve had since visiting Japan. We sat in the restaurant area so had other dishes as well but also a good serve of items from the sushi bar. Perfect! Service was impeccable, there when you needed them but not in your face. Highly recommend!
