Le Café Flo reviews
60As usual lovely food and charming staff and of course Florian. Love you all and thank you for yet another pleasant dining experience. Will be back soon.
Le Cafe Flo is an absolute institute in this part of town, and for good reason. Quiches will blow your mind, as will the pastries. Always quite busy but the service never drops. Thank you!
I love the coffee here. It's smooth and strong. Unfortunately there are almost zero vegan options when it comes to food. But if you just want coffee you won't be disappointed.
Omygoodness! God bless the hands of whoever makes those delicious gluten free brownies! Great, happy customer service also
I’ve tried quite a few things, and all the baked goods I’ve tried have been delicious. The take away baguettes are made fresh to order, and the cinnamon scrolls are my absolute fave. Also pretty well priced for the quality of the food.
A terrific place to go for crepes and coffee. Lovely staff & delicious food. I'll be going back again.
Great food and service, not a lot of space inside or outside so no recommended for groups over 4 people.
Authentic French breakkie and lunch.
To keen francophiles looking for a place to eat: si vous voulez etre recu comme un chien dans un jeu de quilles, then this is the place to go! After nearly 20 years I had forgotten how some of my compatriots can be rude. Oh well, I will have to pass on another soggy salmon croissant which was not what I ordered anyway.and also pass on being asked to leave because I was served in a take away package (which I did not asked for since I was sitting at a table) Overall an hilarious experience if food and service is not your primarily concern. Bisous & good luck.
Decent food. (Sweet) crepes are very nice
Service has room to improve for hospitality, and not ignoring customers sitting at corners
Great cafe/restaurant lead by the warm and welcoming Florian. Lucky us to have Flo and his team in Thornbury.serving delicious French dishes in a Frenchish ambience he and his team so naturally create. Every customer is welcomed as a friend. Never had a bad meal here. Great coffee great food.
Such a great local gem! We love the great selection of pastries and baguettes. The service is always great and the owner is always happy to chat!
Beautiful little french cafe serving good coffee and delicious food. Perfect for families and friends to catch up in a relaxed setting with the added ambience of French music in the background.
This cafe has been my favourite cafe for ages for TAKE AWAY.
I got a table today for 4adults + 2todds+2babis, and I found people next us were leaving so I combined a table to have a little more space for kids and a pram.
1. The owner came to us said that " We're busy and can't give you a table" and snatched the table from us without giving us some time to organise. So we rush to packed away and squash all kids in 1 table
2. Kids were getting some books from the shelf which is just under the register. Kids were excited to read some books while adults were eating. The owner said to us that " No kids around here, we're busy"with shaking his head.
I totally understand kids were on your way, but can you say something nicely and politely. As some costumers mentioned below, he is not really professional cafe owner to be. Please be nice to people.
I haven't have this rude experience in Melbourne for ages so kind of shocking how we treated by him.
-5 stars for customer service
4 stars for food/pastries
Recently came here for a late breakfast. I felt they had good food and great staff. We had a good time.
Another great (takeaway) meal, terrific service and good time vibe. As they say, do yerself a favour and get down to Flo's.
Visited this well established Thornbury Cafe for Sunday brunch. It was particularly busy and buzzy (as it often can be) however owner Flo and the team always work hard to find room and seat their customers quickly. Two different sweet crepes were ordered one with chestnut cream ($8.50) and the other with poached pear and syrup and dark chocolate sauce ($10), all crepes are served with cream Chantilly. Both crepes were in a word Delish. The cafe itself is like a little part of France in a little part of Thornbury with it's walls decorated with various French posters and advertisements. Because of Melbourne's apparent skill at self sabotage we are locked down again and the one good thing that happened was that we finally tried the Cafe Flo take home and reheat meal which was WONDERFUL in every way. The truffle mash, the seasoned tomatoes and the freshly made chicken vol au vents were all absolutely delicious. The Apple Tartin desserts were a wonderful finish. We cannot recommend Cafe Flo highly enough!
It's out first time and we love the food, ambience and service of this busy French cafe. The smoked salmon galette is worth it.the crepe was crispy on the outside but soft and spongy on the inside. The melted feta cheese highlighted the smokiness of the salmon and the freshness of the spinach. This is a great dish if you are not too hungry and the best way to finish it is with a slice of raspberry pie?
Like others who have reviewed this cafe, I would say that the quality of the food is good but the service from the MALE proprietor is appallingly rude. Today we ordered two croissants and two pots of tea from him and after waiting a very long time for the tea I said I would pay for the food and leave. He rudely shouted, 'Take it for free and I never want to see you again. ' We also noticed the lack of attention to COVID rules. There are many excellent cafes in Northcote/Thornbury High Street so we don't have to put up with this sort of service in 2021.
Food was excellent
Visited twice. On our second visit we asked the owner if we could pay separately. This meant just 2 diferent eftpos tramsactions and he was quite rude about us asking. He did however allow us to pay separately. I would go again
