Sashimi is really nice so is the tempura which is their speciality dish. Homemade gyoza was nice and they have sushi that comes served on a boat which my daughter liked. The sushi boat that goes around the table (sushi train but done with boats on water) no longer has real sushi to grab due to COVID but the boats still go around so there's a novelty in that if you sit at that table. Place is small and gets really busy so book and book earlier in the night if you can.

BEWARE - DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ACTUALLY WANT FOOD AND WANT TO BE CHARGED EXTRA!

We came here last Friday night (4/02/2022) at 7: 30pm and ordered 4 dishes and 2 drinks - the Sakura sushi boat, 10 pieces of salmon nigiri, passionate delight boat, pork gyoza, a Coke Zero and a lemon lime bitters.

The gyoza and passionate delight boat out came out within a reasonable time. Both were average, nothing spectacular.

From there is went downhill. It was at 8: 30pm and the waitress came to check our order for the salmon nigiri and I reminded her that we also ordered the Sakura sushi boat. ‘Apparently’ they had to make a new batch of rice which was why it was taking so long. By this time all tables that had ordered after us had received all their food and we could see that any takeaway orders with sushi were being fulfilled.

20 minutes had passed and it seemed like they had forgotten our Sakura sushi boat when the waitress came back to ‘double check’ our order and said that it will take another 10 minutes.

At 9: 15 we still hadn’t received anything and decided to check with the waitress - turns out they hadn’t even made a start on our sushi boat so we told them to cancel the order. At this rate the restaurant would have closed and we still wouldn’t have received it or it would have been faster to order takeaway from another restaurant and have it delivered to us.

We left there disappointed and hungry after paying $92 and was not informed until we questioned the bill,
that the prices on the menu were incorrect (they charge an extra 10% for each item) and no apology for them forgetting our order. It seems like forgetting customer’s orders is a frequent occurrence from other reviews.

Overall, one of the worst dining experience. I recommend going to Chiba instead.

The service was extremely slow. Forgot our order, did not apologise, prices on menu was incorrect and lower- only acknowledged when challenged on it.

One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had - the lying about the status of our orders really annoyed me. On my dinner black list like many other reviews for this place.

Worst restaurant I’ve been to in 3 years:

- All the fried food was overcooked/cooked frozen food and had a heavy tempura batter. Except for the karage chicken, the fillings were dry as the desert sun and tasted like sawdust

- Service was absolutely abysmal. They were nice but they forgot half our order and never admitted to the fact they forgot. Took close to 3 hours to make basic sushi dishes as a result. Finally, no discount or apology for the mistake is just poor form.

- Finally, on payment, for half the dishes it was already at $20+ per person, which is just overpriced for what you get.

If you are determined to come here, don’t come during a busy period like Friday night, because their service clearly falls apart like a cheap suit.

Do yourself a favour and avoid this place if you want to eat edible food within 2 hours:)

Absolutely delicious, everything so fresh, the giozas hand made to order were amazing. Great service.

Food was fab at a good price, felt very covid safe. Everyone is understaffed at the moment and the one lady who was serving the whole place did an excellent job.

Amazing food at a very reasonable price, staff were very accomodating and nice. Outside of not getting one of our entrees, it was a great place for traditional Japanese food.

Food is pretty good (when it arrives), but the service is ordinary. Be prepared to give your order over and over again, and don't expect to get everything you ordered. I'd go somewhere else in a heartbeat, but my kids like the little wooden boats which carry the sushi around. With the rate of change in Yarraville, I'm staggered that this place has survived. Maybe it's the retro-kitsch differentiation?

Disappointed and left hungry. Booked our table for 7pm, arrived on time and were seated. Ordered our food (Sushi Platter & Chicken Katsu) but were asked to move to a different table, due to the table we were on being reserved.
Waited and waited and waited until 8: 34pm for the platter. Continued waiting, watching the staff and the chef hoping to get the chicken. At 9pm the chef from the kitchen sat down to eat her dinner, the waitresses were washing dishes and the sushi chef was having a coffee. At 9: 15pm we told the waitress we didn't get our meal, to which she chuckled and apologised. Kindly enough, we got our green tea for free and $1 off our platter. Won't be coming back anymore.

Food was okay. Service was bad.
The lady attending to us was very rude and gets irritated attending to orders.

Really poor service. Staff do not check-in to see if the minimum standard of service has been met and forgot our main dish. Do not recommend.

Yeah I wasn't enthused. Food was ok, service was ok. The toilet was dirty though and the outdoor sink had no soap or sanitiser. The soap dispenser hasn't been used for months it seems. The chef used the toilet before me so I'm wondering at what point he washed his hands.

Was really excited to try this place, service was great, very small sushi menu, only salmon available, scallops and squid overcooked. Quite disappointed!

Nice neat little restaurant. Quick service, yummy food. Gyoza were delicious as we're the scallop, pork & chicken yakitori skewers. Friends loved the quail too.

Cost little restaurant serving some pretty tasty and fuss free Australian-Japanese fare! They had an interesting take on ebi tempura as well.

Save your money and go else where.
Food was comparable to that of a food court sushi takeaway store found in any shopping centre.
The service was terrible, dirty dishes was not taken away untill we asked.

What a place! So lovely and cozy, satisfied perfectly. We had plum wine and boy oh boy was it delicious. You WONT feel sea sick on this boat! Friendly friendly service:)

Look, to be fair the place was coming from behind the 8ball from the start, given the other more up market Japanese place around the corner near yim yams. But the love really wasn't there. It was super slow, the food was average and I wouldn't go again. Partner agreed.

Cute place, good food, friendly service! We had gyoza, sashimi, sushi, croquettes and yakitori chicken - all delicious, generous servings and good value.
