Menya Ramen reviews
74 Tasty, convenient location, fast service, good service, five stars.
If you hungry you can finish your bowl happily
I mean it’s ok I guess. Food was kinda mediocre at best, but I liked the Agedashi tofu! Service was nice and fast and the place was very clean:)
One of my most favourite restaurant in Melbourne city.good food, good service.reasonable price.clean.
I had lunch on a Tuesday approximately 13: 30 in the afternoon. The restaurant appeared clean and spacious with attentive waiters. I chose the Oyakodon which was a daily special and the food came our in less than 5 minutes. Portion was huge but the taste lacking. If you are looking for an express lunch, this may be the place for you.
So disappointed! Don't come here. The katsu don served is very awful. The rice is like uncooked and hard to chew.
The best ox tongue don ever! Travelled from Sydney just for this delicious don! Really recommended
The soup tastes fishy and Japanese jiaozi is not authentic. Potatoes are bigger than mouths.it a bad attempt.
Unprofessional staffs. I think this staff is a new staff, usually i ordered from senior staff and they dont make any mistakes. Ordered curry katsu and this new staff gave me katsu alone instead. Asked to change and the staff said she heard katsu don and double confirmed already with me but what i told at the very beginning is curry katsu don. She needs to be trained on her customer service skills if she is to work in the hospitality industry, elsewise she don't suite to serve customer, there were no apologies as well.
Good portion size - very generous and cheap too. BUT the curry I had was nowhere near what a Japanese curry should be. It was watery and bland. The chicken was slightly undercooked too as most of the pieces were pink.
Speaking from experience, I believe ZCurry just down the same street does a better and more authentic Japanese curry for around the same price range
Great, cheap food here.mainly student crowd you'll see here.cheap, good food that will keep you full and your wallet happy!
Eat the special!
Had the pork katsu curry for less than $10, it was amazing, huge portion size highly reccomend value for money
Due to lockdown they only do take away but looks like a really nice place to sit and eat once restrictions ease
Staff friendly and knowledgeable, very covid safe, in the nicest way every staff member I walked into checked I had checked in
Got a Sapporo ramen and a Katsudon delivered. Below average if I'm honest. Clearly not a Sapporo ramen you expect from a 'Japanese' restaurant.
02/07/2021 - The staff who took order is rude to us, and it was not acceptable, she was aggressive to us because we blamed the sashimi was so different from the photo in menu (they served the take away box instead of plate like in the menu and just only had salmon while there were 3 type of fish in the menu). We never ever come back because of her, we also ordered niku undon, the soup was so smelly.
So I've been coming here for years and my favourite dish is the Gyu Tan Don (Ox tongue) spicy, there is an option for non spicy but that's just my preference. The meat is marinated with delicious flavours, I can't rave enough about it. Definitely check this place out, it's got great food, even the katsu is nice. Lots of seating, good service, and most of all affordable prices.
A Japanese restaurant with an extensive menu, quick service, serving good food, all at a pocket friendly price.
Menya had special dishes with special prices throughout the week. We went on a Thursday and ordered the following, and the bill was less than $50:
- Takoyaki
- Agedashi tofu
- Katsu Don
- Unagi Don
- Tofu Pudding
- Black Sesame Sweet
I appreciate that Menya put a slice of lemon, a sprig of parsley and a slice of strawberry in their carafe of water.
I also like that the unagi is served with egg omelet - perfect with the white rice.
Unexpected beautiful and comfort place for enjoy meal,
staff is serving with beautiful friendly smile
70points for the food,
not too bad just normal
music is a bit too loud,
love the feeling dine in here.will come again, hope will surprise me
Overall a pretty decent and enjoyable meal. Would recommend if you are in the area and looking to eat ramen or don. I had one of the pork ramens and thought it was quite flavourful. The ramen broth was hot and accompanied the pork pieces. The serving itself was pretty good and expected, although I have had bigger at this price point. The restaurant ambience is pretty good and the waiters are friendly. Pricing is quite reasonable at the median price being approximately $12.50 for a bowl of ramen.
Been enjoying the daily special for months now and appreciate the excellent value, freshness and taste. The fewer items I have tried including the Gyoza are also very good. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere too.
They serve food that has gone off.
Poor service. Servers were rude
I ordered a veggie ramen. All was fine until I ate more of the corn and the dried out corn appeared from underneath. It was skinny and tasted like it had gone off. I asked for a refund and was treated rudely.
Tried the gyutandon, actually it’s not that wow like people talking about, but it’s okay and very big portion
