I have been learning BJJ here for a little over a year and can’t recommend this place enough, Ivan and Jenny are super welcoming to anyone who wants to start BJJ, Ivan is not just a teacher but a friend who has helped me be a better martial artist, whether its wanting to learn the art or being physically fit Melbourne jiu jitsu academy has everything you need.

During my stay in Melbourne I found this great gym where I was very well received by everyone, whenever I'm here I'll come back, thanks for everything!

Went visit the gym with a mate and wanted to do a casual roll. Head instructor was rude and not helpful, I felt disrespected.

Stumbled upon this gym by chance and had a chat with Ivan who runs the place about training. He was very welcoming and we ended up watching few classes before signing up.

During classes, not only they teach you about Jiu Jitsu, but also on life lessons which are great for character building.

Ivan and Youssef (assistant coach) has great dynamics between them as a coach and I could not be happier to have found this place!

A hidden gem, this Brazilian Jiujitsu academy is fun, friendly with a great vibe. Ivan runs a great selection of classes throughout the week catering for beginners to advanced levels.

Pop in, say hi and grab a class or two. Will be back for sure.

One of the best gyms I had the opportunity to train, attentive and qualified teachers, I recommend it for beginners and advanced.

Ivan is a very friendly and professional coach, he built a very inclusive gym culture which made asking questions and speaking our minds super easy.

I am a light weight person sitting just over 60kgs, Ivan has been teaching me how to adapt the techniques to heavier people, while building physical and mental resilience. Training at this gym really helped with building my self confidence. His passion for the sport can be seen through his teaching, and I only wish that I joined earlier.

Brought my 12y daughter down to train with Professor Ivan for a change from our normal BJJ gym to get some practice rolls in before her next comp. Ivan took my daughter under his arm and treated her as one of his own students, going out of his way to make her feel welcome.
He even invited her back to do a private session the following day, not for money but for his passion to teach BJJ. My daughter isn’t one to change routine but she truly loved her time at Melbourne BJJ.
If your looking to get into BJJ I highly recommend giving this gym a go.

Going to this gym has greatly improved my life in too many ways to list both physically and mentally. Additionally, this gym is kept in very good condition in terms of hygiene.

Great place for kids. Our daughter has been training here for a couple of years and enjoys every session. Great for fitness, confidence and learning life skills. And unlike other centres, classes continue through school holidays, which is a huge plus for us.

Ivan is extremely passionate about teaching jiu-jitsu skills to the kids, as well as relating some aspects to everyday life. He engages with the kids well and they all help each other. It's a really effective environment for learning
