L'espresso

Great food, great atmosphere, generally great service, however, the old guy at the door behaved a bit like a bouncer.

Had lunch here with my family, food was excellent. Will happily return if in town again. I mean come on, its 9 days later and I am still thinking about the meal. (Duck, Gnocchi and the salads were standouts).

Take a trip to Ballarat for breakfast!

Apparently the first place in Ballarat to get an espresso machine and it’s still cranking. Plus vinyl. Plus donuts.

What an exceptional experience. The service was on point and the food was next level! Highly recommend the mushroom bruschetta if you're after savoury or the creamed rice if you're needing something sweet.

So I went with my 4 year old expecting a nice lunch. Well, when I asked if I can go in for a look and the bald male waiter’s answer is ‘ Why? Everything is here. ’, pointing at the window with pastry, which is a strange response making me uncomfortable, considering it’s still acceptable for cafe clients to check out the dining environment and full menu, etc. So we sat outside, ordered a coffee and small lunch. By the time I was about to pay, the same male tried to charge us $6 more for an OJ we didn’t order. And when I questioned it he wasn’t genuinely apologetic. Anyway, I felt the service provided had a lot of unwanted attitude and unfriendliness. Really hope it’s not because of my Asian ethnicity that I’ve encountered this kind of selective service.

Dropped in for lunch today during our visit from Melbourne and this place exceeded our expectations. Cosy ambiance, attentive prompt service and a great choice of food. We enjoyed the scrambled Parmesan eggs and spaghetti bolognaise.

Nice food a little squashy inside great coffee and is usually a pretty busy little place. Definitely worth a visit

Had the eggs Benny, was a little over salted but still managed to taste very good, the glazed donuts are to die for which will make me come back!

What a find! This cafe is just brilliant. A warm inviting atmosphere on a cold Ballarat day. The coffee is no less than perfect and you won't be able to stop at just one. Devine cakes and pastry made freshly on premises. The savoury menu is extremely well thought out, complex while fresh. Sardines with potato rosti for me. Polite, friendly and attentive staff. Music themed for added interest.

We came here for a coffee break and the cafe was quite busy. The Portuguese tart was nice and not too sweet. However, the service was really bad. I stand there waiting to be served and the waitress just walk in front of me back and forth without telling me that they are table serve. Bad service

We have had many visits over the years and always very good. Great coffee! Very good food. The only problem is that they are often so busy that I can't get in to check out the music. Oh well. Picky, I know. Sorry.

Great coffee and an amazing vibe. LPs and CDs line the wall and the staff were friendly and polite. Definitely be back next time I'm in Ballarat.
