Madang Korean BBQ

Given this place is near us, I decided to give it a go on a Friday night. A few observations I'd share:

The trio set was quite average - eye and scotch fillet were lacking both in quality and freshness. I go and pay premium for meat at these restaurants on the assumption that their meats will be better than what I buy at local butchers. Clearly wasn't the case.

Side dishes were appaling. Shredded Kimchi and fish cake aren't exactly what you'd expect from a K-BBQ place like this.

Pork belly really let me down too. I would suggest finding a different supplier, as for all your other meats. Fresh pork belly, or one that has never been frozen, cooks and tastes very different to the pork we tried last night.

Overall, it was not one of my better dining experiences. And I'm not even comparing to premium BBQ joints in Korea, just to the few I've been to in the CBD.

The food was delicious, and amazing. The interior design was spot-on, and the atmosphere was fresh! Overall, I felt comfortable because the food was visually appealing and tasted delicious. The staff were very friendly! 100% would recommend:)

Portions are decent and the sides accompany the set menus well without being too heavy on the wallet.

Great for small/medium groups.

They serve quality meat. Portion is a little small. Side dishes too little. Could be more generous. But overall is very good place to dine.

First time trying Korean food, absolutely loved it. Having had no idea what to order, I chose from the reviews, bulgogi was amazing, firey chicken, kimchi pancake and a cheese macaroni dish. Definitely going back, this time to dine in. Great choice for dinner.

A really lovely family run Korean BBQ place - great interior design, nice lighting, fun music. Was super impressed by how friendly and helpful the wait staff were. The meat was yummy and well priced. I probably wouldn't have the beef bulgogi or fried chicken again, but the soups and the steamed egg were flavourful and delicious! I love how it's a family run business, dad in the kitchen, mum at front of house and kids waiting tables. Really great local place - we should all go and support!

Love the dark & elegant interior. Staff are rather quiet but did their job. Tried different meats for bbq. Beef bulgogi was everyone’s favourite that night. I had high expectation for their galbi (beef ribs) but that was not marinaded at all, unlike galbi I had in the past. Japchae was very nice. Fried chicken was nice and crispy on the outside, moist inside and tasty! They nailed the fried chicken! Seafood pancake was good, you can see the shrimps pieces. Overall very great bbq place to go to.

Madang have to be one of the best, if not, the best Korean BBQ restaurant in Melbourne. Servings were the right size & the meat were fresh. The service were good too. Will certainly be back. Highly recommended

Would recommend the beef sets and pork belly; there was plenty of sides and dishes to choose from. Perhaps it was understaffed that day but the dishes came out inconsistently as well as the service.

Amazing time and experience we had the two person set menu for 85 and was amazing highly recommend.

Great Korean bbq place to eat with family and friends. There are a variety of food to select from including different cuts of meat.

Staff are attentive and cook the bbq for all customers.

The guy cooking our feast was a legend.

He was fun and helpful and joined into the conversation.

He was apologetic at first but we encouraged the joint conversation the food was great also.

Will definitely return.

A beautiful hard working family owned restaurant. We come here at least once a month. The food is always so tasty, the staff and service are so welcoming and accommodating.

One of the best Korean BBQs in town! They're really good with awesome service good quality stuff!

Amazing Angus ribs marinated, definitely my favourite! Really good Korean BBQ. The corn was delicious as the kimchi soup. A little bit disappointed with the fried plate (chicken wings, prawns, could have more flavour into it or sauce)

First time here, service was so good, they helped us through the menu, food awesome, very full, the whole experience cannot fault, we will be back yum

This restaurant has beautiful interior design along with delicious food. The atmosphere provided warmth, and joy. I have been to numerous Korean BBQ restaurants and never had a restaurant that would exceed my expectations. Great quality food, friendly staff members and workers. I would definitely visit this restaurant again with my family to enjoy a meal of traditional Korean BBQ 좋아요!

Great place! The surprise birthday fined lights and sing was a hilarious surprise and greatly recieved. Good I'd amazing and plentiful and our space was nice and upbeat without being too loud and intense to enjoy. Great experience!

First of all, the interior was extremely outstanding! Very Unique Korean BBQ style and was an amazing experience. We ordered Trio set and the food was extremely delicious. Soft Tofu soup was fabulous and would defiently try again. All the meats were definietly Premium quality as well as their Customer service. Staffs were extremely friendly and we felt like we were back in Korea once again. Would highly recommend if you love Korean BBQ and looking for an authentic Korean BBQ Restaurant
