Came last night with a couple friends, clearly understaffed which seems to be the theme for here at the moment, wait times after ordering took a long time, but the service did make up for it, with Dj taking time to explain the cheese and wine pairings was amazing and thoughtful considering how busy they were. The gentleman taking our payment as well happily had a chat with us instead of just taking our money and pushing us out the door.
Food was lovely, wait times for orders were slow, service was as good.

Friendly and knowledgeable staffs! They have lists of cheese to choose from different region, country and continent. Got some cheese and totally is love with how fresh and good it was! Definitely come back for more!

One of the largest varieties of imported cheeses in Victoria along with a variety of extras (fondues, quince paste and beechworth honey) and a pretty well stocked bar too. The staff are lovely, very knowledgeable about the cheeses they serve and often give very good recommendations. Have visited three times this week and we keep coming back. Definitely worth a visit

Watch out - they charge a 15% surcharge on weekends which is not disclosed prior to the bill! (The menu only references "surcharge" in tiny writing at the end of the menu - and it does not disclose that it is 15%)

Had a great time, staff were attentive and responsive! Only gripe is that when asked if I wanted sparkling water or tap water, wasn't told that it was $2.50 a glass for the sparkling. Otherwise amazing experience, will return!

So I'm making a part 2, tonight we rocked up and were seated. I noticed the server was a bit short and not really interested in the conversation. Hey, sometimes you could just be having a bad day or whatever but both my girlfriend and I are in the industry and were interested in a chat about the wines they had, so we were a little let down on that part. Otherwise, again, beautiful wines that hot the spot:)

It was amazing, the man at bar explained everything about cheese and menu and we literally asked a hell lot of questions about cheese

Oh boy we had a big night here at Milk the Cow in Carlton! Awesome table at the back with a really cool vibe & decor.

The wait staff are incredibly knowledgeable, real experts of their field. We ordered the wine flight that came with the most beautiful cheeses. Our friend also ordered the beer flight which had a delicious sour beer in particular. We also ordered food as well, and the saganaki and Brie bake were the highlights.

We may have also ordered another bottle of the Pinot noir that came with the flight and that definitely set us up well for a Saturday night

Overall, really cool spot and very cool concept, highly recommend for any wine and cheese lovers!

What a gem!
We had a wonderful evening here, enjoying a supper of a small wine flight paired with four different cheeses. The staff were all very warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. The produce was of exceptional quality, fresh, delicious and well presented. We will definitely be back.
The only word of caution would be for people of limited mobility, the toilets were a bit of a trek to get to upstairs.

Great experience and service but I think 15% surcharge on weekends is absolutely abhorrent. For this reason alone I will never return. The 6 people I was with felt the same. Note to owner: Greediness will not help your business in the long run.

If you’re looking for a place to catch up or network with two or more, this is also a great place. Because, of course, wine and cheese are better when shared among good company.

Great little cheese and wine bar with reasonably priced matched flights and great service. Will definitely come back again!

A great place with amazing wine and cheese collection and live jazz music on Friday night was really an experience i wont forget.the staff are amazing and very friendly in assisting you what to order and explaining why the cheese were matched with a particular wine. Need to visit again for the vibe. Highly recommend!

Great wine great cheese and some of the best service I've ever had - perfect spot of date night! (and very fairly priced too!)

Had an absolutely lovely time and experience here last night on the 6/10/19. I have forgotten our waitresses name but she made our evening! All four of us had flights, wine, sparlking and whiskey. She had full knowledge and explained the matchings in such detail. Love the atmosphere, loved our waitress. Warm and welcoming. Was a beautiful experience to celebrate my partner and I engagement. Thank you.

This place almost gets it right. Good wine list great ambiance and great cheese selection. The problem is terrible service. Was told 60 min wait by the incredibly rude woman taking names at the door in Carlton. Decided to wait. Ended up being over 2 hours and had to go and negotiate they find us a table. Then after being seated and reviewing the wine list and choosing a bottle I was told the bottle was no longer available. I suggested they remove it from the list and was told it’s a supplier issue and they can’t as it’s too variable. After then ordering a different bottle the one opened and poured was a different vintage to that shown on the list. Seriously? This is a wine and cheese venue have some pride in your list and selection. To the staff: you work at a great venue! If you’re not happy to be there leave! I would almost recommend this place if it wasn’t for the staff. Melbourne has lots of choice and you can probably find a better venue to have an aperitif.

Went there for a farewell with my colleague and had the most amazing experience. Shout out to Cecile, who really went above and beyond the whole time we were there with her in-depth knowledge of the wine/cheese selection and her cheerful banter! She walked us through the entire menu and made excellent personalised recommendations. Will definitely be coming back in the future!

Always a great experience. Knowledgeable staff who are friendly and fun. Enormous range of cheese, and I always leave feeling full of cheese and wine! Great for celebrating special events or a night out! Looking forward to going back soon

Nice little place in Carlton that serves fun wine and cheese pairings alongside other little bites. The wines and cheese are hit or miss depending on your particularly preference, but you can replace the wines with beers or ciders. Relatively cheap for 4 wines and 4 cheeses for $25.
