Kallista Tea Rooms reviews
70New owners and now the food has gone down in quality since 2019. Won't be going back. Disappointed! The cute little branch with all the hanging decorations has also been taken down. I miss it!
Being a local I have visited this Café on many occasions, this is the 1st time I have written a review on a restaurant as I am pretty tolerant of rubbish food and service. This time, we were seated outside and ignored, after a few glib apologies our order was taken and then another apology as the quiche of the day was unavailable. They did have one piece of quiche Lorraine. Well, it certainly wasn't the Q of day as it was totally inedible as was the yellow lettuce accompanying it. On check out I mentioned this and another glib apology, but I assume it was the owner hanging about, he made sure we paid for it. Just lost another couple of customers.
Not sure what has happened to the Tea Rooms. The last 2 times I've been we've waited an hour for food that was not fresh or tasty. This cafe used to be my go to but the food and service has really gone down hill.
We had a High Tea on 3/3/21 which was delightful. Ruby served us and barista was amazing, keeping us served with bottomless hot drinks. Food was wonderful, service was too and overall experience was faultless. Would highly recommend.
It is a nice place to have a meal or tea and scones for sure though the service was a bit slow when we were there. They have a very nice pumpkin sourdough
One of the most gorgeous buildings in the Dandenongs is the art deco home of Kallista Tea Rooms. The gorgeous setting is matched by a diverse and well prepared menu with plenty of options. Industry Beans coffee, welcoming friendly service, delicious shakes and drinks, beautiful eggs and all the rest. Very popular, so book or aim to arrive early. Nonetheless, service is prompt and the overall experience a really good one.
Lovely scones and great hot drink selection. Would recommend booking a table esp if want a good view as it gets very busy on weekends both lunch hour and the afternoon.
The Kallista Tea Rooms has become my local for coffee, breakfasts, snacks, lunch, business meetings and amazing atmosphere. I have also enjoyed the occasional live music show and very frequent and great conversations with Sinan and Sara whom have really brought life and spirit to the venue and community. Thanks for kickstarting my day every day and for the very friendly, relaxing and enjoyable experience when I visit.
Always happy with the service and the food. Quiche was good and fruit toast is epic. I have been coming here for 20 years and the current owners have really worked to restore this place to it's former glory!
So disappointing after our keenness to go, very poor service, scones weren't fresh and the meals were very unsatisfactory. We were eating an hour after arriving and coffees 45minutes after ordering! I feel guilty for the bad review but it really needs to improve.
Very attentive service. Absolutely delicious meal. Had the hash brown with mushrooms, feta and walnut crumble. Finished with scones. Could not fault a thing. They were very busy, yet managed to serve us in a timely manner. Would definitely return.
Massive improvement since the last time i dropped in! Great breakfast menu, awesome presentation; deliciousness upon deliciousness! Thanks.
Stopped by and enjoyed a great atmosphere as well as amazing hot chocolate White was so yummy. Also sitting by the windows with the birds right next to us was amazing. The service was great lovely staff scones and fresh made jams were lovely.
Toilets were clean and the whole shop was just lovely from the local teas to the paintings on the wall.
Definitely a place to stop if you are visiting #mtdandenong #Kallistatearooms
Enjoyed a high tea session here.catered for vegetarian, the sandwhiches were nice. I suggest offering more than one type of tea though if someone wants to try more and more scones offered instead of half of one each.
Lovely little place to drop in for food any time of the day.
Popular with both tourists and locals it usually isn't too hard to find a table.
Not the cheapest place but you pay for the good quality locally sourced produce.
They also cater for the lactose intolerant by offering soy and almond milk options.
Absolutely lovely high tea! I've enjoyed this twice, and each time we've had great service and amazing food. From the tasty sandwiches to warm savouries and decadent dessert. Complimented with bottomless hot chocolate, tea and coffee. There are wonderful views of the surrounding tree and bird life too.
Terrible service today. Missed my meal entirely by failing to put it through, but somehow managed to get give me the side order of chips I ordered at the same time. We were left very frustrated and the manager didn't even bother to speak to us personally.
Food was delicious, lots of options and especially good if you are looking for veggie/vegan plates. There is a small play corner for kids which is nice - although it is right next to the toilet. Comfy sofa seating is also available, and lots of magazines around if you want to relax and read. Coffee is decent.
U can find typical brekkie menu here, coffee was not bad, and the best part was the environment, loved it.
Lovely historic building where they serve breakfast, lunch, scones and high tea. High tea must be booked in advance. Cooked breakfast was delicious. They have soy and almond milk, but no lactose free which was a little disappointing. Lots of options, friendly staff and reasonable prices in a lovely setting- what more could you ask for? Parking is behind the tea rooms.
