Had dinner at MESOB tonight, and it was divine! The staff were so lovely, and explained all the food and how to traditionally eat Ethiopian food. There really is something special about eating with your hands! The red lentils were my favourite, the perfect amount of spice! Tender meat, all so full of flavour. Such delicious food that doesn’t leave you feeling bloated and terrible, incredible value, I will definitely be back!

This was my first experience at the Ethiopian restaurant and I can't wait to go back again! The whole dining experience was amazing. The food was so flavourful and I loved how they originally served it.

Vego options are amazing, portions are generous, plenty of injera and smiles from the staff.
I love coming to get takeaways from MESOB! Plus they support community radio and they use compostable packaging. BIG UPS Mesob.

Stumbled upon this restaurant whilst spontaneously trying to find a place to dine. The enchanting ambience of the restaurant was hard to miss.
It was my first time trying Ethiopian food and was excited to experiment.

I tried the Gomen Tibs, which was a flavoursome mixture of lamb and fresh produce, served with Ethiopian flat bread. The taste was reminiscent of Middle Eastern food. The restaurant attempts to stay true to roots by encouraging eating with hands, with the option of using cutlery as well.

I enjoyed this experience and would definitely recommend.

Amazing Ethiopian food. The bread in particular is amazing and popular for a reason - it partners so well with everything on the menu! Super generous, huge portions.

My only (selfish) complaint - I just wish they were also open at lunch!

Yummy! Honey wine, you damn fine. Fave dishes: duba wot, gomen, and the chicken tibs (?)

I make sure to return every time I’m in town!

Lovely spongy and lightly tart injera and sweet easy drinking tej were the highlights. However I was disappointed with the Doro wat. It was not the rich, fiery red, spicy, slow cooked stew bursting with berbere flavour that I was expecting and wanting. Instead it was a mild, almost bland dish closer to a curry with its thin, watery gravy. With the price of the dish, I had high hopes that it would be done right.

Had dinner on a Saturday evening. Had a booking for 7: 30, took 15 mins to get a table which is sort of ok as we reached a bit late at 7: 40. Food took 40 mins to appear once ordered and there was cardboard pieces (2 to be exact) about 20 cm X 20 cm sized in the salad.which was confusing - the waiter reluctantly agreed that it was a mistake and apologised. The platter was an overpriced and ordinary. Not going back.

Edit:
got zeros typo. 2X2 cm 2 cardboard pieces in the Zilzi (starter salad like) as I mentioned earlier NOT in platter. Notified the girl (did not ask her name- quite tall) who was waiting on us. She did apologise. Mistakes are bound to happen when orders are piling up. Also could NOT finish the platter as food quantity was too much- nothing to do with quality of the food.
I have no incentive to lie. Also any bit of cardboard if I did injest would it have done any harm.will come try dishes (other than the platter) and coffee some weekend - happy to discuss this face to face.

Had a lovely date night at Mesob. Have been wanting to come for ages and so happy that I finally made it - worth it!
Great atmosphere and not too loud even with the place full. Whilst the booking noted we had a time limit we didn't feel rushed.
Thoroughly enjoyed the omivore combination platter for two. Washed it down with some super tasty Ethiopian lager which were refreshing and malty.
Can't wait to come back again! Yum.

Incredible food, incredible service!
Got take away for 4 people. Vego & non vego. Got enough food to feed 8 people.
So delicious, each dish distinctive & thought out.
A great experience all round.
Go support!

I'd never had Ethiopian before and this was AMAZING! I love the crazy pancake-like bread, the yummy blobs of food you can dip it into and eating with hands makes you feel more connected to the food. Great experience and I will bring everyone here

Thought the food was good but average compare to other Ethiopian restaurants in Melbourne, though it was very busy on a Saturday night, be sure to make a booking. The service was a bit off too.

Mesob was a great experience and the food was amazing. I shared a herbivore platter for two and that was reasonably priced for the amount of food. The Ethiopian beer was great, the staff seemed a little rushed and disinterested however. Still an absolute recommendation.

Wow. We did 2x Herbivore plus 2x Omnivore, and have more than enough to eat, for a family of 5. In fact, tomorrow night's dinner is already sorted. Food is fresh, spicy, and refreshingly different from the mainstream. I recommend this highly. If you are looking for something different, but not strange or try-hard, then this is an excellent choice.
