Melbourne Guitar Academy reviews
74I have attended the Melbourne Guitar Academy for the past 3 months, and I am very happy that I did decide to sign up for lessons with them. Michael Gumley who takes the class that I am in is an excellent guitarist and teacher and makes the lessons very interesting and enjoyable. I have no hesitation in recomending the Melbourne Guitar Academy for anyone wanting to learn to play guitar or improve your existing skills regardless at which stage in your guitar playing journey you happen to be in.
Learning how to understand the fretboard, theory and learning songs that I like has been terrific
Just starting out and really enjoying it. Teachers are very good and very patient. Have tried other guitar teachers who almost made me give up guitar. Highly recommended
I’ve learnt a lot from Ande, Jake and Michael in a relatively short amount of time vs self learning (which wasn’t getting me anywhere fast). All brilliant teachers with different styles of teaching though always fun and educational.
Mentioned to Michael that I have been having issues with my wrist and arm on my fretting side
he sent me a link for an article and video he had made
this had helped me alot
guy knows his stuff and yeah well worth recomending
Love the supportive environment this Academy provides. Jake is a great teacher and really is tuned in to his students.
Highly recommended, teachers are fantastic, I am 54 and recently went back to playing guitar after many years and now enjoy learning and playing with lots of people of a similar era.
My 10yo son has been attending Melbourne Guitar Academy for 6 months now, and it has honestly been the best thing I’ve done for him! He is thriving and I know I owe it all to Michael and the Team! The style of teaching is modern, fun, interactive and relatable for him! We couldn’t be happier and know we found THE BEST!
My son has been going to MGA for just over 2 years now, their guitar Ninja curriculum allows both kids and adults to learn at a pace that suits an individuals needs with fun and learning being an equal outcome of classes.
When they pass each belt level the reward is a new guitar strap in the colour level completed. The books cover the fundamentals of guitar playing at each stage to not overwhelm and confuse with classes being part book work and learning new songs to showcase a couple of times a year in the student concert or showoff to his friends and family.
I've seen my son go from a complete novice to ripping songs from bands like Rage against the machine, Nirvana, Metallica, Arctic Monkeys etc in the short time he's been there.
All of the teachers bring a fun and inclusive learning environment, they're engaging but most importantly very passionate about what they do.
We all like our kids to do well at school but to have a skill that differentiates himself from his mates builds his self confidence and motivation to do well at guitar.
If you are looking to get into guitar as an Adult or for your child then i can highly recommend MGA.
Great teachers and very professional, so glad my son is learning guitar with melbourne guitar academy.
Micheal has created a well designed program for all levels of guitar students. With his focus on teaching us the 7 key areas of guitar playing the weekly group lessons will get you playing your favorite songs in very little time. You will get workbooks with lessons on music theory, chords and scales to work toward improving your level of playing. In a few short months I have expanded my skills that have improved my playing.
The teachers are very good and I would recommend this business. The lesson timetable is flexible for those on shift work which is amazing, however the administration of the school is quite unorganized, often stuff is missed, orientation and initial placement is poor, learning books aren't available, be aware these are group lessons and 30 days notice (payment) is required to stop lessons.
My son has been doing guitar lessons with Michael for about 2 months now. He is loving every lesson and is learning heaps. Michael is very patient and kind. I would highly recommend joining the MGA!
Michael is a highly talented and dedicated coach. He is able to understand you and structure customized learning based on your skillset. Absolutely enjoy learning guitar at Melbourne guitar academy with Michael.
My son and I started taking lessons about a month ago and I’m very impressed at MGA and Michael.the lessons are super easy to learn, interactive and fun. We both enjoy our guitar lessons thoroughly and feel like we can actually play something and it’s only been a month!
Have been a student here for a number of years. They cater to all different ability levels from beginner to God in any genre you like. The teachers are all excellent and extremely passionate and will motivate you to continue picking up the guitar. Although I'm moving overseas I'm still continuing with lessons from them because they're that good
Great place to learn guitar. They do a good job of tailoring lessons to the skill level of all members of the group and ensuring there is enough to practice throughout the week. Thanks Jake and Michael!
My son started at the academy last year. He is greatly improving his guitar skills. He loves his teachers and the lessons. They have also been doing zoom classes during lockdown which have been so professionally run. Great teachers. Thanks Michael and team.
Michael from Melbourne Guitar Academy is a great teacher for beginners like myself. I have been attending his online group classes during lockdown and really enjoy his teaching style. He is encouraging and the classes seem well structured.
I have been going to Melbourne Guitar Academy for over two months. I highly recommend this place for guitar players of all levels.
