Melbourne City Backpackers reviews
58Used their BagBnb service which was great in terms of price (whole day fixed fee per bag) and time (the other locations open later). Very easy to book online. It was no fuss too (quick drop off and pick up) as well as secure (bags in a locked room, with claim slips). Friendly staff!
Called and asked to book a room, they said they were 'fully booked' and hung up on me immediately. Didn't even ask what date I wanted to book. I had to call back and specify that I was booking two weeks in advance before they would take my booking. Appalling phone manner.
We arrived to Melbourne and needed a place to sleep in. It was fast and very friendly workers. Would be great to have free internet without limits or with a higher limit per day.
Overall it's a very good place to pass by.
Good place to stay if you just arrived to the city. Good kitchen where to cook and fine and comfortable beds. Very nice staff and cheap!
Party hostel. Don’t go if you are looking for something quiet. Good specials days to
Meet other travelers. Kitchen very very small. Rooms were ok, but dark but ok! Showers average.
I have stayed here 12 days. Nothing to complain, friendly staff and located at great location. Free breakfast and WiFi, open 24/7 with front desk help, different evening/ night program through out the week. If you are a backpacker a must stay place in Melbourne.
It, s a very nice place to stay, the free breakfast, free pancakes on Sunday are awesome! The entire hostel has had one heck of a facelift with major colourful, eye opening paintwork attraction on all levels, and the furniture along with support benches and adjustable chairs are excellent too. And the floors look like they have been re-furbished too. And a lot more power points are installed in all places wherever u sit in the common room, that u can keep your phone, laptop, etc recharged. And In the rooms they have new window curtains, a lot easier to open and close to keep outside lighting down to dark for bedtime. Airconditioning is great too. Only thing is that there is not many power points in the rooms, especially by bedside to plug in phone charger, etc, without going either to one end of the room for one. Depends on which vacant bed u get when u check in. Otherwise it, s great to see some very major touch-up improvements done thru the entire hostel.
They catereted for a professional event I attended, we had a tour the staff and location were both very nice
Friendly staff. Neat and clean place. Easy check in and out. Roommates from all over the world. Breakfast and wifi available. Enjoyed my stay.
Just a basic backpack hotel. Good for student and for flexible people. Paid Wi-Fi, (few) shared toilets and showers, no food available (you can use common kitchen and shared areas and drives). Paid lockers for items and luggage. No guests. Good position in city centre.
Very good hostel, excelent location, very close to restaurants and bars. The rooms are very good and the beds in very good condition. Service is great, and the included breakfast actually saves lifes I would recommend for sure
No lift. No lock on bathroom door.
We have booked 4 people on internet, when we arrived, they separate us to other room, I don’t understand why.
Very friendly staff and people
I will make sure we come here again in the future very reasonable price very clean and fresh linen and towels and the room are very nice and comfortable I really recommend people to come and stay here
Place wasn't clean, free Wifi lasted for three minutes for me everyday, and I missed sockets to charge my phone. Also, people were hanging around at the front door and drinking in the public space downstairs every night, making it really noisy.
The staff was friendly though and it's a great location.
Nice hostel in the CBD. Very close to Southern cross station and SkyBus coach terminal. Highly recommended. Dorms are spacious. Breakfast is free. Value for money.
Awesome spot for travellers in Melbourne. Daily events and close to the main drag without being right in the mix. Highly recommend.
The hostel is on a busy street next to a pedestrian crossing, a strip club, and another hostel. Many people from both hostels gather outside the front door to smoke. This makes the rooms very noisy at almost all hours. The blinds are nearly transparent, letting in light. The free breakfast is toast and jam, an absolute scam. Not even the decency to give cereals. The bathrooms, halls and bins are cleaned once a day. The bathroom drainage is terrible, with shower water flowing over nearly the whole floor. Do not expect any tourist information from staff.
