69 Disgusting! My friends and myself visit here every week but the service is disgusting. They seem to have racism, I guess.
They served with a broken shaped cake which I doubt whether they use a saw or their fingers.
My friend recommended this cafe to me years ago, but I hadn't tried it until today, despite passing by many times.
Upon entering, a 'wait to be seated' sign was displayed, but there were no staff available to guide customers. I was confused about where to wait to place my order, especially with an open window next to the sign.
The staff seemed occupied with various tasks, such as moving food/plates to a van, cleaning tables, and serving food, but there was no one specifically attending to customers.
When I placed my order, the cashier didn't inquire about dining in or taking away. I assumed I could enjoy my cake with my coffee, but I was mistaken.
Firstly, as I'm not a coffee person, I won't comment on the coffee quality, but the size was small.
Secondly, the cake I ordered was meant to be consumed on-site with the coffee. However, when I attempted to eat it, I found it to be rock-hard, indicating that it needed to be brought to room temperature before consumption. My dissatisfaction stems not from the quality of the cake but from the fact that the staff didn't mention the need to eat it at room temperature.
I was eager to enjoy it when I was in the cafe, but I could not. So it’s still in my fridge. If the staff had informed me during my order, I wouldn't have purchased it.
After placing my order, I found a table, but it was dirty, and despite staff walking around, no one was cleaning the table. Additionally, there were no utensils, no drinking water, and no table service available when I was sitting there watering for my drink and food.
Asked for a hot water before the rest of group put their orders. Took 3 requests and 20 mins to get it. By that time the rest of group ready to go and mine too full and too hot to drink! A simple request.
Just had lunch there today, and the food and service were both excellent! And the cakes are amazing!
Went a few days ago with the girls - was greeted by the handsome boy on floor. Amazing food and service, will be back
One of my favourite spots for brunch and a cheeky pastry with tea! It’s like a little Parisian cafe tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Glenferrie Rd. The food is delicious and not like the usual brunch menus you get around Melbourne. The staff are lovely and friendly and to top it off it’s dog friendly!
Beautiful location with a cozy atmosphere and really good coffee. Great for catching up with friends or doing your own work in solitude
This cafe has the best cakes etc. I've never had a sponge cake or carrot cake better.
The cafe had great table service, and the breakfast was delicious. However, the service inside was slow and the desserts that came highly recommended did not at all meet expectations. I was dissapointed to say the least. The desserts are also over priced for what they are. I'd also get a receipt and check it, as I was charged for additional items. Whilst this was rectified, the time it took to do so was also very slow.
Have been before with lukewarm service despite the lovely food. Went in today, was completely ignored by all staff despite waiting for a table like the signage states. Another customer walked in, was immediately greeted and seated. I walked out and will seriously think twice about going back. Disappointing.
Had simple poached eggs on toast for my brunch. It was a real let down. Those eggs were pre-poached and I hated it. Spoiled my cravings. So at home this morning I had freshly poached eggs on toast - so good, far better than this cafe! Pre-poached eggs are a no-no…
I ordered a the vanilla and passionfruit sponge last minute and was accommodated no worries. I picked the cake up the next day and I don't think I've had a better flavour explosion ever. It was absolutely delicious!
Great place to have a coffee and a chat, earlier in the day is my preference as it does get very busy during the day. The delicious sweets and desserts that comes out on a regular basis from their pastry chefs are super, look great and taste good! Fantastic staff and knowledgeable barista. Keep up the good work Millstone!
Amazing service. Super busy but they don’t make you feel rushed or unwelcome when you’re sitting alone. And the food and coffee is just perfect
This cafe has some great service and energy to it, not too overbearing where you feel the need to make conversation but attentive and welcoming.
The coffee was tasty and they have a nice collection of sweets and salads to pair. The food has enough character to stand out from other cafe’s around as well. When we went the cafe was quite busy and we still received our meals quickly.
Today, at 3.30 I saw they were open (even though I saw theire closing time was 3pm), so I went in to order a coffee. "Sorry, were closed" I was told. As I left, a other woman was entering and ordered a coffee. She was not told that they were closed. So I am wondering why I was asked to leave, yet she was not?
Fresh cakes and pastries, good quality coffee and consistent service. Love this place and one of the best places next to the train station.
I ordered the Lemon Tart after trying this at a work function. It was divine! The presentation was amazing. The lovely team at Millstone also made an effort to have this ready for me by 8am too. I also tried the carrot cake and it was delicious. Millstone is amazing!
Millstone provided catering for an event I helped organise (hens) and it was so delicious and looked very presentable! Can’t wait to use Millstone for catering again in the future.
We have also been there for brunch which was great, good vibes, food and coffee is great. 10/10 recommend.
I used to be a regular. Coming with my family 2-3 times a week, dropping a good buck in there. Yes coffee is amazing, food is great but.the service is outrageously bad:
- Waitresses with a terrible attitude, treating us as a nuisance and eye-rolling at us for simple requests like a clean glass god forbid.
- A waitress that finished her break moved to the only place that was left in the shade just so she could talk with the next-table's customers. Young lady - even if it is your break, customer's always first! Needless to say I'd left the premises.
- Coffee's taking wayyyyy too long. About 15 minutes. Sometimes I just want to grab a latte and go.
- Went there this morning. It was 20 minutes before opening but I only wanted a croissant. It wasn't the first time I asked for it and in the past they'd been happy to serve. But today, the waitress says "till is not open yet" and "besides, if we'd let you in, then another customer would come, and another customer. IT'S A NO! "
.
So is the till not open yet? Or are you trying to eduacte us peasants?
Who are those clients that would come in one after another? Oh! You mean those LOCALS who are willing to give you their money? Ah so rude of them. What do they think to themselves?
And you know, number 1 rule in customer service - if a client asks for something that is a bit unusual, yes, you don't have to do it, but if it's only to pull a pastry off the shelve and take his money, maybe it's a worthwhile investment so he could come back again and give you more of his money. But guess what? IT'S A NO!
