Menya Ramen reviews
60Fast service Japanase restaurant. If you want big portion at a great value, this is a place to come.
I remember eating gyutandon from Menya years ago. Went back yesterday and it was nowhere as good as I remember it, which makes me a bit sad because it has always been a must visit every time I'm in Melbourne.
This restaurant is famous for its signature dish: Gyu Tan Don (ox tongue). It is extremely delicious, has been my comfort food since I first set foot in Melbourne. In early 2014, the price of Gyutan don was only 12.50 AUD. The price has since increased every year. Since early 2018, the Gyutandon is 17.50 AUD per portion. Other dishes on the menu are okay but none are as good as Gyutandon.
You only go here to have that one dish - the gyu tan don. Whilst it is now priced way higher than the other dishes, the quality and taste is still the same. Gets 4 stars for taking advantage of the situation.
Worst servise ever The girl didnt ask me whether i was having here or take away and when i received the dish, it was take away. And take just gave me the takeaway box and say you can not eat here. Well there was still empty tables.
This place has been here for ages the gyoza are great.some of the other dishes are ok good value good portion sizes recommended it
I ordered Katsu Don. The quantity of rice in the bowl was quite generous but the sauce was insufficient in my opinion. The chicken cutlet was also ok. Since the quantity of sauce was not sufficient, I was unable to finish the rice. This place is good for students.
Been so many times to this tiny little place. One of our first early dates was here. So will always love it. The chicken teriyaki is always consistent but the ox tongue was not as good this time.
Food is pretty average but the staff are pretty bad, it was as if they had no people skills and they're always in a rush to get you out
I don't know why their stuffs always seems sooo unhappy! Especially the Melbourne central food court one. It feel like I owe them 1 million dollar debts every time when I order food their. The most ironic part is that they give me unhappy face, but the next second they talk to each other (chatting among staffs) with happy faces.: (
Service is good. QC needs to be improved. Rice was too hard and dry on my first visit. But was much better on my second visit
Staff are consistently unfriendly (not impolite, just not very friendly) The food has been consistently good. The only REAL gripe I have with this restaurant (the chain, not the place) is the loyalty cards have not increased along with the general price increases. So, when you get your 'free meal' you still have to pay a dollar something, compared to once upon a time, it would cover the meal completely.
To sum up, the food AT THIS SPECIFIC PLACE is good, the service could be a bit friendlier.
Over-cooked ramen, crab willow and veges. A little bit disappointed. Friendly staff. Katsu Pork Udon pictured.
Food is really good but very rude staff.
Come twice to this place and still get rude service for the second time from different staff.
Just a personal preference, I dont like my food with any smell of herbs or anything especially my RAMEN!
Poor service! We request seat inside table but the waiters not allowed and said to us 'Maybe have 4 peoples to seat on that table'! But after 1min she give one couple seat over there!? What a poor service? I spend money for poor service!
Noodles are good value for the price. But I found a shard of plastic in my soup. Chew slowly if you visit here.
Always go there to get a take-away before I reach to the train station. Fast, convenience location, great value for money.
Food is OK but staff are INcredibly rude. Not impressed and shall not return. Will choose one of the other 4,000+ Japanese places in Melbourne next time.
