I have been learn Japanese with Nunawading Japanese school for almost two years and it’s been a pleasant journey. All the Sensei are very dedicated, fun and engaging. Great teachers and learning materials. Highly recommend to anyone who is interested in commencing a new language

The environment here is extremely friendly and definitely fosters the perfect dynamic for learning. I enjoy going to class every week not just because of my helpful classmates, but because the lessons are fun, engaging, and effective. Most importantly, it never feels like I'm sitting in a boring class being talked at. You think at first that it will take years to be able to speak a new language, but after such a short time with this school's teaching system, I feel like I'm retaining my knowledge and can already form sentences and make conversation. Miyuki-sensei is a fantastic teacher and I always go home having learned more - cannot recommend enough!

Nunawading Japanese School is a wonderful, professionally run school for anyone wanting to learn to read, write and speak Japanese. All the teachers are Japanese and the classes are so much fun it has quickly become the highlight of my week.
As soon as you walk through the classroom door you are greeted by the teachers who engage you with their enthusiasm and immediately put a smile on your face. Lessons are well paced and structured so your grammar and vocabulary builds at a manageable pace. Even when the learning is challenging, the positive environment is encouraging and supportive.
Whatever your motivation for wanting to learn Japanese, I highly recommend Nunawading Japanese School.

I’ve been a student over the years at various Japanese schools in Melbourne. Lots of starts and stops which I’m not proud of. Nunawading Japanese School is by far the most professionally run school I’ve attended so far. My prior knowledge (very patchy) was matched as best as possible to their curriculum and I’ve found the past 12 months of group classes continuously challenging and thoroughly enjoyable. Another huge advantage is it’s only 5 minutes drive from where I live. I can see myself learning with this school and teachers for many years to come. Thank you everyone envolved for making my learning experience so enjoyable.

I moved to Japan (from Australia) a few years ago, and thought that I would be able to pick up the language through self-study and immersion. Unfortunately, it wasn’t working out, and I was feeling like I couldn’t master much beyond basic communication. So, I decided to reach out to Nunawading Japanese School after seeing advertisements on Instagram, since they offered online classes at a time convenient for me, and the pricing seemed very reasonable. Oh, and being an Aussie business was a bonus.

I have been studying with them for a few months now, and I am really impressed! I don’t feel embarrassed to make mistakes, and the teachers are an absolute joy (and really funny too!). I really like my classmates, and we often work as a team to help each other through the more difficult vocabularies.

I’ve had nothing but positive experience learning at Nunawading Japanese School over the past 12 months. All the teachers are lovely and experienced teaching the Japanese language. I’m currently in B2 level and finding the content challenging but extremely rewarding. For anyone wanting to learn Japanese in a structured classroom setting with native tecahers I highly recommend this school.

I’m having such a wonderful time learning japanese at this Japanese school. The structure of classes and course material is very cleverly planned. I’m always left feeling challenged but never overwhelmed after class and regular homework is assigned and corrected which is very helpful. I’ve made great friends, can speak a decent amount Japanese comfortably, and can read/write both hiragana and katakana and now learning Kanji. The sensei (Miyki, Yuki, Mari, Mia) are all very lovely. I feel part of a Japanese community and it’s my second home. So excited that things are finally getting better with covid and we’ll be back onsite again very soon. I just have so much fun in class. Thank you to everyone involved in creating such a wonderful learning environment full of positivity and happiness.

As a beginner student I'm really enjoying this schools environment and teaching style! Highly recommended for anyone looking to start learning Japanese. The teachers are very accommodating and patient while making sure each class is fun and interactive. Can't wait for each class every week!

Classes are fun! The lessons are contextual, meaningful and would be very useful in Japanese interaction. The school not only teaches content, but also the beautiful Japanese culture inherent to words and language nuances. Drills were helpful in mastering the content, and homework reinforces what was learned in class. Curriculum is scaffolded in a way that is easy and gentle for a beginner, at the same time sufficiently challenging. Sessions are structured well so time is maximized for learning. The teachers are energetic, very passionate with what they do, and very patient and generous with feedback too! The classes allow for collaboration with other learners through chat, and that makes a very positive environment to learn in. Nunawading Japanese School is great! And most of all, Maru-chan is cute:).

Can’t recommend this school enough! All the teachers are so lovely - they are always so helpful and make the online classes really fun and engaging! The pace of learning is perfect and I love the different activities the teachers make for us to revise content. I’m always excited for the online class every week and love learning with my other classmates. If you’re thinking about learning Japanese, I highly recommend joining this school!

I have absolutely loved my online Japanese learning. All of the staff have been so lovely, patient and very helpful. The course material is challenging, but not to the point of being stressful. I’m amazed by the progress made in a relatively short period of time.

A good place to start the learning Japanese journey. The course is well planned and not overwhelmed. Also, with the help of teachers, it is easy to get the hands in learning Japanese. And we have great interactions with each other at class, of course teachers included. It means there are heaps of listening and speaking practice at class while well-designed homework to look after writing skills and enhance overall knowledge after class. Highly recommend for anyone interested in learning Japanese.
