Le Bouchon French Cuisine reviews
57This is my place to go to when I am around the area. Very good quality of food and friendly staff. The relaxing atmosphere makes me enjoy the food even more. Thankyou Le Bouchon team.
High quality food served by pleasant efficient staff. Even our 4yo grandson was catered for.
We will return.
This is an expensive / upmarket restaurant and lunch time reservations need to be made well in advance. The menu offers a good selection of choices and there were some excellent specials available as well. Being a more traditional French restaurant it might be a challenge if you have specific dietary requirements. The quality of the food was first class (we had soup, scallops, chicken, duck and salad) and the servings are very generous so probably best to consider whether you would prefer entree or desert early on. Front of house service was very good and the wine list provided many options at various price points. Parking at the rear makes it easy.
Impeccable service and food! Loved all the French waiters who made you feel so welcome and loved.
Superb!
I didn't expect a French restaurant this good in the 3B region (Balnarring, Baxter, Bittern).
Service was warm and friendly
Menu diverse and representative
Food and presentation a delight
Atmosphere cosy and engaging
Sound levels great to have a conversation with out yelling
Budget value for money for the quality provided
Not surprised you need to book ahead.
We'll be back.
Lovely and quiet. Very relaxing. Staff very professional and friendly. Food is nice, hopefully next time I'll leave room for dessert.
The service was phenomenal. I am 8 months pregnant and staff were extremely accommodating by grabbing a cushion for me to sit on and dine in comfort. They understood my dietary restrictions and were incredibly friendly which made the experience personal and humorous. The food was incredibly tasty and worth the prices. Cannot recommend enough!
Great authentic French cuisine with good service to match, book in advance to avoid missing out
Sensational food, everything was sooo tasty we had a lovely night. Staff were so helpful and attentive. Recommend
Wonderful night.so much fun.food fabulous.highly recommend a visit.a favourite over many years and never disappoints
We haven’t been to Le Bouchon for over three years so we were looking forward to returning and especially ordering the French Onion soup! Sadly we were disappointed with our meal! The soup was almost black to look at and the flavour was just too strong. It came with two small pieces of bread with a little Parmesan melted on top … it would have been much more enjoyable with lots more melted Parmesan on top of the soup and dial down on the richness! I then had fish and my husband had pork belly.both meals were nothing special and lacked much flavour!
The service was wonderful and the staff very friendly and attentive.but sadly we were very disappointed with our meals.
What a pleasent surprise this place is, nestled in to its strange little location. But from the word 'go', the experience is well worth the cost. Great wines support great meals and they've done right by the theme cuisine, while honouring local pallets. But don't expect a fully 'French' experience, the peninsula is probably not ready for that. One piece of advice: save room for dessert!
Authentic French food, good service and reasonable prices. We will be back when in the area for sure.
What a lovely classic French bistro. The venue is aesthetic. Booking needed. For entree, steak tartare was flavourful while escargot was not the best one I have tried (I would say it was average). For main, steak was perfectly cooked with very yummy sauce. The special of the day fish was great, absolutely loving the vanilla sauce; so hearty and wintery taste. Chocolate mousse for dessert was a bomb as well. Would definitely come back to try more of their main dishes.
Exceptional staff and quaint venue. The food was amazing, everything was prepared and cooked to perfection. Will definitely visit again!
Food is fantastic here but the treatment on arrival was deplorable. Arrived at 11: 55 for a 12pm lunch, and was told they would seat me when they open (even though I’m heavily pregnant). I had to go sit in my car to wait. Very average treatment from the woman who spoke with me. I would expect better, but in particularly towards someone so pregnant.
I rate this as the best regional french restaurants in melbourne. Authentic feel in seating with some French decor no background music (Thank god) I had the escargot (not chewy soft to the palate) Fish of the day with frits T (The sauce was excellent not overpowering the perfectly seared fish) and affogato. Bring your own is acceptable Plenty of safe parking immediately outside. I recommend bookings even mid week. (Disclaimer this was my first visit and im not associated with the business)
Great food great wine. Perfectly cooked steak. Lovely service. Need to book 2-3weeks in advance as they are super busy. Can be quite noisy inside.
Snails and scallops brilliant, eye fillet was delicious so was the porterhouse but the fat on it was ridiculous but apart from that brilliant place, definitely go again wish they had boulibaisse on me menu xxx
A perfect example of how if the front of house serving staff are rude to customers it taints the entire culinary experience. With the new Covid regulations many places are now requiring set times for their guests to arrive so they are able to stagger their sittings. After arriving on time one wild wintry night we were delighted to be seated in a beautifully decorated restaurant our drinks were served & we waited to place our order. An old waiter wearing traditional French black & white tshirt eventually approached our table after 20 mins of rearranging cutlery on nearby tables & greeting customers with effusive mercis & bonjours. The menu is in French & English when I greeted him & tried to order in French he rudely interrupted, said he didn’t speak French with what sounded like an Italian accent but would send someone who did - so we were left another 20 or so minutes. Not a good start. The scallops are skate cut from stingray. The onion soup was strangely overly sweet. The fillet Mignon is just seared steak served with an insipid thin tasteless sauce. The French fries were excellent as was the duck. Still feeling the bad taste of the waiter we were presented with the bill over $220 and asked to add a tip - would we prefer to add 10% 20% or more? Here’s a tip - there are better places at half that price with dessert that know how to appreciate our custom locally without the arrogance or patronising attitude!
