Manhattan In Mornington reviews
81 I’ve been coming here since the beginning of 2020. The food is always fresh and nicely prepared. The staff is helpful and acknowledable.
I particularly love the oysters, crispy ocean breeze melting on the tongue into a pile of creamy indulgence, heavenly.
Tom Keher Had lunch with my adult son had 4 courses and all were excellent food very fresh and yummy staff were excellent would highly recommend this restaurant to others +coffee was really good 16/12/23
Came here with my husband and a friend and we loved eating here. Drinks were perfect, the food was delicious and fresh. Staff were helpful with all our questions and my dietary requests - they cater for vegans so well. Rose the owner was lovely to chat to. We’ll definitely be back.
Dined at Manhattan in Mornington with my girlfriends and spent over 4 hours there… Best lasagna I’ve ever had at a restaurant, and the service was amazing! Such genuine, kind and attentive people! Thank you Rose and staff for such a lovely restaurant experience. Can’t wait to come here again!
Prices are on the high side for the portions received. All the food was tasty and fresh so that's the trade off.
We’re long time blow ins to mornington, but rarely strive off the main street, and usually head to a costal restaurant to enjoy the wonderful views. But today, we decided quite randomly to try somewhere new. And to our delight we were happily surprised. A lovely decor greets as you enter, along with a lovely waitress. We sat by the window, which didn’t have the same views, but it was winter and a cold wind was blowing so we were happy with our choice. My wife had Crispy Skin Pork Belly with Rocket Apple Salad and I had Fantasia Sauce (creamy mild curry) with fettuccine pasta. The food as you can see from the pictures was presented well and tasted just a nice. Curry and pasta are not two things you would normally find together on a menu so I thought, why not. And it worked. We will definitely be back, possibly when it is a little warmer so we can sit outside. All in all a great experience.
Met up with friends we'd not seen in decades. Of all the places we could have chosen we were all so glad to have met up, caught up and shared such delicious dishes together. We felt bad to have chatted till 4pm but the staff were so attentive and understand and we really appreciated effectively having the restaurant to ourselves to catch up again. Thanks again and cannot recommend this restaurant enough as a great place for food wine and atmosphere in Mornington.
The food was exceptionally good, from the garlic pizza to the ox cheek through to the Italian doughnuts.
A table of 10, we were able to talk without the typical restaurant hum.
The service from all three ladies was excellent.
Had a booking for my daughters birthday last Saturday. Needed to visit the toilet soon as we arrived. The bad smell turned us off eating at this restaurant. The girls were friendly, but we had to cancel because of the bad smell
I love this restaurant, fantastic food and great service. They use the best of ingredients, and it shows. Please keep up the great work.
Finally writing this Review.
I organised a Hens at Manhattan in Mornington after being at the Hot Springs all day, on 7th October, being that I was one of the Bridesmaids.
We decided for me to organise it, due to me being Coeliac and also being that I am Jewish, I don't eat Pig products or Seafood, so makes it much harder to eat out.
Entrees that were meant to be mains, with the other mains came out 1 hour earlier. This was requested by the others at the table.
Then, I was waiting on my Osso Bucco Gluten Free Pasta dish, and it was taking forever. Determined, it had gone to the Table over.
We had ordered before them.
They asked the Lady, (mid 20s or so) if she had ordered the Gluten Free Pasta, and just said yes.
Well, that was the last lot of GF Pasta they had!
And she wasn't even Coeliac! I could see the difference in the Pasta, and she thought it was the type of pasta she had ordered with it. She obviously doesn't know the difference in the Pastas.
Ended up having to have Risotto. Was so Angry.
They had inexperienced staff taking orders with no one supervising them. They mixed up and changed the Table Numbers around. Then they tried over charging me for some reason. Their Prices weren't up to date on their Mocktails list on the Table from memory. The list goes on.
There was one lady that was lovely and tried to help, but then left before I could say Thank you.
I had one of the Mocktail's which was lovely.
Was not very happy with how the night turned out.
It almost spoilt the Bride's Night.
Only posting now, as I realised I forgot to do it.
Edit:
In response to Rose's response:
- I am sorry if I came across as very rude and was bickering.
- I would rather have taken on the job of trying to find somewhere myself, that others were happy with, than them trying to find somewhere for me or not taking me into account at all, and then because I don't eat, I have a tendency to faint due to a number of my health conditions.
- I feel like you think that I am a selfish person. No, I am trying to ensure that I look after my own health, that to me is not selfish. You are always told, to look after yourself before others.
- I always try to after others. I am a very caring person.
- Yes, your staff helped me resolve one of the issues, re my meal. Doesn't mean that I can't give you some feedback and advise what has happened.
- I have studied Hospitality Management and have previously worked in the industry for more than 10 years. I work in customer service. At least I am willing to give the feedback, than for these similar situations continue to occur.
- I do sincerely apologise for my actions for that night and for the way that I may have come across.
Also, I was just informed that there is a Review from Bethany 3 months ago, who is one one of the other Bridesmaids. She has also touched on things, that I hadn't mentioned.
Also, due to one of my mental health diagnosis' I get fixated on things. I had become fixated on amd looking forward to having pasta since when I had organised the night.
At least it shows how popular you are with catering for those who are Gluten Free.
Furthermore, your rude and dismissive responses to both Bethany and I, have played havoc on my Mental Health, by turning it back on us.
I remember one lady being very rude to us on the night and I am not sure if that was you or someone else.
You could have been the bigger person and been a bit kinder and gentler on your responses.
I just hope others have a better time than the group of 8 of us who went.
First time ever to this restaurant
Absolutely Blown away!
All three meals had by us were nothing short of mind blowing. Couldn’t even finish my meal and I’m a BIG Eater.the curried gnocchi was sensational as was the prawn and crab bisque and the pork belly.
A truly hidden gem within the mornington restaurant community
Do yourself a favor, make a booking
Staff are also incredibly friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
We will be back…. Ad
Sunday dinner was delicious. Bara was perfect. Quiet ambiance with awesome service. Catered for GF on request.
Food and service where absolutely fabulous. Highly recommended. The best steak ever, cooked to perfection! Dessert was to die for.
Could not fault the service, however the lasagne wasn't very good. Watery, tasteless mince, no bechamel sauce, and the lasagne sheets were overcooked. My son ordered the lasagne as well and said the same thing. My husband was told by our waitress his pizza would take a bit longer, we had almost finished our meals and had to ask another waitress where was the pizza. Very disappointing and a wasted trip
Customer service at its best! I was there midweek as part of a group of 10, celebrating the birthdays of my mother and Aunts. The lady who served us and looked after our table the whole time was very attentive, friendly, patient and professional. The food was very tasty and enjoyable and we will definitely be back.
Very slow service on a Saturday night. Hen's celebration was unfortunately ruined when the food came out an hour late to a hangry table and our gluten free member was informed that the last gluten free pasta had been serviced to the wrong table so she was getting risotto. This was also due to the starters and mains coming out at different times, when they should have been served together. The mains were delicious but the donuts for dessert were a bit tough and again our teas were delayed. The manager was very apologetic. Beautiful building and decor but I won't be going back.
Had a 60th birthday dinner here. I must say hats off to Bill. He is an absolutely amazing person and gave us a 10 out of 10 service. Bill keep up the great work and looking forward to our next dinner here.
Pleasant restaurant in a fantastic location away from the main street. The food was excellent.had the barramundi special.was delicious.wife had the pork belly and loved it. Portioned just right so she didn't over eat. The owner is hands on here visiting each table and checking on his staff. I would recommend eating here for a relaxing night out with quality food and great service.
Lovely food and lovely service. Not from around that area but will be back again for sure:)
