Makan reviews
55What can I say, every time we visit Makan the food is exceptional. The staff are a delight, and the drinks are superb. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting good quality Indonesian cuisine.
Very aesthetic decor but the location was a bit difficult to find as its in an alleyway.
The beef brisket rendang paired with the jasmine rice was an absolute hit!
Staff were friendly & attentive.
First of all the address is misleading. Just go to the ground floor of Collins 360 building instead. It will be behind lifts. The food is amazing, melting on your tongue, the selection of sambals is quite tasty too. The stuff is very attentive, serve well with etiquette and good manners. Music is slightly louder than would be desired but not too much. Highly recommend this place for medium to higher meetings or family gatherings. Of course the prices are higher than desired but well, it is a great place.
I've been to Makan a few times and every time the food flavours are beautiful, the service is efficient and friendly and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommend
Hands down the best Indonesian dining experience that is authentic and upmarket atmosphere but still reasonably priced.
Unbelievable food at an incredible price hidden away in a small alleyway. The softshell crab buns and all the ribs are a must order! The cocktails were also wonderful.
Makan is just the business. Service is super exceptional-authentic on all levels - the food was amazing. Thanks so much!
My first time trying Indonesian cuisine, it was amazing, the fish, the pork the lamb, really good, the chicken wasn’t that good but still on point.
They where really attentive and check the table to see if everything was good on different times.
The ambient is good for family and couples.
For dinner is better to make a reservation.
Service was rushed, need to improve customer experience, understood busy but no need for staff to be rude.
The restaurant is located in the rear of an office building. The entrance is a little bit difficult to find and it is on a small side street. If you see a small sign that says MAKAN, just follow it, and you will see the main entrance to the restaurant. The food was good and the service was excellent. The iga bakar is excellent. Do not miss the dessert as it was delicious as well. FYI - the toilet is located outside of the restaurant but still in the office building. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
Bit on the pricier side for lunch, but the food is fantastic. Had the Nasi Rames which was delicious. All components were great.
Have had the mie goreng in the past, which is also good but pretty heavy as a lunch.
An absolutely delicious lunch in a very ambient atmosphere. My Nasi Rames was full of wonderful flavours and textures and my husband really enjoyed his Mie Goreng. I would thoroughly recommend Makan and we’ll certainly return.
We came for lunch and everyone enjoyed the dishes. We had Nasi Goreng, Mee Goreng, Salmon Rendang (?), Gado Gado, Soft Shell Baos, Panna Cotta & Coconut with rice dessert.
Overall, I would recommend!
I don’t understand the hype around this place. Food was okay - we ordered 4x dishes but each dish was pretty average - not delicious, but not terrible either.
The kingfish entree was ok. It had some kind of toasted garlic pieces that didn’t work very well with the fish.
The soft shell crab bao didn’t tastes very good.
The duck fried rice main had virtually no pieces of duck and was very small and overpriced for its small size. It tasted like your average fried rice that you can get as takeout, but it was double the price and tiny portions.
The dessert we ordered was some kind of sticky black rice with coconut ice cream. It was quite mediocre, I think the issue was that there were random spotches of super salty parts, and you didn’t know where so it was shockingly salty at times.
The inside is pretty though. Service is good.
Recommend go elsewhere, unless there’s nothing better to try.
Have been here few times in the times, went for lunch food quality have changed.and the service wasn’t as a good as it used to be.
I went yesterday to celebrate my anniversary. The staff was so friendly and the food weren’t mouth watering. However it was difficult to find the location on maps.
Delicious food, efficient staff, popular place so book in advance. Address misleading - go to Collins Way not Collins Street. Head into Little Collins Street, it’s next to the 360 Collins Street parking entrance/exit. Look at the photo I posted.
Excellent service and fantastic food. This place is highly recommended for all sorts of occasions. Note that it's tucked away inside a large building, depending on what side you enter from.
Good atmosphere, great service but the food is just too average. As Indonesian, I found the taste is not as good as I thought it would be. We ordered gado-gado and the sauce is kinda bitter maybe because the sauce is a little bit burnt.
As someone of Indonesian heritage food was a 3/5
Service was a -2/5
It was really hard to find.
Staff especially the lady that worked the door was super unfriendly and arrogant. The food was nicely presented but not worth the price. The food also made me feel really unwell the next morning.
Wouldn’t recommend, there are better Indonesian restaurants with better service and food.
