Kedai Satay reviews
73Delicious and affordable Indonesian food in town. I ordered the beef rib curry, yellow rice, gado gado and spicy tofu. I spent $3.50 to add chicken to my gado gado and it was so good. The chicken is grilled with a distinct charcoal flavour, its very delicious. The beef is tender and comes apart when you eat it. The curry is tangy and just the type of Indonesian curry that I like. It can be a tact salty so eat it with rice and it is perfect! Spicy tofu was not very spicy but very crispy and comes in a not overwhelmingly sweetish sauce with a spicy touch. Most importantly, the rice comes with sambal balachan chilli, the must have for any authentic indonesian meal.
Food is good overall. The chicken satay is one of the best I've had and really flavourful. The ayam Goreng is well cooked but a bit bland. The Soto batawi is the highlight of the meal. Really flavourful and close to the original. Served with grilled beef ribs though but still soft highly recommended.
Best Indonesian place ive tried in Melbourne. The menu is a bit limited but the freshness and tastiness is up there. Prices are also reasonable given what you get.
The staff are not focussed
Order my food and didn’t take correct order down
Order wontons and spring rolls only received wontons but they said spring rolls are made the same as wontons but they were all wontons.
Forgot about drinks had to ask for them.
The staff were not focused and in real rush and food was cold. Will not be back at all very unhappy and not satisfied
Tasty authentic Indonesian food that is cooked fresh. Friendly staff who make sure that your stay is comfortable. We ordered the satay with rice, fried chicken and tofu along with the beef soup. Food was delicious. Prices are very reasonable
Excellent food. Must try the chicken satay skewers. What sets Kedai apart from other Indonesian restaurants is quality.chicken was fresh and tender.at other places where meat is stored longer satay is tough.at Kedai it was 10/10 PERFECT! And corn as side dish was delicious.
Lastly, staff is very welcoming and friendly.
Great service, kind staff, and absolutely delicious Indonesian food, what more could you ask for? Buat yang rindu makanan Indo, the best. Reminds me of home.
Another restaurant which offers Indonesian cuisine in Melbourne.
They have convenient place and offers wide variety of Indonesian food.
I ordered lamb Satay and chicken satay as well. And also Soto Ayam. All those meals comes with steamed rice. The rice can also be replaced with yellow rice which has unique taste.
Overall the Satay and Soto are great.
By the way I ordered grilled corn as well which has great taste as well. The corn is boiled or steamed first I guess and then it was simmered with butter and sweet chilly sauce so it taste really good. Go give it a try guys.
All in all its 9/10 experience
I felt like I wanted a satay dish for dinner, close by to were I was staying for the weekend.
I'm not from Melbourne, so I walked 25mins away, this restaurant was rated 7th out of 15th top satay restaurant in Melbourne.
Well Im glad it didn't cost much but I was extremely disappointed when I got back to the hotel. Their was no satay at all and the for sticks of lamb tasted like it was barbecued, the lamb was not eatable it was so chewy. The rice had no coconut flavour just a large blob of chili paste. The salad was nice but in one mouth full that was the end.
Not happy so I guess I dident have time to go back out to buy my self dinner as it was getting dark. I went to bed hungry.
I would not have recommended this restaurant and rate my meal 0 and a complete waste of time.
I came here for dinner out of randomness one night. It was one of the best impromptu dinner I’ve had. Since then, I’ve been going back and have had many bouts of craving for their food. I really like the fried chicken with kremes, egg balado with grilled chicken, and soto batawi with beef ribs! I’m yet to try the other dishes even though I keep coming back for the same things. Keep doing what you do, team!
Excellent food and fast service. They don't take bookings, but because service is so fast, it's not that bad.
The grilled beef ribs were good. Had a smoke flavour. The satay sauce was peanuty and wasn't overwhelming. The side of chill was beautiful, hot and spicy.
Very disappointed as the quality is not as good as it used to be, meat was served cold at quiet time.really? You guys really need to get back on the board as business is very competitive these days.used to love eating here, but now completely changed
Very friendly and fast service. Ordered grilled lamb. Super soft and yummy and the peanut sauce is amazing. Rice portion little bit small tho but it's doesn't matter. Highly recommended and will come again. Cute server too: D
Friday lunch so there was a small wait. Had the lamb ribs wth yellow rice.bloody beautiful. Looking forward to trying other items
Best Ribs ever in Melbourne comes with yumz peanut sauce.you should come here and try when in Melbourne:)
They served a wide range of Indonesian dishes. The taste was modified to appeal locals, hence don’t worry about spicy food. They’re not. But the original herbs and authentic spices make the original taste comes forward.
Cozy and friendly waitperson. Delicious food at reasonable price. This will be one of favorite place for comfort food. We had the tofu salad, Corn fritters, beef ribs with rice, chicken kremes with rice. All are delicious but the stand out are the beef ribs and corn fitters. Thank you, chef and wait staff.
The foods was really delicious and the price is so affordable.
I highly recommended if you want real Indonesia satay.
Great tasting grilled meat + satay sauce. The portions are good for the price. Can get very busy between 12-1pm where there are long waits. Get in early because the food is top stuff.
