La Tortilleria reviews
82Super friendly staff and really tasty and fresh food. Quesadillas and tacos are top. Me and my partner got full and spent only 90 $. Muchas gracias
I had heard some good things about this place, however, the tacos I got missed the mark. I got 4 different tacos to try (take away) and honestly they were all average tasting - something that I could easily get at another restaurant. In my opinion, it's really not worth coming here unless you're in the area.
Been here twice and ordered delivery once. Kept hoping it would get better (they are local and I love Mexican food) but it didn’t. If you’re looking to try Mexican food for some novelty and want a place you can take kids and super white family members then go for it. If you’re looking for tacos that taste anything at all like stalls/trucks in Mexico or LA, hard pass. Yes they have alright sauces (well the green one is nice, other varieties include one-dimensional spicy or smoky) but the actual proteins are so so bland. Too much oil, not enough salt, and honestly I couldn’t taste any cumin/coriander/oregano/spices at all in the meats. The pico was also bland. One star for presentation (it all LOOKS tasty) and one because my parter says the chicken tinga tacos are pretty good. Sorry guys.
*Delicious food, fast service
*Size is a bit small compared to price
*Poor costumer service specially because I went with a baby and there was not compassion from one of their staff member. I hope it changes
*Super dirty toilet
Unfortunately I have moved to the other side of the city and when I lived in the Western suburbs I frequented this restaurant. It's the best Mexican style restaurant in Melbourne. The food is reasonably priced and the service is excellent. The food is very delicious. I am going to miss La Tortilleria.
Food was great but service not so much.
After getting there we were ignored for a few minutes until the wait staff finally seated us, it wasn’t busy yet. We ordered the banquet as soon as we sat down. Then whilst my partner was eating a taco they just served us we were told to leave in 8 minutes. They were yet to serve us dessert as well. If they wanted us out, they should have served the food faster and told us at the start of the night we had to leave. Really disappointed given how good the food was. Uncertain if we will return.
Pros:
Amazing food quality. Best tacos I've has in my life (not joking).
Beverages are reasonably prices and unique.
Cons:
Little pricey for what you get - food is worth it undoubtedly but you're going to need to spend at least $25 pp for a few tacos.
Service isn't bad - but not great, staff are very brisk. Indoor Seating area is incredibly cramped without much natural light.
2.5. Food Ok. Terrible service. Had a booking. Wait staff not at all warm or friendly didn’t speak English or know the menu. The three of us all got our food at different times and drinks took so long they didn’t arrive until the end of the meal. Wouldn’t go back.
Wow had some Mexican delight here. We turned up without a booking and they were totally packed- managed to squeeze us into a table. All the staff we talked to was incredibly nice and accommodating!
Definitely a must to try great food and great customer service.
Just rejected my cash payment
“we only accept digital now”.
Extremely sad to see another business reject legal tender & help build the digital prison that will ultimately lead to their own demise once the social credit system is ushered in. Won’t be buying their products anymore.
I've eaten Mexican all over the world. The quesadillas are the best I've ever had. All the tortillas and perfecto and made in house. The tacos are great, the texture of the tortillas are grouse. Thanks for saving Mexican in this country.
My wife pictured something else in her mind, good vibe, good customer service, good atmosphere and this place had none of that
Run of the mill. Nothing to stand out and say "love it" or "got to return".
Service.it's a bit like a Taco Bell take away.
Local and delicious, cute and concise - foods rich and flavoursome with the perfect touch of spice. Fun range of drinks (loved the Margs and Mezcal). Highly recommend!
Being married to a Mexican, it’s hard to find tacos on his mum’s level in Melbourne. We had been trying to find something authentic, this looked to be it, till we took a bite. The tacos came out cold and the meat was dry, at least there was no cheese on them. Plenty of street parking, it sounds like you’ll need a reservation on most days.
Busy restaurant I highly recommend book.we ordered beef taco beef quesadilla, chilaquiles and Pastor taco. Pastor taco was my favourite, I also recommend the chilaquiles and horchata, beef taco was a little bit dry.
Super vegan friendly place! Lovely traditional mexican food.
The vegan "meat" is super tasty
Highly recomanded.
Didn't really enjoy the food and was very expensive, no customer service at all, its better to cook at home and watch Netflix next time
Insanely busy and the seats on balcony get freezing, as for the food and drinks! 10/10 would eat again. Music was also I tad loud
Came here for lunch: had the special and a few sharing plates - WOW! Very authentic and delicious Mexican food! Even bought a couple bottles of sauce and salsa to take home. One of my favourite Mexican restaurants in Melbourne:)
