Kallista Tea Rooms reviews
70Had really high hopes for this place. It looked good, the reviews appeared to be great. Booked for early Sunday morning 9 am. Started really well, great and I mean great coffee, some awesome cold pressed juice. We are on a roll! Service pleasant enough although not shown to a table just pointed at and told sit where you like, that’s ok too. Orders taken promptly. Hubbie had chilli scrambled eggs with bacon and halloumi on the side, he loved it, great flavors, good portion, bacon overdone to collapsible crisp, halloumi ‘squeaky’ but if you like it like that it’s good. My disappointment however was almost palpable. The signature tea rooms breakfast was appalling. Roasted mushrooms that were wet, stewed and the texture of a sponge, an English sausage…. Never have I ever had a beefy herby crispy sausage such as this in uk…. Sausages are usually pork. Poached eggs were snotty.undercooked. Presentation was really poor on this one too. This meal does not come with any bacon. We had a couple of cups of coffee 2 meals and 2 juices…over $90. Expectations were not met on this occasion and I’m not sure I would like to try again. The potential for this place is huge, come on guys I think you can do better.
We arrived at around 2pm and the place was packed for lunch. We only had an hour to spare and were seated fairly quickly. Got a quick order of dish of the day and served in 10 minutes. We were out in 40 min and were happy and full. This place is also famous for their tea and scones made on the spot. Highly recommended.
Very good meals, service a little slow but was quite busy so understandable. Would go there again as staff friendly have great memories for your orders.
Great place to stop for a coffee and food, and a destination worth a visit in its own right. Coffees are decently strong and well made, scones with jam and cream are outstanding. Other food is excellent eg super fresh and soft panini, roast vegetable frittata with salad. Lots of glass and light filled interior with a decent view. We’ll be coming back to try more from the menu!
A rainy mid-week day, so lightly patronised, but staff very attentive, courteous, & knowledgeable of the menu. Lunch, including coffee & cake, well prepared & presented.
Great staff, very friendly and accommodating, food is very yummy and fresh, and don't even get me started with the Lindt hot chocolates!
LOVED IT!
Best prana chai I’ve had, I had the peppermint my friend had the turmeric. Slight hint of peppermint, fresh turmeric used. My friend is obsessed with the vegan french toast (he’s not vegan), there was quite a wait for food but it was a busy Sunday, and the chai filled us up.one suggestion~ handbag hook in women’s bathroom:)
I went with my girls for high tea and we had a great experience. The service was wonderful, staff was very polite, place was beautiful with views and the food was so amazing. Everything that came with out high tea was so delicious. We ordered vegetarian and totally loved how the food was so fresh and the baked goods were freshly baked for high tea. I will go back for lunch next time.
When we arrived, we were told that we could only sit outside as most of the empty tables inside would be reserved. Fair enough, at least they had some blankets. Outside we ended up waiting 45 mins for some very average food (eggs benny and the sliders). Numerous tables inside remained empty for the whole hour we've been there. At least we got a good discount after complaining, which is why I give two and not just one star. Overall just a super disappointing experience.
Disappointing. Dry, miscellanous food items. No care.
The only good thing about going here was that (after having driven past many times and wanting to stop by) we finally did. And never will again lol
The food was a huge disappointment. The pancake was burnt and drowning in oil. The fritters were overcooked and dense.
The same was said about the pancake in a review posted one month ago. Chefs, perhaps you need to listen to your clients feedback, especially as it's repeating? !
Food like this should not be served. It should be thrown in the bin and redone from scratch. Don't you care that charging clients $20 for an oily, burnt pancake is unacceptable?
Iced chocolate was sickeningly rich, scones were ok but left a tingly numb feeling on our tongues. Staff seemed to want us in and out quickly as we had just sat down not even picked up the menu when we were being asked for our order
Shoutout to my waitress Montana who was so welcoming and friendly, made my day!
Really enjoyed my visit and such a delicious lunch and friendly environment. 5 stars all round!
Had lovely scones. Service was excellent. There are also lots of beautiful birds that you could see from the windows and that adds to the fantastic atmosphere.
A very nice quiet place, loved the coffee, cakes & scones. The best place for fresh warm scones with nice cuppa and scenery of cockatoos
Absolutely wonderful experience here with high tea for my sister's birthday. The service, particularly from one waitress was beyond fantastic. She was caring and nurturing and went above and beyond to meet our needs. We felt really looked after.
The food was pleasant and the view of the cockatoos and the rosellas was glorious.
I would definitely go back for more and this time try out the cafe menu not just high tea. P. S.the bottomless Lindt hot chocolate was absolutely delicious.
Oh and they were very accommodating to cater for our dietary requirements including vegetarian and pregnancy.
A must visit!
Staff were lovely, however the owner didn't seem to care or listen to our concerns when we passed them on. We booked a table and when we arrived nothing had been set up, and squished 5 of us onto a small table. The food took an hour to come out, my pancake was burnt and too oily for me to eat. Other pancake was full of chilli and oil. Salads had no dressing and chicken was so overcooked and dry that you could barely cut it.
I have been in food service for years and would never serve a customer what was served to us. The quality of food was awful, when we complained the waitress passed it on but then our table was completely ignored and we were not offered anything to fix or resolve the issue.
They gave us 50% off the bill for our trouble. I still think some things like my meal should have been taken off completely since I couldn't eat it and left the place hungry.
Don't bother coming here.
Nice cafe in the heart of the Nature, nice cosy place. Good customer service, happy and cheerful faces, Sam really know how to make the customer happy.
Kallista Tea Rooms is one of those places you visit and even before leaving, you’re already planning your next visit. It’s a gem. People and Service -great! Food- great! Ambiance-great! Value - great! Oh and the sight of birds perched on the trees is a wonderful experience There’s not a lot of places that you can find that ticked all these boxes. Make sure you make reservations on weekends and holidays. It’s definitely worth the trip to Kallista.
Service poor, food burnt.
They did provide a 75% refund promptly. However feedback was provided at the time with disinterest from staff.
