Kedai Satay reviews
73Had takeaway gado gado. They mixed prawn crackers and the salad together. When i got home, crackers got soggy. Peanut sauce isn't tasty at all.
Lamb ribs and grilled barramundi are amazing~the chili sauce they put on the barramundi dish is so amazing too! Too spicy for me, but I can't get enough of it! The venue is nicely presented and service is super friendly
Delightful! Fresh and so tasty. I had the crispy chicken and yellow rice. And the fried wonton for entree. My friends had the grilled chicken. I will be back! For sure.
I have been dining at this restaurant for several years and their standard has not dropped since my first visit!
I would recommend their yellow rice as it is flavourful and fragrant. Beef ribs - tender and well marinated. Grilled chicken - perfectly cooked with tenderness. The sauces are great too.
Please try it out if you love Indonesian cuisine!
Your meet ball is really bad taste. Taste wierd, , to much flour, texture also not like real meet ball. Don't even try it please
A great Indonesian restaurant. Loved the beef ribs and lamb ribs. So flavourful and authentic. The peanut sauce is incredibly delicious. Good customer service as well
Good food, good value. Would recommend the soto betawi, the beef was super soft, the soup delicious, and the chilli on the side had a nice kick to it. Loved the ayam kremes as well, chicken was tender and well-cooked.
Casual dining with highlight of the location being yummy food. Ordered beef ribs to share and it was a delight. Meet falling off the bone along with spicy chilli sauce. Can be bundled with rice to complete a meal.
Loved the food and minimalistic food menu.
Place serves halal food.
SIMPLE MALAYSIAN CAFE IN MELBOURNE CBD
Pay as you order style cafe in the city centre with a small selection of Malaysian dishes (including satay of course!).
Fast service and cheerful staff.
Good for a quick lunch with friends / colleagues. Can get quite busy (and noisy). There are a few tables out the back of the cafe (al fresco style) as well.
Recently had a meal delivered via UberEats which was much lower quality than the in-cafe experience, so, if you aren't far away, go in and get your takeaway
Very close to authentic Indonesian food! Love their grilled chicken with yellow rice the most. Service is fast and friendly. Will recommend.
4 stars based on the food I ordered delivery. I enjoyed the charcoal taste of the chicken skewers, the satay sauce is exceptional.
Lamb ribs with rice is packe with flavour, the meats is tender, I love the sauce, best part of it.
I wish they have a way to pack their delivery better to keep the food warm. Skewers arrived almost cold, reheat in microwave, rice is acceptable.
We had visited Kedai Satay for dinner and here’s what we had!
Grilled chicken - the chicken was juicy and packed with yummy flavors! It went really well with the coconut rice and sambal which gave it a nice kick!
Beef ribs - the ribs were so tender and juicy and you could easily peel it off from the bone! The flavors were very yummy and it kept me going back for more!
Soto betawi - this was probably one of my favorites as the soup was not overly salty and the beef was super tender! We literally drank the whole bowl up!
Desserts were strawberry and pandan flavored cakes and it was such a delight to have especially with a sweet tooth like me!
Overall we had a great experience at Kedai Satay and would definitely visit again!
My favourite restaurant in Melbourne, the Satai is out of this world. Incredibly tender meat with a rich and flavourful sauce
You can see the BBQ being prepared right as you walk in. That aroma is felt outside and is almost unmissable from the street.
Ordered beef with rice and large without rice, while mate ordered chicken skewers with rice and salad.
Beef which had a bit of sauce on it was succulent, tender and definitely on point. The meat was breaking off so easily. Perfect combination. Sambal chilli on the side was quite spicy but if you like that, just go for it.
3 chicken skewers were a bit less with rice, 5 would be the way to go about it.
Price was reasonably cheap and this place would be recommended for sure.
UBER ORDER FOR LUNCH AT WORK
Sorry guys - but only 3 stars. Delivery was really very late and the food was cold when it arrived.
My chicken curry had two very small "slivers" of chicken in it and the curry was watery and lacking taste.
Hopefully your in-restaurant experience is better
Tried their grilled chicken, beef ribs and lamb ribs. Loved their chicken. The beef and lamb was infused in peanut sauce. Halal place.
Nasi kuning balado with eggs, tofu and potatoes. This was delicious and had a terrific spicy kick to it.
Grilled lamb ribs on white rice. For 50 cents extra, you get yellow rice, a must! The yellow rice was just scrumptious while the grilled lamb was tender and fell off the bone. The sambal was spicy.
Chendol was amazingly sweet and satisfying.
Service was friendly and prices were very reasonable. The place had a nice ambience. We will definitely be back.
We don't usually venture out to this end of town but having heard good things about Kedai Satay, we decided to make the trip. Boy, it was definitely worth it!

Before we decided to come we were talking about ribs being $40 everywhere you go but this place is something else. The lamb ribs just fell off the bone and were tender and juicy. The chicken satay skewers were also tender which is awesome because it’s always dry at other place. It’s super cheap as well and the coconut rice was actually coconuty. Also a can of soft drink is $2.5 which is pretty cheap. The only bad thing I would say which isn’t really a bad thing because it’ll happen everywhere you go is that the beef and lamb were a little bit fatty.
Additional sambal (chilli sauce, core ingredient in most Indonesian food) for $1 is not cool when the meal (itself is not cheap at about $15+) started with so little sauce to begin with. Other Indonesian restos will gladly give it for free.
