Meatsmith - Specialty Butcher & Wine Merchant reviews
51Whilst the brisket has been great. The 12 hr pork was extremely dissapointing, I expect bone but the pork was non existent. Alot of money for no pork
I’ve gone twice recently and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable! We got the best pork cutlets from here. I highly recommend
Have been purchasing products from meatsmith for the last 6 months or so and getting everything delivered. Products have all been amazing in quality and flavor. A massive thank you to Isobel and the team for sorting out a recent issue regards to an order and for going above and beyond to keep their customers happy. Cheers!
Ordered some condiments off Meatsmith, they arrived on the 2nd of August, the use by date on the dressing was the 3rd of August. The relish had a use by date of the 12th of August. All the other items were use by in October. Only having a day to consume a jar of dressing and under two weeks for the relish is poor form. The use by dates of October for the other products is also too short. I ordered two jars of pickled fennel which they only packed one, they did refund me for this but lucky they did only pack one cause I would have been struggling to get through two jars within the use by dates.the products were nice, just very disssapointing the use by dates were not checked before the items were dispatched. Becareful when ordering their items online. I did mention the short use by dates with them but nothing was really done about it. Overall a disappointing transaction.
Not only is Meatsmith’s produce excellent quality.their customer service is extraordinary! Last week Mark went above and beyond to correct some misinformation given by another staff member.thanks Mark for personally correcting this error. Anyone can make a mistake but there is a right and a wrong way for this to be addressed. You certainly made me feel valued!
NOT DOING NEXT DAY DELIVERY. THEY ARE ADVERTISING NEXT DAY DELIVERY BUT IT'S NOT REALLY TRUE. The website booking form blocks delivery dates for up to a week. Rang, and after being on hold for sometime, eventually got told there is "probably" no delivery spots left for a week? I say "probably" because the person I spoke to didn't really seem sure about anything, and rather than try to find out the workings of their own setup, wanted me as the customer to be the one to ring around their drivers and despatch depot if I wanted my question answered? It's probably not an uncommon question they are being asked atm, so not knowing the answer to such a fundamental thing seems a touch lazy. If they are that busy, perhaps they should consider putting on more drivers, butchers and workers. There are plenty of hospitality folks who could do with a job, if they are fortunate enough to be one of the ones who has been able to keep their business going that strong. At the least, they could stop advertising next day delivery, so customers can make their plans with confidence. I also learnt that they are part of Cumulus group, which somehow doesn't surprise me. I have had similarly themed experiences with their restaurants. The concept and food it good but let down by the staff and their attitudes. It's as if their success has made them too comfortable; as if the customers will come so they don't need to try very hard; which is a shame because no one should take Melbourne's dining scene foregranted given the talent here. I have been lucky to have had some great dining around the world. The thing that elevates it to an experience is often good staff who are engaged, polished, knowledgable and just care no matter what their job. You can really tell when a restaurant has spent time training their people, reviewing their abilities, and have an awareness of how they present themselves. They make the patron feel looked after rather than treat you as something to just be tolerated after you were supposedly lucky enough to have made it thorugh their door. As it is, I got delivery from a local butcher who gave me some great tips about using my Kamado to cook it. It looks superb! I also ended up getting a few extra things to try that are their specialty, and they gave me a 10% discount after I explained why my order was so last minute. I will be going back to them, even post lockdown, and it made me think WE REALLY SHOULD BE SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSES instead of these big, showy operations who have no capacity for individual customers service.
The best butcher I have ever been to. My dad was a butcher for 30 years and have have been dragged into thousands in my life!
Their website is deceptive. Why list prices for meat unmarked as per half a kilo instead of full kilo which is hidden and only revealed if you add to cart. I’m not price sensitive but just want to know what I’m paying for. Everything in store is per kilo so this makes it confusing.
Love the layout of the store and the huge range. I come here every week for our meat shop, and to try the different house made condiments. Yes, it’s a little more pricey than going to the supermarket, but you pay for the quality and the meat is always superb.
Not sure why people line up here.they sell half the amount for twice the price and the meat isn’t that exceptional. They also don’t give receipts so you don’t know how much you’ve spent. Cheese is good though.
Great delivery, within 24 hours to the city. Everything was wrapped well and was generous.
Bit expensive to be honest, but seems high quality so if it is good i'll be back
Truly the best butcher in Melbourne. So many different cuts, prepared a number of different ways (if your into that sort of thing). Sausage game second to none
A pretty trendy butcher with premium and high grade produce. Has good service and explanations and sometimes hosts events.
It’s a bit like something in Paris etc.
This place is amazing. Fresh meats and salumi were beautiful- the only hard part is deciding what you want. Fresh eggs, olives, too many lovely food to mention. Definitely worth the stop!
Great service and the shop looks and smells delightful, plus it saved me a horror trip to Highpoint!
2nd year in a row ordering ham and turkey for Xmas. Great produce, and amazing service. Will use again and again.
I’ve come to meatsmith almost every Friday for probably a year now, and they always, always make the most incredible sandwich for the lunch special (sometimes you get a free beer!) It’s never the same thing, and it’s always delicious. Their service is incredible, and that’s not even talking about the meat they sell, which is amazing. They have so much stuff you could want, and such high quality, locally sourced. Love meat smith.
Always a great experience here. Niche products like panchetta and pates. Today they were so nice to my dog who was waiting outside and even threw in a couple of bones as a gift
Come in here every time I’m having friends round and the butcher Marco is the friendliest and most helpful:)
The house made mortadella was sour and slimy. Definitely off. E mailed the business and suggested they take a look at it.no response.
The ham was nice:)
