Super friendly customer service. Rooms could be untidy.but what do you expect from young back Packers lol. I was doing a massive road trip and it was really worth staying there for a day if you want to get to know the city of Melbourne. If lucky park outside and use the app for it. Isn't as expensive as you would expect

A fine hostel. The staff is very kind and friendly. They were also very helpful. The rooms itself are fine, your average hostel bunkbeds. Shower facilities were not really up to standard. It was ok, but not very pleasant upon first sight. The social sphere was very nice though. Always people hanging around, however this sometimes meant the noise level at night was quite excessive. Location is excellent, lots of things nearby in terms of shops, stores and restaurants. Public transport (tram and train) also within close walking distance.

My home in Melbourne! If you are new in the city, this is the place to be. Free breakfast, good environment and good to socialize, close to one of the main train stations, really convenient location, extremely helpful and friendly staff. Do not hesitate, you won't regret it!

The MCB was the hostel in Australia where I felt the most welcomed. Especially the staff with the receptionist Hannah was always friendly und helpful. The Hostel is perfect when you want the meet nice people from all over the world.

Great location, really nice and helpful staff, self late check in, towels were provided in a private room, free good breakfast (toasts, peanut butter, jam, butter and coffee&tea), big kitchen.
The only thing which wasn’t good was the temperature of the room. It was freezing: (we stayed during the winter.
Overall, the value was really good for this price, during warmer months it’s probably perfect for backpackers!

For the price I've paid, it was an amazing experience.
Good free breakfast and coffee.
The best part of the hostel is definitely the staff, they are very considerate and respectful.
The installation is not amazing, but again, good for the price and the location.

The location is nice the stuff is great and the facilities are ok but the morning I checked out I returned the pillow case as they ask you to and I found out the pillow was filled with mold and today I really don't feel that good and I think it's because of that if you decide to come make sure to check the mattress and the pillow before you go to sleep

I stayed one night in one of the private rooms, the didnt vaccum the floor, it was actually very dirty.
The room was very cold and very noisy, couldnt sleep much, the next days I changed to a dorm, 6 beds Female dorm. I stay there for 5 nights.
Beds are very uncomfortable and the ceiling light didnt work.

Now the toilets, first day was ok but then was very dirty, hair in a lot of places.

The breakfast is pretty basic just butter and jam, cheap brands and cheap bread, not really worthy.

Staff was ok, not the best welcoming people.

So, dont stay here, they dont even refund if you want to cancel your stay because is pretty bad hostel.

I advice you to book in a hostel with better reviews.

His a crook. Whatever that guy name is in reception. He won't help. He will find a way to creep into your wallet. Please book inadvace online it's cheaper. And make sure it's cancel free. Dont Rock up n book. He will sell you something 3times the cost or more. Even if rooms available he will tell you it's the only room left. So don't listen to him. Do yo research online for availability n save money

I spent two nights in this lovely hostel and had an outstanding experience; it's a shame I couldn't stay longer. The hostel staff are outgoing and friendly. The kitchen, bathrooms and rooms are relatively clean and tidy. Prices per night are the best you'll find in Melbourne CBD. Special thanks to Erica, Cici, Max, Emilia and the young Swiss guy that works in reception. You've made my short stay pleasurable and pleasant.
Make sure you wake up before 11 AM for the FREE breakfast. After a night of hard partying or intense chess games, it might be a more challenging task than it seems.

I lived in 16 beds dormitory. It just has two toilets on ground floor near the hall and two toilets for males on 2nd floor living area. Not convenient if there were many people living in.
Another problem is the height of pillow is too short that cause strain of your neck.
I only recommend for few day stay as it has a good location near southern Cross station only.

Great, friendly customer service. Phoned up because I was going to miss check in and the guy checked me in on the phone, and sent me an email with all the details I needed to get in. Breakfast basic but free!

I thought this place was a great place for living and socialising. No it’s not.
It’s just a tiny backpacker not even situated in the heart of Melbourne as advertised so you’ll have to walk over 10min to get to where the exciting things are in Melbourne. On a positive note is that this place is not as noisy as it would be living on the heart of melb but there’s a bar next door and some drunker can be pretty mad.
The negative side of this place is:
Common living area are such tiny, it has been designed to fit efficiently most of the living and activity in the same small area so once the place is crowded and with COVID rules this could be an issue.
The place doesn’t feel welcoming, no social life, everyone is doing its own business. The activity board has nothing related to the place. Most activity proposed are outdoor one which you can do in any backpacker.
The tv has no remote control so the guys at the counter have total control of it also controls the movies.
The kitchen is tiny, has no hand sanitiser, it has nowhere to seat. Only 1 microwave, 1 bench so I let you imagine when this place is busy.
The only fun you have do in the living room is, playing tennis table which is just made out of 2 table put together.playing card games and all boring stuff and seat looking at each other.
The room was okay, not smelly, can’t fault the cleanliness of the bathroom from the fresh smell of the bleach the first night but second night different shift and that dude cleaned nothing. I would have expected a few more PowerPoint as there’s a very limited amount per room. Beds was comfy with fresh linen.
The door opening system is really high tech class using Bluetooth and your phone but they should’ve spend the money on renovating the bathroom which was clean but too small for soooo many people living on the same stair.
Breakfast: you have to wait for the dude to come and open up the place kitchen and set it up meaning, it doesn’t really start at 9am.poor breakky. Sadly for people who want to enjoy the Aussie experience there wasn’t even any vegemite. There was 1 full loaf of bread a 1 already opened sitting on the bench and just a normal plater with a big pot of jam and peanut butter and a tiny pot of butter.there’s was 2 types of cereals and milk too but nothing exciting.
I imagine like someone has thrown a breakfast platter to cats and left the place.
So waiting for the breakfast setup I wasn’t impressed, the young pohm fellow running the counter turned up like 5min before 9am opening the kitchen showing a slack attitude not willing to put a bit of energy at work or even saying good morning. That put me off.
Also what about people who are working early how do they deal with food if they have to wait for the kitchen to open by 9am.knowing you’re not allowed to bring food in your room.
My second night was awful yes it was noisy but that’s fine I’m used to. The only annoying thing was that Aussie camp commandant who always started dramas for nothing and was expecting to get a super silent room for a $18/n. That dude was so annoying to the point were my roommate lady walked away from the room at night. That guy had a go at me because I was watching videos the sounds not even loud then he started striping up in front of me fitting his pyjama no shame or whatsoever while the girl was sleeping right on his left hand side yuck. There’s a bathroom for a reason.
Anyway it seems like it’s more packed with homeless aussies or visa overstayers. I understand rent is high in melb but there’s plenty job around and find a share house is no big deal.
I was so disappointed that for my short trip into melb cbd I was about to walk away after the first night and book somewhere else and let them having the rent money but I didn’t because my roommate lady was there and made that place more enjoyable before those dramas started.
Also it’s not a 24h reception as mentioned.
The reception is opened from 9am to 11pm.
