Drool worthy cheese cabinet with an even more drool worthy toastie selection! Always served with a smile by the staff who seem so passionate and happy about their work!

Always a treat stopping here when shopping at Prahran market and the fondue toastie is just sublime 4 different cheeses with cheesy goodness and kicks my cholesterol through the roof.

Maker and Monger is not only an amazing place to buy some of the best cheeses you will ever eat, but also the single best cheese toasties you will ever try. Best described as happiness in a toastie. Guaranteed to put a smile and wow on your face. Great options and cheese toastie variety to choose from too. You can take away or eat there as well.

I visited for International Grilled Cheese Day and received a free Mac Attack toastie + Capi drink. It was absolutely incredible. Despite the fact they were giving these away to 100 people, they made each of them with love and care.

The sandwich was perfect in every respect, from the creamy, flavoursome Mac & cheeses, to the sprinkling of salt flakes to finish. The blue cheese dipping sauce was impeccable – not overly strong, yet still flavoursome.

The staff were absolutely lovely and welcoming too. They have made it onto my Favourites list!

Edit: Hi Anthony,
Thanks for your reply:) this is a genuine review. I’ve always wanted to try your famous toastie but disappointed so I am putting in my 2 cents here. I’m sure you guys used the best quality ingredients as possible but for the taste its not exceptionally better. The sandwich was bland in terms of aroma and cheese flavor, the sourdough was dry inside with salted butter so it’s salty. Moisture and oil are two different categories, you can have a buttered toast which have crispy crust but retain moisture inside the bread:) That just my preference not saying the bread wasn’t poor quality! Also there’s fat coming out from the toasted cheese.
Plus salt flakes on top of the toastie

Had the $15 ham and cheese toastie and it’s the really just boring toastie which taste the same as other shops with a higher price tag.

Bread: good sourdough bread but dry and hard when it is toasted. Could have butter it first?

Ham: just 2 thin slices of ham and it’s not even special.

Cheese: Comte cheese tasted too mild and masked by the saltiness of ham. I would expect a specialty cheese shop to use a less common and more different/bold taste of cheese.

Overall the toastie tasted salty and oily instead of the 3 ingredients coming into harmony.

Just like you go to Market Lane and you wouldn’t expect the coffee taste like 7-eleven coffee right?

A pretty good toastie. The hype was perhaps a little high, but not disappointed, just didn't get the WOW. Their system is great and the team were very friendly, there was seating on a Sunday @11am so no complaints at all!

My partner got me a box of different cheeses for Valentines Day, all of them were fantastic except for the Amiel goat cheese which was inedible, the flavour was awful, and the texture seemed off as well. What was most disappointing though was that I contacted Maker and Monger privately to see if this was normal as sometimes goat cheese is a bit funky (never this bad though) or perhaps if could have been from a bad batch and they read my message but never bothered responding at all. We live in Windsor and were regulars so this whole incident left a bad taste in our mouth (pun intended). We couldn't eat it and ended up chucking the whole thing in the bin.

This toastie is what dreams are made of. The all American - gooey cheese, onion and parsley. Perfection! Highly recommend getting yourself one when you’re next at the Prahran market

The best Grilled cheese toastie in Melbourne for sure. Everything you could hope for and more. Melt in your mouth goodness. Was lucky enough to live just a few blocks from here and it was always a highlight of my day, week or whenever I had a craving for one of these. Nothing beats a simple grilled cheese sandwich with top quality produce.worth the money, time and I guess parking ticket if your planning to park on chapel and walk to the market.

This an amazing toastie! Chose the fondue special and next time I will choose the fondue special. This is exactly what a cheese fondue would taste like. So good! Also, their cheese selection is top notch. Forget your regular supermarket, this is the place to be!

Was in Prahran Market looking for good pungent goats cheese for my husband (who is French so he is picky). The lady who served me knew her stuff; recommended this cheese to me and my husband loves it! Hubs said this really struck nostalgia for him. Thanks guys, good stuff and pretty sure we will be back for more!

Generally speaking, I don't like toasties. Too cheesy or greasy most of the time. 0 flavours other than just cheese. I've always viewed it as a slightly better alternative to fast foods. Nothing more than that.

Now, that was until I tried the toasties from Maker & Monger. Their toasties were of a different dimension. Arguably the best cheese toasties in Melbourne. We grabbed All American and Truffle Mushroom toasties but definitely liked All American much more. The quality of the cheese was out of this world. Fresh, gooey melted cheese oozing out of thick toasted breads. Just delicious. A must-try place. Can't wait to go back and try their other signature toasties!

Fats + Carbs + salt is a winning formula for happy tastebuds. Heavily buttered bread is the vessel for a blend of artisan cheeses and the addition of onion to give it that extra depth and curiosity of flavour. Toasted in a press which leaves it a bit flatter than a pan fried grilled cheese but that's the trade off for getting the cheese to your mouth quicker.

I ordered some of the much hyped Maker and Monger toasties delivered and eagerly awaited their arrival (. I think my partner has heard the word 'toastie' to last a lifetime). My partner's "Wow! These are ACTUALLY SO GOOD" says more than I could. In short, the hype is warranted.

Found out about it through Broadsheet newsletter. The quality of the product is incredible. The milk tastes so good you can drink it plain. The cheese is incredible. I called up and they were flexible and happy to swap in some cheeses for me. Love the tote bag. Given the crazy circumstances it is very nice to have a some luxury food in the fridge.

Ummm YES PLEASE. Sooooo tasty! Our favourite is the American grilled cheese. There’s always a stool available and the staff is super friendly. Only problem - limiting yourself to only one.

Oh taste that cheesy goodness! You can smell them from a mile away. The cheese selections are excellent with a range of European varieties at a reasonable price. The toasted cheese sandwiches are also amazing, but I wish it was a little cheaper!:)
