Menya Ramen reviews
60I ordered unagi don for takeaway, but the waiter gave me very little sauce, unlike the day before I ordered it. So I asked the waiter. Could I have more sauce? Coz the sauce was supposed to get was the normal amount but this time is less sauce.but the staff said I had to pay more 1 aud for the sauce! The sauce that comes with unagi don should be in the right amount with portion of food!
Amazing place. Thank you for the consistency in your quality since 2010. I still order the same dish # 8
Beautiful delicious and fresh. If I lived in the CBD you’d be my adoptive mother.
Been craving their gyutan don for so long and craving satisfied! We ordered the oyako don also since it was that day specials. The Gyutan don still as good as I remembered, but the Oyako don taste not so 'Japanese food', maybe because of the shitake mushroom was one of the ingredients. The service was good and the staff was friendly.
Missed out my order almost 20 mins but don’t even say sorry, the portion looks so big but it just has a lot of rice. Don’t recommend
Visited a Menya Ramen restaurant on a friend's suggestion. It was just okay - the ramen didn't wow us, though the portion sizes were generous. Compared to other ramen places, prices were reasonable. The venue was quite small, which added to the average experience. Perhaps it was just not to our family's taste, but we're open to trying other Menya Ramen locations in the future.
Huge portion food. Can share for two people. Delicious but a bit cramped because it's not too big on the space.
Came here for lunch, the portion was quite generous but its tasted just ok and does not taste like Japanese food. Customer service was quick and friendly. The ambiance was so small.

An oldie but a goodie! Iconic cheap eats all uni students know about.
Unagi, which btw was gigantic, was super creamy and flavourful, and egg was perfectly cooked. Not to mention, this mountain of rice packed underneath. Like wow the return for money is off the chart Quickest way to get full if you are on a student budget. Curry Beef Don and Tempura Udon was not bad at all. Curry and udon broth tasted a tad bland but decent overall. Personally liked Unagi Don the most!
Seems like Gyu Tan Don is what everyone else gets here - keen to try that next time!

Unagi Don ($14), Curry Beef Don ($11), Tempura Udon ($13)
11: 00am - 9: 30pm everyday
Picture 1 The portion of beef tongue rice is pitifully small. I couldn’t finish a bowl before, but now I feel a little hungry after eating it
Quite generous portion for the price paid. Too small and limited seatings. At times, can be tight inside when busy.
We usually go for the gyudon which is still very tasty but like many other things, the price has gone up significantly!
Ordered a portion of Gyu Tan Don and extra meat. The regular portion comes at $22 and $8 for extra meat. So after paying $30, the bowl that comes to the table had so little meat that i had to go up to the counter and confirmed if this had the extra $8 meat that i paid for. The staff brazenly said yes and went along her way.
Very ridiculous rip off compared to the other branch, this place has always been known to be stingy with its portion size but to think that they would openly do this to a $30 order is just ridiculous. Will never eat here again.
For a cheap price, you can get very full. This restaurant give you the best offers for your amount of money. The food also taste very authentic and delicious. Remember to wait for it to cool down a bit since they serve it fresh out of the pan.
Huge portions. Great flavour. My fave is the teriyaki beef. WOW! Just best to get it takeaway. If you want to sit and eat their stuff don't come in a bit group or go to their Elizabeth St store. But I'd suggest you don't sit and eat as it's tiny and the heat/cold doesn't help.
My one pick: Spicy Gyutan Don, and it has to be from this store.
But the price has risen over the years (inflation no joke).
Located in Melbourne Central, Swanston street entrance.
Order at counter or scan QR code at the table. Small place, quick service and friendly staff. I ordered Menya ramen with seafood and slice pork, taste was good. This shop offer daily special menu from $10.90.
Food: 4/5
The food is simple and affordable. Really convenient for students like myself. I usually get the Yasai Ramen (vegetarian). Not authentic Japanese, but it is to be expected for the price you’re paying. I’m giving 4/5 solely for this. The lady serving greeted warmly.
Ordered chicken katsu and the lady who served me gave a HUGE sigh. Very impolite! The food is pretty poor as well, the chicken to rice ratio is ridiculous. Literally all of it was just rice! I'd definitely go to the Elizabeth street one, much bigger and customer service is much better!
Food is very average- had the tonkatsu ramen and the seafood udon.portion and their price is on the cheap end however service is.maybe fake a smile at least? Why work at a place u have no passion in or tap your pen on the table while customers choose what they want?
food 3.5/5 service 2.5/5 location 4/5
Great Japanese food. They separated the chicken katsu and the udon, so it’s great! Definely recommended. The sashimi is bought from other shop.
