Le Café Flo reviews
60 Don't come here if you want to linger.
Having had crepes and coffees, my friend and I were unceremoniously 'moved along' by French host because "there are people waiting for the table". We had been there approximately 30-40 minutes. In a bid to stay longer we ordered two more coffees which he begrudgingly served, but was back five minutes later (I hadn't even finished my coffee) to shoo us off. Where does this happen? Haven't experienced this in a Melbourne cafe for decades.
Best cafe in Thornbury! Always delicious, friendly, exciting experience dining here. Best French cafe in the north!
Absolutely love everything about Le Café Flo, it's one of my favourite places to eat in Melbourne! I always order a galette or crepe and they are amazing every time. Flo and the staff are so friendly and welcoming.
This little place always delivers, staff are friendly the food is always and I mean always fresh and Yummy, the coffee is great as well.a nice little place to just sit and relax and enjoy.
Parfait petit coin de France. Fresh, honest flavours at a reasonable price. Flo and his dedicated staff welcome you like you just came home from a long journey.
Croissants are large with delicious high quality fillings. Ham cheese and tomato one is excellent. Nice ambience with the French flags and cute tables. Give you a small treat with hot drinks. Accomodating of kids. Gem!
Coffee was ok but very disappointed to see that the cafe isn't appropriately following covid regulations. Handling cash and then touching food with no sanitation, seating guests close together and not sanitising tables are a few examples.
Was here for a friend's birthday. Food was awesome, Flo is definitely a lovely bloke with a good range of wine. I grew up reading Tin Tin so seeing those pages on the wall feels at home.
The French baguette here is number one.
The almond croissant is Top class.
Breakfast here is to die for. Great ratings too. Wonderful experience for my family.
We were in Northcote for 5 days but went there for 3 days.
Flo's Cafe is one of my regular haunts. Flo provides excellent coffee and a range of wholesome, home made French food. If you are a Francophile then you can also enjoy speaking in French to Flo and his staff. There are a number of good cafes around Flo's and it is part of a great hub in Thronbury. Best wishes to Flo and staff. Ian H
Came to the cafe early afternoon with my partner for the first time. We walked in and stood for a few minutes as the girl that "worked" there, walked past us, made eye contact and ignored us completely. We walked out after waiting another couple of minutes to be acknowledged. Went to a lovely cafe 100m up the road, in which the service was fantastic. Acting pretentious doesn't make you a French cafe.
The owner here is super friendly and will always try to accomodate your seating. It’s a cozy, authentic little French cafe. I really like Le Classic sandwich or the French Onion Soup, but sometimes the soup is a miss (not enough flavour?) Tasty coffee too. Merci beaucoup!
Been here multiple times and have always enjoyed the friendly service and food. Traditional French fare that is very yummy.
We came for breakfast here after all the rave reviews and must say we were pretty disappointed. We had the eggs benedicte and found it pretty plain, though their std croissants and almond croissant are good.
One of the best little French cafe experiences in Melbourne. I adore spending a lazy weekend brunch here eating delicious things, with excellent coffee and a glass of amazing wine or cider. Always great without exception.
Love this place and all the staff (and owner) are charming.
So many wonderful options and transports me back to happy holidays
Merci
4.2. This is a very good place. It’s a charming little French inspired cafe on High Street with nice indoor and outdoor spaces. It has a quirky French inspired interior with interesting plates photos and other accoutrements adorning the walls. I also loved that the menus are presented inside French artists’ record album covers. It’s kitsch but it works.
My opening long black was lovely. I’ve rarely ever had a good coffee in France but thankfully this cafe hasn’t followed that lead. The brew was mighty tidy. I went with one of those build your own brekkies for my meal. Two poached eggs on toast with mushrooms, emmental cheese, baby spinach and smoked salmon. I chose wisely. The dish was all quality and really tasty. The cheese was amazing, the mushies excellent, the spinach was sautéed superbly and the salmon was absolutely drop dead gorgeous. The service size was also bang on perfect too. My partner had a crepe that she pronounced excellent. Our friend had quiche with salmon, goat’s cheese and spinach. I tried a bit. The quiche was a cracker. It was really tasty with flavour all there and the crust was light, tasty and not too heavy. A winning dish.
Service was friendly and charming throughout. The French music playing added to the general bonhomie.
Our friend lives in an apartment just near this place. She loves it and says the French owner is very nice. He wasn’t there today but his lovely and capable staff made up for his absence.
This is a really good place. No wonder it is popular. Highly recommended.
Our large, extended family was visiting from Adelaide and we stayed in Thornbury, close to High Street. Le Cafe Flo was the highlight eatery of our Melbourne experience. The lead customer service staff, William, was an excellent and very humorous host! The food was authentically French and full of flavour. If we lived in Melbourne Le Cafe Flo would be our weekly gourmet brekkie venue! Thanks to Florian, William and all staff for making our two visits very memorable (for all the right reasons!) We recommend Le Cafe Flo to everyone! Best wishes, Con, Genevieve and Matthew. +
Terrible experience, unfortunately.
We were there on a trip to Melbourne from Adelaide and were recommended this place by our AirBnb host and were looking forward to the experience to remind us of the French breakfasts we have when visiting family back in Morocco and France. Unfortunately, we were heavily disappointed.
Though the staff members seemed lovely, the manager treated my husband and I very unprofessionally because we brought in a small portable cup of coffee from home. We ordered two breakfast meals and a coffee for myself and yet the manager proceeded to throw indirect comments at me regarding the coffee we brought in when I approached the counter to pay him. On top of this, while we were sitting down waiting for our orders, my husband moved his chair slightly to the side of the table so he was not blocking the walkway to the counter. Because of this, the manager glared at us and instructed one of his staff members to rearrange the tables next to us because we had to move over one of the tables sightly. This was done in a very rude manner, though it’s hard to explain. I hate to say this, but I feel as though we were discriminated against because of our ethnicity and the manager will know exactly what I mean!
Amazing. Tres bonne. The food was spectacular. Only trumped by the friendliest people who provide brilliant service. The coffee was perfect, from macchiato to cafe au lait. Will definitely be back. Merci
