Take it from an Indonesian myself, it was my first time here, I ordered Bebek Betutu, and it was fantastic. What even makes this place special is the hospitality. The staff were super nice especially Chandra & Jimmy. My new favourite place in town!

Really good Indonesian food. Ordered iga bakar kecap which was juicy and not overly sweet like some places do this dish. Better than kedai satay too. Tried Soto Madura for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Good flavour and texture with the tripe and broth. Only downside was that they don't have main dishes to share so we ordered single dishes and shared. The fried fish had crispy skin and moist meat. Sambal goreng was spicy fried shallots. Sambal ijo was a green base sambal.

Haven’t had Kenangan in so long (since before lockdown ended, I had delivery since they haven’t had a store front yet hahaha). Food is as good as I remember, but still want to go back for their fried and grilled chicken and beef next time. Sadly they only open at night, I’d love to have it for lunch some time. We got the Nasi Campur Bali. The portion was way bigger than what I expected. Definitely worth it if you’re looking for a late night Indonesian supper!

One of the best Indonesian food in Melbourne, had kenangan both for dine-in and take-out. I especially love their Iga Bakar, Bebek Betutu and Bebek Garing (Grilled Ribs, Betutu Duck and Crispy Duck). Their taste is very authentic and they also offer different kinds of sambal, ranging from the not-so spicy to very spicy. I would definitely eat Kenangan again when I visit Melbourne

The best Indonesian restaurant I have ever been to so far! I had no idea what to order so I asked the waiter for some recommendations and he said the grilled beef ribs is their speciality. I ordered it and boy it sure did not disappoint. The meat was so tender you can just pull the bone straight out. The sauce that came with the ribs was just amazing as well. We also got a side of sambal eggplant which was much to my surprise, not spicy at all! They have about 5 different types of sambal and we went with the least spicy one which is tomato based

Best place for authentic Indonesian food or a general pig-out. We had the chicken satay, sambal fish, mie goreng, and finished off with some banana pastry. The portion sizes are very generous and we left feeling very satisfied! The service was friendly and quick. Quite busy for a Saturday afternoon (so you know the place is good!) but we sat outside with the toasty heaters and it was perfect! Definitely will return to get my fix of Indonesian food!

The best Indonesian food we’ve ever had with the service/hospitality to match! Came across this little place by chance but will definitely be returning and spreading the word to friends! Truly delicious and very well priced! Thanks for a fabulous meal!

4.5/5

This newly opened cafe cum diner does one of the best Indonesian food we know in Melbourne. Of course this was our first ever Indonesian meal and thanks to Kenangan we have tried many Indonesian restaurants.

They missed out getting full 5 only because we did not get to try their Rendang curry. Which they are pretty known for (all over by 7.15pm) Definitely returning to sample it

Hospitality is topnotch and the staff is exceptionally kind and always looking forward to helping.

One thing I really like about Kenangan is the taste never changed. Always tasty, generous portion. We never waited for more than 20 minutes for our food. Affordable price, plus attentive and friendly staff, this is the best indonesian restaurant in melborne so far in my opinion. So so good. We always come back for more.

First time I had dinner here today and I was really impressed with this restaurant. First of all, it feels like a proper restaurant (place and presentation wise) with affordable price and every single food we orderred was a.ma.zing! Aunthentic delicious food, well presented, order came fast and friendly sincere service, even though they were busy.

I orderred fried duck with sambal matah, duck was crispy on the outside and juicy inside, crumbs (keremesan) were yummy and not greasy.
Bakso goreng was the best I have ever had.
Crispy chicken skin was so good - no oily after taste.

I came here with my sister today and I cannot wait to come back with my husband and son:)

I tried their Iga Goreng and Bebek Goreng. They were so good. The kremes were so spot on delicous and crunchy. To think that I would find an authentic indonesian restaurant this close to my apartment and the taste are exactly the same as back home. I would recommend anyone who feel homesick or just want to try Indonesia cuisine to come to Kenangan.

Definitely my favourite hometown dishes in Melbourne, hands down the best! Love the wonderful service, the location, great variety of menu, not to mention, all dishes are so good can't fault them:). My faves are: Mie goreng, Nasi bali, Soto dishes and bakso goreng!
Keep up the great work guys!

Sticking to their roots.authentic and modernly presented Indonesian food.

I can't wait for these guys to find their permanent home in Melbourne.

They started as a take-away establishment in the most #lockdown City in the world.which unfortunately I've never ordered, just not a fan of #takeaway food.even lots of friends were raving about it, sorry friends But I'm just so glad that we waited until we can all dine-in so we can appreciate their offering straight from the kitchen.

After the end of the lockdown, we've been there a couple of times in their temporary home for dinners. I think we have nearly gone through all the dishes on the Menu.so far, easily the best and the most authentic Indonesian food in Melbourne by far, would be very hard to find a better ones.
Their "peanut sauce" and "Bakso Goreng" are even better than some places in Jakarta, Indonesia.and at the rate that they are charging it's just unbelievably good.they could have charge more and I'll be happy with that, the most expensive dish on the Menu was the $18.50 Ikan Goreng (fried fish). Well fried, crispy too, yes, some Indonesians would argue that is not in the same calibre as the Gurame Goreng at the legendary Laguna restaurant Jakarta that we are fond of, however for a young, relatively newby establishment overseas, outside Indonesia, they've presented well and should be proud in showcasing their version of ikan goreng here in Melbourne.and my Santa's wish list.lingering over a fresh snapper drizzled with lime and dipped in hot sambal over hot steamy rice in Melbourne and a bit of #achar

For Indonesian food fans in Melbourne, it would be hard to find a better Nasi Beef Rendang at $13.90 or their chunky Sate Ayam $13.00 (5 skewers and rice) and dip some of that #sambal (not too hot to cater for most). Generous portion, simple and yet attractively presented too.

Surely more good things in the future for this Indonesian establishment.building memories in their new home.

All the very best in 2022 and onward to team at Kenangan; Nick, Alex and Grace.keep on serving those delicious Indonesian dishes. I'm sure we'll be back for more and we thank you!

This is definitely one of if not the best Indonesian restaurant in Melbourne. I especially love their grilled dishes, my favorite is the sate plecing. The meat is cooked to juicy perfection and is seasoned well with sweet soy sauce and chili. Their home delivered vacuum-packed food is just as delicious as dining in and is convenient as well.

I liked that they put a slice of lime in their es kelapa, it makes it taste even more refreshing. However I think they also add sugar to it which makes it too sweet, so I'd recommend asking to not add sugar in the drink.

Authentic, delicious Indonesian food! Everything tastes just like it would in Indonesia and ingredients were all fresh. We booked a table for 16 of us, and we were amazed to find our food came out so quickly! We could all enjoy the food together!

This is by far my absolute favorite restaurant in Melbourne. An Indonesian restaurant that stays true to the authentic ways of Indonesian cooking. The attention to every details of their dishes' taste is impeccable, from the sambal, to the main dish, to the side dish - everything is just spot on.
The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and cozy, with a very friendly hospitable hosts.
Everything on their menu is so delicious it's making you want to come back again and again. I tried their Iga bakar, Nasi Goreng, Kenangan, Sate Plecing and Ayam Goreng Kenangan and I could easily recommend any of these to anyone.
