55Great experience and lovely food, just in a hard spot to locate at night time. All staff were very attentive and the service was quick and efficient. The favourites were the soft shell crab bao buns, raw king fish and caramelised banana dessert.
Good flavors but rushed and hurried service. We ordered entrees and mains which were all served within 15 minutes. The wait staff were invasive to the extent that they cleared dishes and glasses before we had finished. We repeatedly had to point out that we hadn’t finished the drink or the dish. Different waiters would come and ask the same question. We spent the entire 1.5 hour sitting being interrupted and rushed by waiters and were made to feel like we were overstaying our welcome. We did leave exactly at 90 minutes. For the restaurant, please realise that food, although big, is only part of the attraction of a restaurant, warm service, and peaceful atmosphere are equally important. We probably won’t be back after this harried experience.
Hands down the Indonesian food in Australia. Mie goreng was my favourite and we thoroughly enjoyed the babi guling, beef rendang and nasi goreng bebek.
Cendol panna cotta was another highlight but I wasn’t convinced with the torched banana, I found the cheese cracker was too strong and salty.
Food was very good. We took vegetarian tasting menu and we got plenty of different dishes (3 small and 3 main but no dessert) and each individual dish was really tasty, well presented and kinda unique. I also really enjoyed my martini.
Staff however was not so good. They were professional but seemed too busy or angry or tired or just as if it was not their day (we were served by a few different waitresses and they all had very similar not-so-kind attitude). I missed Indonesian smiles (also so characteristic for Tasia & Gracia) and I did not like that a restaurant is situated in a large CBD glass building (definitely does not feel like Bali:).
Singaporean born. Living in Australia. Food was mediocre, the best dish was the soft shell crab bao which was spicy as anything. Loved it! Rest of the dishes I found to be quite sweet, even the Sambal Kangkong and Ikan Bakar. I've grown up eating this kind of food so to me it felt like the authencity has been lost with trying to cater for the Australian crowd. Less sweetness in all the dishes and not changing it to suit others tastebuds but rather what you eat in indonesia will honestly make a world of difference.
Haven't had Indonesian food this good in a long time. Sambal was spicy, food taste was on point. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Will definitely come back again.
We had the set menu with dessert and were extremely full. I especially liked the soft shell crab bao, skewers, crispy tofu with green beans, and the fish.
The atmospheres was perfect for a casual sit down dinner for the 4 of us. Service was excellent, I was never without water. Would recommend!
Absolutely a hidden gem! Food is 10/10
Service is prompt and always on the ball. Great vibe. Tookthe whole family, definitely recommend.
Was a huge amount of food, and Gracie and her team explained what each dish was. Part of group booking so we had a set menu. They catered for the only vegetarian as well.
Enjoyed the dinner immensely.
I don't have a single negative thing to say about this restaurant.
The service was exceptional; Staff were genuinely friendly and happy to be there. Some examples of this:
At one point, my partner asked where the bathroom was, to which the staff member literally led my partner to the bathroom.
As part of our degustation, we were informed that they would make sure we were full and satisfied before we left. My partner was really wanting to try a particular desert and was still a little peckish, so she asked for it, and got it at no extra cost.
On top of the service being top-tier, the actual restaurant itself is fantastic; The atmosphere is great (clearly designed by professional interior designers), the prices are low considering the quality of what is served, the menu is quite dairy-free/vegan friendly, and probably most importantly, the food tasted great. Albeit a couple dishes were a little too spicy—as you would expect from Indonesian cuisine.
If you like south-east Asian food at all, you should try this place.
Absolutely phenomenal food and such stellar service from Luke (who even took on the role of photographer for our small group). Will definitely be back, as missed out on the chance to try their desserts.
We went for the “feed me” like we always do. We like to be surprised. We had the satay chicken, pork belly bbq, barramundi, crispy duck, corn and dessert. There is also a good selection of mocktails and cocktails and very happy and helpful staffs. Highly recommend.
The service was quite bad. The guy serving us was trying to be nice and helpful but it was over the top and we felt like he was more rude than nice. Food wasn't nice for the price. There are many other Indonesian restaurants in Melbourne with better tasting food.
My first experience with fine dining Balinese cuisine. @makaninmelbourne did a splendid job!
We ordered the Gado Gado, Opur Tempeh, the Eggplant and the Beef Brisket.
Everything had its own significant taste and aroma but the highlight for me was the Panna cotta with jelly and glazed jackfruit. The creamiest panna cotta I've ever had.
Staff were super lovely and nice atmosphere too. The food was amazing! We ordered the salmon, chicken ribs, nasi goreng and a couple of starters and everything was perfect. We will be going back soon!
The best Indonesian food I've ever tasted served by the most lovely staff!
The desserts were all divine! We tried all three desserts (forgot to take a photo of the third because we dug into it as soon as it arrived), all of which blew us away! Definitely coming back for more!
Flavoursome, spicy to the palette but gives a lingering feeling that leaves us craving for more is what should've been for Malaysian curry dishes. That is what can be said of the sambal that comes together with the chicken murtabak that I ordered today. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. There was no trace of chicken. Only egg and onions were found in the filling of the 'murtabak'. This is hardly a murtabak without any meat. At this point,
I should probably call it roti telur bawang. Portions were abysmally small. I wouldn't be recommending this place any time soon when there are other places like Chilli India closeby that does the dish much better for the same price. If you're OK with sub standard Malaysian food and don't mind coming out of the eatery still feeling hungry, this is the place to go.
After missing the entrance 3x, I finally saw the place and met by friendly staffs. Went to our seat with very ample space in between tables and not crowded. We went for the “feed me” like we always do. We like to be surprised. We had the satay chicken, pork belly bbq, barramundi, crispy duck, corn and dessert. There is also a good selection of mocktails and cocktails and very happy and helpful staffs. Bonus, had a picture with the owners Tasia and Gracia, 2016 MKR winners! They were very accommodating and friendly.
Hard to find restaurant tucked away in a little alley off Lt Collins St. Food is decently priced and tasty. We rated the beef rendang and crispy duck. Pork ribs were just average. Dessert was unique and delicious. Service excellent. Overall very tasty food and value for money (which is hard to come by these days).
Love the food here. Great lunch menu. Tassia and Garcia know good food. Love the soft shell crab.
