Kedai Satay reviews
73 Please do yourself a favour and visit this place to relish their authentic Indonesian food. No kidding, this restaurant consistently puts out delicious food, of which the grilled beef ribs with rice is a favourite of mine.
The Grilled Beef Ribs With Rice ($22.10) is one of their bestsellers for a good reason. The dish doesn't look pretentious or grand, a bowl of rice with absolutely delicious ribs meat, that feels like a piece of heaven in my mouth. Words aren't enough to express how good this dish is. Along with the jasmine rice, it was just perfect. The hot sambal was great as well, perfectly complementing the dish.
The place is often busy and noisy, so that's something to be aware of. The food more than makes up for it, so it hardly matters. The staff are alright. Without a doubt, one of the best beef dishes I've had in the CBD so far.
Portion sizes are a bit small, but the food is the best. Love their coconut rice and satay sticks.
Tasty food. Good service. Friendly staff. Would definitely visit again. We ordered the Lamb Ribs (v good), Satay Chicken (v good) and the grilled Barramundi (the fish however was a rather thin fillet and a bit too grilled for our liking).
This place serves up very tasty food! Economy wise, It's good value for money. The service was great - we were served water quickly after being seated and the waiter didn't wait too long in taking our order. The food also came promptly after ordering. We had the lamb ribs double serving- 8/10, char grilled barramundi - 8/10, satay chicken skewers - 8/10. Would tottttttallllly go back!
Food options available for vegetarians. It would be amazing if there was a vegetarian fried rice option with / without scrambled egg instead of the fried egg served separately / on top.
Not bad. Got the three skewers with yellow rice and chilli sauce. Skewers were a touch on the small side. Overall a good dish, nothing crazy to write home about but reasonable for a cheaper lunch if you're in the area.
This place has gone downhill. Went there last week and the few times. Ordered beef ribs and lamb ribs. The portion are small, the meat they served contains 80% of fat. Definitely not coming back.
This place has been a regular for me since they opened over 10 years ago. Though the portion size is smaller now (not complaining, as able to finish the food now), the food (beef ribs, lam ribs, skewers and grilled chicken) with chilli tastes as good. Best Indonesian food I have had in Melb in all these years.
Food was very tasty, though the portion was a little small for the price paid. We asked for more chilli, but were not told it's chargeable. We didn't mind paying, but a heads up will be nice. Other than that, friendly service and good food.
The food was nice. I tried their beef, lamb, & chicken and wasn't disappointed. The peanut sauce coating was tasty. The portion was a little bit smaller than average. The staff were friendly & welcoming.
Halal food but they serve Bintang alcohol.
Not wheelchair & pram friendly as there are stairs once you enter the premise.
Extra charge when paying using a credit card. No AMEX.
Lamb ribs, I think it was with cashew sause, was so tasety. It was a great combination With yellow rice as well. The service and staff was so good. Definitely recommend
Beef ribs were delicious! They are a must have if you go here. Chicken skewers were also very good, nice char flavour.
Grilled fish with salad is good.
The sauce for gado gado and chicken satay is abit too thin compare to other Indonesian place. (also not as sweet as others (in a good way)
Good to try =) & cheap eat
Cant say no to pempek and tahu gejrot. Definitely there are lots of things to try in the menu. The settings and decor reminds me of old school cafes/kedai in Cikini, Jakarta.
Make sure try their sotos in winter, and ea cendol in summer ️
Nice food. Ayam Bakar was delicious! Satay is nice with the peanuts sauce. The chilli is fantastic. Do ask for more if you can take spicy.
I ordered fried chicken with rice, taste very dry and plain, with very little amount of chilly sauce given so i asked for a bit more sauce, but they wanted to charge me extra $1 for another tiny drop, it is a bottle sauce not liquid gold, I understand they have a cost, but charging customer for a tiny drop of sauce is a poor judgement, I wouldn’t recommend and i would never come back.
This is a great little gem in South Melbourne. Love the skewers and barramundi! Has great vego options as well. A great light but satisfying lunch so I can power through my day.
Lucked on to this place, and was great! Fabulous food and cheap as. Very friendly staff. Not glitzy, but would recommend very highly. Do yourself a favour and eat here! We will be back.
Serve too slow sorry to say. And food not so nice. For me repaired your food make nice for customers to eating.
One of my new favourite restaurants. The meals are simple, but delicious, and always hit the spot.
