Lee Ho Fook reviews
71Great modern Chinese food. Was here for a special birthday, service was great and super friendly. Crispy eggplant is a must try
Dropped in on a recommendation by a trusty foodie friend and this absolutely hit the spot! Was getting hangry at the 1.5 HOUR line at Chin Chin nearby so was seated in Lee Ho Fook within 20 minutes arriving on a busy Saturday night.
Their famous for their duck but it was sold out by the time we wanted to order so we had the Pork Jowl “Char Siu” i.e caramelised pork, the whole flounder in black bean sauce and the fujian style scallop & spanner crab fried rice which to me was the understated star of the show and was generous with the seafood and had the Wok-Hei or “breath of the wok” fragrance to it.
Flavours were amazing and not overpowering, all easy to palate.
Was looking for modern Asian/Australasian comfort that night and boy I went home happy
Good: Original recipes that are quite tasty. Fancy venue.
Needs Improvement: Service was mediocre. Plates left on the table, took a long time.
Bad: The price is silly almost to the point they are taking the p*ss
Saw Lee Ho Fook on Gok's Chinese Takeaway (Victor was much slimmer) and have been wanting to visit for a while now! Oh what a treat! We opted for the banquet, 1 with and 1 without the wine pairing. My partner thought the wine/sake was paired really well with each dish. We both had favourites, the chicken skin and eggplant were standouts. For dessert, the burnt caramel with osmanthus custard was superb. Definitely try the banquet if you are here for the first time and dont know what to order. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Stellar experience. Very good atmosphere.
3.5 star I went with a friend to Lee Ho Fook for lunch today, as I have never tried this place which is just around the corner from where I work.
My friend and I started off with the scallop and tofu entree. $9 for one scallop we expected it to be huge and amazing, and whilst it was good, it wasn’t $9 good.
Smashed cucumber and fungus was deliciously garlicky, but the stir fried shredded potato was a bit too salty in some parts. The other parts are perfect though with a slight kick to it.
We ordered a pan fried flounder and it was amazing. I really liked the deep fried pork fat (?) on top of it. The whole dish was so good with rice.
All up the whole meal was about $70 per person, a bit expensive to be honest, but nonetheless quite enjoyable.
Wonderful food, Incredible flavours. Staff were great too, helped us safely navigate the menu for a coeliac.
Some of the best authentic Chinese food I have ever had. Three Pepper Chicken, Cucumber Salad and the dumplings were all incredible. They did mess up one drink order but the food more then made up for it. Had mentioned it was my birthday when walking in and they gave the table a free tiramisu at the end. Would absolutely go back.
Yay! Good Chinese food with a little variation and twist here and there.
Different to your normal Chinese restaurant with round tables, this is a modern take in both environment and food.
Service was very good and attentive.
Spiced lamb ribs were great (I actually found it nicer without the sauce)
Crispy eggplant is a must.
Chicken was very juicy, and the sauce was unique.
Also love a good pippies dish! With the Murray cod.
Walked out stuffed.great meal!
Just wonderful! Highly recommend. We went in a big group so we could order most of the food in the menu and every thing was better than the other one! God never had eggplants so delicious. Next time I’m in Melbourn will go there again.
Amazing place, my love for Chinese food has intensified, first class service, can't wait to go back again.
Been here five times. Food is consistently good. Love the pumpkin seed ice cream, with jam and toasted pumpkin seeds and bits of cocoa nibs. Service is impeccable too! Special mention to a thoughtful staff who relayed the message that my friend and I were sharing a main dish, the kitchen plated it separately for both for us. It was a pleasant surprise for us.
